  • Dude, how can you disagree with Douglas Gresham????? He's Lewis's son and he is brilliant!!..

I think Lewis would aprove of the minotaur change. From a Christian standpoint it shows an element of forgiveness, a theme lewis already portrayed well in many other areas.

Plus Gresham said in another interview that Lewis would have understood the changes made.

I think Gresham is awesome and I trust him with these films.

  • How can I disagree with Gresham? Well, he said something that I didn't agree with. ;)

And sorry, I'm a purist even on these details: He's his stepson, not his son. ;)

I don't with it would be wise to agree with anybody just because of who their stepdad was.

  • Well, there are the dwarves which kinda swing both ways, theoretically the Minotaurs could be the same sort of thing. Minotaurs simply aren't even really addressed in the book.

As far as reconciliation of old foes goes, I think Edmund is a good example, but that doesn't necessarily translate to the minotaurs. All in all, I don't think it will be a huge deal.

  • I know a lot of people probobly dont want to see an attraction between Susan and Caspian, but I think it would make the story more interesting. But, whats done is done. They are not filming anymore, but working on the final stuff.

  • On the contrary, I think it would make the story far less interesting. The most interesting part of the PC book is the idea of these figures out of Caspian's bedtime stories coming to life, and offering him their help. Imagine how amazing that is for Caspian! A romance is a big distraction from Caspian's awe of the Pevensies. It would be taking a fascinating concept and bubble gumming it.

  • Yeah, you`re right. But me, only being 13, dont really know whats best for a story. I just think about things that I like most of the time and say: "Oh, it would have been cool it they would have done this," but I know I will love the movie regardless!

  • I'm glad you're so sure you're going to like it. ;) I'm certaintly not sure I will.

  • Well, I hope you do. I just liked the first movie so much ;)

  • Caspian's awe of the Pevensies eventually becomes a true friendship. It wouldn't be completely out of the realm of possibility for him to develop romantic feelings for Susan. My preference would be for it to be more of an unspoken attraction, left open for interpretation. Rather than a full blown romance. Let people read into what they want.

  • Also! In light of what's been said since about meeting up Caspian with the Pevensies earlier on, I suspect Gresham's elusiveness on the true-to-the-book question has mainly to do with that... I do hope that's all it is, though that in itself could range from minor distraction to terrible, terrible disappointment. I trust they will be delicate with it, but their attempt at delicacy might not come to the same conclusion as mine would. It's a slippery slope, is all.

  • I think it makes sense to give Caspian some sort of a moment to "win his spurs" (as I thought Peter was cheated of a bit when Maugrim sort of FELL on his sword *sigh*) so that the audience feels assured that he WILL be capable of leading when Aslan and the Pevensies leave... however, I agree with you that giving the duel with Miraz to him instead of Peter defeats some of the thematic advantages of the book, and if they do so I will be likewise upset.
