  • She has such a natural-sounding belt that sometimes I forget that she's actually belting. Too amazing.

  • learning this for my grade 6 singing exam... watching this has made me very nervous about singing this.

  • simply stunning

  • Keep in mind that this was actually written specifically for Linda's voice...which is why my voice teacher never let me sing it :(

  • @GirlyLoveX My chorus teacher is helping me with it for my college audition

  • i dont pray to any god imagine out there anymore..but Linda's voice is like prayer.. this song is my anthem containing the deepest yearning.

  • the reason why I sing today...

  • Somehow this song reminds me of eponine from Les miserables. both hoping someone they love...love them back. 5 stars performance to Linda Eder.

  • I LOVE HER

  • she is the best singer in her genre hands down. I absolutely love linda and her performances!

  • she makes it look effortless:)

  • There neeeds to be more clips like this ):

  • After seeing her in 1997 and meeting her, I was hooked on J&H and her music...fabulous post !

  • I really love her passion in this song. Gets m EVERY time.

  • You can feel the passion of her singing this song everytime you listen to it...

  • I ADORE HER IN THIS ROLE. She completely owns it. Gorgeous and an AMAZING singer. I wish I could do that!

  • Her voice is amazing...lol when I saw the first few seconds of this, I saw the hat, and I was like 0.0 wtf is tht?? xDD

  • who would ever dislike this?

and that decrescendo from her belt? ugh. incredible.

  • i love this...so much.

  • i think she'd be incredible if she lost the machine gun vibrato, it's kinda annoying. but aside from that she sings this AMAZINGLY!!! xxx

  • Omg...spectacular!

  • Just great! -( she should be more famous).

  • Is that her real hair ?? I love it X)

Does anyone know how to made it look like htat ?

  • wow, she is owning this song!!!

  • Linda owns this song!!!!! I love how she delivers:) As for a new life I would have to give that one to Coleen Sexton, though dont get me wrong Linda does great on that song to. They are both great Lucy's!!!

  • I would give anything to see her in this show. Sadly its no long running =(

  • is it just me, or is the volume continally fluctuating at first?

    love it, though. gorgeous singer

  • this would make a grat wedding song

  • This was my favorite number from the show... I'd set up my concession bar early just to watch her do the number. Her phrase, "... Feels so Alive" gave me chills the way Linda would hit that note!

  • @shoehead65

Listen, I saw this woman get out there at like 11am in Shubert Alley in NYC (between the Booth & Shubert Theaters) and just stand there in this little alleyway and sing this - she almost sounded as if she wouldn't be able to quite make the top note, but she just amazingly gets into this kinda out-of-this-world spot in her voice at the top and nails it every time!

  • @RCPooley123 That makes two of us ;D

  • Usually I get bored with the repetition of "loved me" at the end, but she kept me captivated until the very end. She's so fantastic!

  • she is amazing. very nice!

her voice reminds me of Barbra Streisand..A LOT.

  • I still love you, Abigail.

    -John

  • She has insane vocals!

    Always have loved her voice

  • Linda's vocals never cease to amaze me. Her Broadway, My Way is FABULOUS.

  • What are these Jekyll & Hyde videos of? I thought the only video released was of The Hoff and Saxton.

  • @mormonophobic

    it is a broadway musical

  • Um...I know Jekyll and Hyde is a Broadway musical. I asked what these videos were from. I was under the impression the only released recording OF the Broadway musical was the awful David Hasselhoff version. So once again, what are these videos from? The quality makes me think they are pro-shot.

  • A lot of times shows will record videos like this for presskits. This is probably a promotional video shot for the purpose of giving previews. Like a movie trailer.

  • Incredible...is she a blow up doll??? Really!!! How can a woman look so voluptuous and gorgeous at the same time...oh yeah and she can SING too....sigh

  • I still love you, Abigail.

    -John

  • One of my favorite songs of all time... And have heard anyone sing it as well and as passionate as her....

  • her pianissimo is amaaaazing

  • I think you mean fortissimo.

  • I I didn't hear a pianissimo in this song. I did hear a fortissimo, though.

  • no i meant pianissimo. at the end of the song.

  • it wasnt that quiet.

    maybe piano.

    not quite pianissimo

  • wow that was truly......AMAZING!!!!!!

  • She has such a beautiful clear tone and her ability to belt in the higher ranges are mind blowing. She is one of my true inspirations!

  • Ever heard of Sutton Foster?

    What a beast.

  • Linda is so irreplacable. My vocal cords are bleeding just thinking about trying to be like her. She's the bomb.

  • @SherlockRose I tried to do this song and I frightened myself. I just can't perform it to Linda's extent.

  • @SherlockRose

Ha ha ha! I know what you mean. She is absolutely amazing and I can't bear to listen to myself when I try to sing this song along with the recording of her singing it:).

  • linda is amazing!!!! i love her!!!!! the way that she can transition from belting her voice to singing softly is amazing!!!

  • i like coleens better i think she adds some kind of depth to lucy

    linda is great though

  • Linda. Is. Amazing.

  • this pisses me of cuz this our half time show fort he marching band im in

  • totally know how you feel, i'm in marching band too and we did west side story, it will never be the same again

  • WEST SIDE STORY FTW!!!!!!!!

  • I know you made this comment a long time ago, but it's true. A band we competed against did this show one year. I think it's funny that the marching set doesn't include any songs sung by Jekyll or Hyde. hehe

  • I love Linda, her voice is amazing and this song was made for her! Like literally :)

  • Does this seem a bit fast to anyone?

  • i LOVE linda eder! good god. not only is she beautiful but she has a beautiful voice to back it up. amazing. wow. i'm so impressed.

  • i friggin' love linda eder!!!!

  • Love Linda Eder, her voice is amazing!!

  • what an absolutely stunning performance!

    loved it!

  • tbh I prefer Coleen Sexton's portrayal. Just had so much more depth of character and the singing is better too. Way more variety.

  • it only came in through the middle--it's great and all...just wish it was the whole thing.

  • This is great and all, but no one sings this song like my friend Sara. Still props to Linda Eder

  • just wow x

  • linda eder is the best lucy I've ever heard wow what a voice

  • goodness what an insane voice how does she not tear up her vocal chords?nothing in the human body could hold something like THAT o.o

  • I want the murder murder and the Alive segments. This was the best musical Jekyll and Hyde the rest of them was just plain karioke

  • Wow, that was freaking BEAUTIFUL!

  • WOW!

  • colleen's performance is fun to listen to but linda really puts passion behind the words

  • God, I love her.

    <3

  • OHMYGOD!!!

    *bows down*

  • Hey I LOVE this musical how in the world did you get these versions they are like IMPOSSIBLE to find. Also do you have Confrontation? That is my favorite song and I've seen it with Hasslehoff (rolls eyes lol) but Robert Cuccioli is sooo much better. I really want to see him preform it cause I never have. Let me know. Thanks : ]

  • ditto

  • seriously, i've been seraching for that for AGES

  • Great video. It was fun to see Linda do the song instead of just hearing her.

  • I just saw her in concert on Valentine's Day and she sung this song. It was so amazing. Tears were about to bust through my eyes. They finally did at one point in the concert lol.

  • OH MY GOD SHE IS AMAZING!

  • i think linda has got this song hands down but i would give a new life to colleen........she nailed that song 100%

  • Now, is she supposed to be in love with him?

  • yes. jekyll is caught in the middle of a love triangle. but only in the musical. in the book there's no love interest in the book.

  • es mag sängerinnen geben, die besser ausgebildet sind. aber sie überzeugt mich vollkommen.. ich finde sie strahlt soetwas aus, was mich umhaupt.. wirklich wunderschön gesungen!

  • oh i love this! I've never heard the song before, but i was playing it in my piano book. So i looked it up on here and this is just beautiful! I'm gonna download the CD on my zune now. this is BETTER THAN POTO! (and for me that's saying SOOOO much)

  • who even has a zune?...

  • I DO! They'r actually sooo much better than ipods.

  • The problem with writing a show for a specific person's voice is that, while others may act as well or better, the vocals can never match up. Amazing job, Linda!

  • ms. sexton is a better actress then ms. eder....but ms eder is a much more gifted vocalist

  • I am going to have to disagree. While I understand this is your opinion, I find that Linda Eder had more subtle choices which caused her character to come across more realistic and relatable. Colleen Sexton, on the other hand, came across very dramatic and grandiose. I found it difficult to take her seriously.

  • Although everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I'm going to strongly disagree with this. I find it difficult to find a single acting choice Linda Eder makes. I believe the "subtle acting choices" you are talking about are her half hearted attempts at the blocking that her and Coleen Sexton both do. Linda sings the role brilliantly, no doubt about that. But let's not let her voice blind us about her clear weakness, which is acting. Coleen came across "dramatic"? Well, yes. It's Broadway.

  • i agree with you.

i don't think either is better; they're amazing in their own ways and of course: everyone is better at something :)

i loved this performance though.. the acting is very subtle and the voice just perfect.

  • ABSOLUTLEY AMAZING!!!

  • that is just amazing!

  • This is beautiful. I wish I could sing like this...:3

  • you wouldn't happen to have "In His Eyes" or something with Christiane Noll other than "Take Me As I Am" would you?

  • there is an in his eyes with christiane noll and linda eder though its not on stage, its more of them being guests in a show singing in his eyes

  • can you post the link? i really want to see it!

  • is this from the tour?

  • I bow down to Linda Eder. She is just so wonderful to watch and her voice is so beautiful, it makes me happy! :)

  • Linda is Lucy Harris and always will be.

  • @MichaelCrawfordsFan completely true

  • Wow, what an amazing voice. Gave me goosebumps.

  • gave me bumps too!!! WOW is right!!!!

  • I love her voice, the power, so nice to listen too.

  • Renethel - In response to your Christine comment, you are absolutely right, there have been MUCH better Christines than Sarah Brightman, but in MY opinion, I don't think that is a comparable situation to Linda Eder and Lucy, as Linda Eder's voice is incredible, and she plays Lucy a million times better than Sarah Brightman played Christine - BUT I totally agree with your comment about there being much better Christines!

  • I like Linda Eder as a vocalist. She doesn't seem to ACT the role of Lucy, though. Whereas with Coleen Sexton, I thought that she nailed the character down, to a T, but her vocals weren't that great.

  • i completely agree. coleen's voice isn't as dark as linda's. but coleen commits so much more to the character. wish we could put them together!

  • that is EXACTLY what i was thinking!!!

    i prefer linda's voice and coleen's acting, i guess.

lol. i wanna put them together too!!

  • she is amazing, her voice kinda has similar elements to barbara streisands .... they're both incredble

  • Yeah, I read somewhere that Barbra Streisand was one of her role models growing up. I agree, they are both amazing ^^

  • Nice! If you enjoy this video, please check out Melissa O'Keefe - Someone Like You. Thanks for your support!

  • amazing

    where did you get this?

  • Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You have to remember that Linda was on a Talent search show and she lucked up with the role Lucy because she married Frank Wildhorn. She IS a singer. Her acting is more mature while Coleen is naive. In the end the role was written FOR Linda. Enough said. It's just a personal preference. Both are believable in my opinion.

  • Christine Daae was written for Sarah Brightman (in Phantom), but I have seen much better Christines.

  • what?

  • it was a reply to BJTDancer.

  • Such an amazing voice....sigh

  • When I saw Jekyll and Hyde, I sat transfixed by the beautiful music. Linda Eder totally blew me away. I left my seat and floated everytime she sang.

  • woah shes incredible! :D

  • WOW is right!

  • WOW ... just wow !!!

  • LINDAAAAAAAA

  • amazinggg<3

  • I love Linda. Thank you for sharing this with us! :-)

  • I went to see jekyll and hyde the lady was rubbish compared to linda eder she is fantastic such a great voice

  • The only Lucy, basically. :)

  • The most amazing Lucy ever.
