  • OK 64 don"t disagree the model L is where my Dad and myself got started, but being 94 yrs old it is a little easyer to sit and not walk behind as, far as anybody's but being kicked. Also as far as being pretty all these tractor are original, no makeovers here. Not sure why the negative, but you are the first after many hits. Tom

  • Model L and any other Gravely walk-Behind will kick these riding tractors butts any day! who care if the are not the prettiest thing out there

  • Thanks Cato it was worth it. Tom

  • 94 and still at it cant beat it good son

  • Local, I know what you are saying after putting up with the briggs 16 single and the k-12 single, the vibration is annoying, would recomend kohler mag 18 or honda 24 as replacement, a twin makes everything much more tolerable. Thanks for checking the site out. Tom

  • The Onan twin that is on some of these tractors makes them wonderful to use. I had one on mine and then the crankshaft got messed up where the flywheel bolts on. Got a parts tractor with a Kohler 14 horse "K" series one-cylinder and put the Kohler on my former Onan tractor. Now the thing vibrates so much that I can't put my feet on the floorboards. They get numb from the vibration. Now I need a rebuildable Onan CCKA motor so that I can get back in the groove!

  • Great Vid hope your Dads ok love the garage full of Gravely,s i had an L model as a teen then went to the 12 horse does Gravely make an attachment to get the driveway gravel off the roof from the snowblower lol they throw some snow ace any task changing attachments in minutes as good at one thing as anything else have a Great night Brendan

  • @wasted6666 , Thanks Brendan for checking it out, funny stuff about the snowblower. T.

  • I grew up with this same tractor. My father bought an 818-T when I was very young (likely only 7-8 years old). He used it primarily as a lawn tractor to cut his grass (3/4 of an acre - the Sears tractor just wasn't doing well. When I was 12, Dad taught me to use it, and I cut the grass at his place for years. The other uses that this solid tractor was put to: plowing snow, tilling gardens, pulling stumps, towing cars, etc. This tractor is nothing but solid.

  • @obsidian468 , Thank-you for cking it out, I think somebody refered to this tractor as being a beast, I just did some snowblowing with it and am going to post another demo of it's capability, nothing lugs it down! Thanks again and stay tuned. Tom

  • Sounds like you treated him well. I worked hard to always remember how patient he was with me growing up. I think neither of us had any regrets in our relationship when we said goodbye. When your Dad recalled how you got mad as hell starting the L sounded just like something Poppa would say about me when I'd start ours. I laughed out loud but I'm not laughing now. He is gone now more than 5 years. I'd be happy to carry him anywhere if he were here.

  • @sequoyah59 ,Thank-you sequoyah for that profound insite, we and our Dads walk together now step by step, as you say you would carry him anywhere, you are. Long live our Pops in sprit and memories. Tom

  • I was tilling last weekend with my 816S with an Onan. Mine is a rear tiller - the front looks like it would help the weight balance. I often sit on the hood and drive it backwards when tilling.

My dad bought it in 1972. $3,000 with mower and tiller and attachments. A lot of years and a lot of acres and it's still a hoss. Dad always bragged on the investment he made. He left us a year back . Enjoy both those old boys in the video!

  • @1971Muscle , Thanks for the visit, would be cool if you could put a video up of yours in action.

  • your very lucky to have the ol boy still around. and gettin around pretty good too. enjoy him while you can. best of all, he still works for his supper.

  • @colbycous01 , Thanks for your thoughts, we did have him along time and he did very well. We lost him Dec. 28th a good life with no regrets. Thanks again

  • Great video, thanks for sharing.

  • @joepinehill , Thanks Joe

  • This is a GREAT video with you and your dad!!!!!!!!!!

  • I am proud to see this video of your dad. It seems like he loves tractors. I have a gravely with a rotary plow on it and a mower that goes on the front. I bet yaw have a lot of great memories together

  • @jasontroyburch , Thank-you Jason! yes to all of what you said, pretty neat what you see, made me feel proud too. You made my day. Thanks a Mill. Tom

  • @golfcarttractor , Thanks for your comment golf

  • Hi,nice vid, have a 816 Onan 2 cyl, with snowplow and rear tiller and central mower, nice collection, cool dad hope the mine live that long, too weak to leave the house, sorry to hear that your dad is gone, wish it wont happen soon, thanks.

  • @ymeunier ,Funny how things shake-out the urgency that I felt in doing this video and losing him soon after was a year in the making, I had to get the mechanics of everything to work and the right time to shoot the vid. the dividens from this are comments such as your and others that has made it worth while, if there is anything I can do to help you with your Gravely please don't hesitate to contact me, thank-you for taking the time to post your comment. Tom

  • Are these all of your dad's tractors? Is this your dad's property? He's doing great for 94!

  • @lobsterbox20 , We lost our father on dec. 28th, yes this was his property originaly 60 acres he bought back in 1956 it became a quarter horse farm sold off the acreage back in the mid eighties now a sub. the only tractor of his is the 75 the rest are mine, been kind of a partnership since and a hobby for me to have keep him going. thanks for your post.

  • @thomase19 Oh, I'm sorry about your dad.

  • This was the first video I saw of yours, Its the BEST video EVER. In my opion. Best of machinery, Best of partners. Thanks

  • Thanks for posting this. You're great with your dad by the way. I was thinking of setting up a tiller just like yours on my 812. It looks like it works just fine.

  • Thanks for the kind words, if there is anything I can do to help with your project please feel free to ask.

  • wow $2,200 that was a ton of money back then Simplicity were pretty expensive also

  • He was saying I should start a dealership and sell Gravely's

  • I have a similar Gravely that my dad bought in the 70s with a 16 hp Briggs (model 816). My forward clutch went out last fall. Can you give me some advice on how to properly change this clutch? My clutches rattled loud like the ones in your video, but something snapped on the forward clutch, located above the axle. Something is loose in there, and I just want to change it. I need advice. Thank you.
