There's nothing wrong with indie games. Being "indie" doesn't mean a thing if your game sucks. Which from what I've heard from both critics and MMOG veterans is the case with DarkFail.

Thanks for your response about Torque, much appreciated. Darkfall is ready and fully released. But they are selling limited amounts of copies right now. If you check the "news" section on official forums that explains how to get a copy and when you need to buy it. Darkfall used a custom built engine, they didn't even opt for the unreal engines. Very interesting stuff, I'm talking costume designed cluster servers rivaling EVE online.
Actually, in the frames where UO showed up it was usually used for nostalgia or homage. It was the "real world" that makes all the others seem too shallow or candied for them.

1st Person MMOs have been done before and the result was clunky slow combat.
This kind of combat just doesn't work in MMOs.
And no levels? come on skills are the levels, you will grind them like you grind levels. You can kid yourself all you want that this will be the next wow but the fact of the matter is, after the the bulk have left because of the boring slow combat, it will have a small following of only die hard fans who have followed the game since announcement.

After 12 years of playing different MMORPGS, there is finally a light, darkfall is coming, and i can stop playing tibia and such, i dont even have to mention all wow/wow-like games that is not real MMORPGS, RPG stands for ROLE PLAYING GAME, and so finally we dont have to withstand 12-yearolds with lvl 100 characters that fights with F1, F2, F3 and F4 keys to win their battles, What matters now is soul, skills and rethorical skills to conquer the lands of darkfall!
There is no endless grinding like WoW/EQ style. Gathering trade resources might be grinding.. but w/e... I see this like Shadowbane..

Thanks for your response about Torque, much appreciated. Darkfall is ready and fully released. But they are selling limited amounts of copies right now. If you check the "news" section on official forums that explains how to get a copy and when you need to buy it. Darkfall used a custom built engine, they didn't even opt for the unreal engines. Very interesting stuff, I'm talking costume designed cluster servers rivaling EVE online.

Actually, in the frames where UO showed up it was usually used for nostalgia or homage. It was the "real world" that makes all the others seem too shallow or candied for them.

Darkfall has a disproportionate number of people who have been using the internet since the days when it wasn't a mass phenomenon. It positions itself as an extremely innovative and complex game, which scares of those not looking for something challenging and unique, as well as elitist.

1st Person MMOs have been done before and the result was clunky slow combat.
This kind of combat just doesn't work in MMOs.
And no levels? come on skills are the levels, you will grind them like you grind levels. You can kid yourself all you want that this will be the next wow but the fact of the matter is, after the the bulk have left because of the boring slow combat, it will have a small following of only die hard fans who have followed the game since announcement.

After 12 years of playing different MMORPGS, there is finally a light, darkfall is coming, and i can stop playing tibia and such, i dont even have to mention all wow/wow-like games that is not real MMORPGS, RPG stands for ROLE PLAYING GAME, and so finally we dont have to withstand 12-yearolds with lvl 100 characters that fights with F1, F2, F3 and F4 keys to win their battles, What matters now is soul, skills and rethorical skills to conquer the lands of darkfall!

There is no endless grinding like WoW/EQ style. Gathering trade resources might be grinding.. but w/e... I see this like Shadowbane..
Infact I hope in many ways it is like Shadowbane 2..
No mystical force forcing me to ally with HALF of the Drool Cups on the server.. can't wait for the first month of the game to pass and see all the people that quit, it will be Bye'z to the little WoW Kiddies, true PvP'rs will have a home.

I've tried WoW, SWG, MxO, lots of MMO's.
Darkfall promises to be entirely skill based, freeing us from the chains of pallet-professions that force us on a single path until we quit the game. We form our own classes, from countless skills and abillities. The NPC cities will exist, yes. But only in slight comparison to the countless cities made by clans. It is going to be amazing. No levels, no restrictions, you see a guy, feel free to kill him.

Also, people making a big deal about MMOs not being "Hardcore": If you are so into doing something that takes "mad skillz," please realize a MMO (maybe in the future) will never be as "skill" based as a fighting game, FPS, etc. If it is that important for people to know your mad sklls, maybe you should do something in REAL LIFE, such as martial arts or a sport, and quit playing VIDEOGAMES to show your "skills" at pressing buttons.
