Actually there are several cases of incest in the bible and in a very christian community it is seen as normal, so it does stem partly from religion. In islam for example I read that it was completely forbidden to engage in these acts, but you'd have to talk to a muslim to really know whats up. Well working in my research department in Canada, I can honestly say you are right in some area (about the brain drain) but I must also tell you I know of 10 Iranians in the department of chemistry and 9 of them are funded by the Iranian government to conduct research in the west and all of them plan on returning home to pass on the knowledge. Actually there are several cases of incest in the bible and in a very christian community it is seen as normal, so it does stem partly from religion. In islam for example I read that it was completely forbidden to engage in these acts, but you'd have to talk to a muslim to really know whats up. I am sure that incest is higher percentagewise in the US and southafrica.

Ok I dont proclaim to be an expert and I could be wrong, but I think that its a combination of things. Western alienation mixed with exploitation of religious beliefs. I spoke to a gentleman from Iran today who told me the supreme religious leader in Iran was pretty much just put into power without public approval and he commands a great deal of influence in Iran. But its not the relgion thats a problem (if it helps iranians in their everyday life), its the wrongful exploitation of it for power.

There are over 20 million Azeris and 5 million Kurds alone, both of which are concentrated in North Iranian provinces which Western friendly Azerbaijan and Turkey. I know that Mujahedeen spent a LOT of money on funding gathering meetings of their members. Basically, they paid the trip and hotel rooms of members all over the world to places like Paris and stuff like that. Of course, the leaders ate some of it to and then they had to pay a lot of the higher members(that do all the dirty work) and stuff like that. Don't ask how I know this.. :P
