This is the year that Lydon made his New York debut. The Pistols never played New York City till 1996 at Roseland. There were 2 New York City shows for PiL's debut. Gildersleaves and The Palladium. I was at both shows. I remember at the Palladium show, at the end John left the stage and the band kept playing, and he never told the band he was leaving and they kept playing till they realized that he wasn't returning. They just stopped playing and eventually left the stage.
Fuckin great Vid...i Love the origonal PIL line up...such a great sound...so origonal it was a kind of Punk/Avante garde/psychadelia sound...pity it is not vcaptured so well on this live clip...Keiths Guitar has lost its razor edged jangly quality...that is part of that early PIL sound
thanks for posting...Love your Stranglers stuff as well two great bands
This is the Palladium, my first PiL show and fucking awesome!
Went with a bunch of my Deadhead / PiL fans and had a wild time. Great acid music. In the 70's I would have three day
'Pop culture festivals and space cowboy roundups' which were acid tests. When things were humming I'd slip on some Sex Pistols and PiL and folks loved it.
Me too! PIL and lots of acid. All my longhair friends thought I had lost my fuckin mind for good. They were listening to Skynerd. So I say they were more fucked in the head than me! Ha!
