  • Who that actually watched this race when it happened would have guessed that Murray would commentate for 32 more years. Murray is and always will be the best F1 commentator to ever live.

  • Gives me goosebumps every time I see that clip.

  • definitely Murray, the man's timeless, there's even a little one of his gaffes in there, he thinks it's Rindt (2) outbraking Stewart at the Parabolica but it's Beltoise (22) instead. Leading at the last corner at Monza in those days you were virtually guaranteed not to win

  • Damn, why the hell can't f1 of today give us a finish like this?

No wonder I like the classic f1 days

  • at 39 sec. NOBODY HAS EVER SEEN THE END OF A MOTOR RACE LIKE THAT,,,, GIVE IT 10 MORE YEARS WE GOT A DOOZY COME TO YOU AT DIJON.

  • Epic stuff. "AND IT'S ALMOST A DEAD HEAT! ITS JACKIE STEWART, RINDT, BELTOISE, AND MCLAREN! NOBODY AHS EVER SEEN THE FINSIH OF A MOTOR RACE LIKE THIS!" You gotta love Murray. If there was only some way he could be kept alive for ever. Thats a great quote but doesnt quite beat 1997 Hungary for me...."IM COMING THROUGH! AND DAMON HILL LEADS!!!!!!!!!! OH BOY THIS IS FANTSATIC! Murray just looses all composure when it came to damon.

  • Sheesh, guys! LOL I never thought I started a controversy like this. My sincere apologies and there is enough proof that I was wrong. Thanks for your info.

  • it is he...he debut in 1949 then he was 27 years old...voice are changed, but sountrack and technicals of sound is to/

  • It is Murray Walker. It's a clip taken from a program called Grand Prix 500 made by the BBC in 1994 to celebrate the 500 Grand Prixs that had been held. Murray had a series of "Murray's moments" for each decade, he chose his favourite races. I think that piece of film uses the TV pictures that might have had a different commentator originally (Raymond Baxter) but now with Murray's original BBC radio commentary over the top.

  • it really does sound like Murray Walker, but wasnt this before he was commentating?

  • The giveaway that it's Murray Walker - note he says "Rindt going through" then half way around the Parabolica someone shouts "Beltoise", and then suddenly Murray says "Beltoise going through" to cover himself!

  • Just to give you an extra little insight, Jackie Stewart specifically selected his fourth gear ration so that he didn't have to change up to fifth until AFTER the start finish line, and that won him the race!!! Thanks to whoever put this on, it's incredible.

  • It couldn't be Murray Walker any more if it tried.

  • Oh well, whatever. His voice has a very characteristic tone which I don't find in this video. However, I'm not gonna fight over it. Everybody has opinions and must be respected as such. Peace :-)

  • that IS murray walker, no mistake.

  • I agree.

  • Uhm, I'm sorry to say that the commentator is not Murray Walker. The finish is one of the most thrilling, along with Monza 1967 and Monza 1970.

  • That is MOST DEFINITELY Murray Walker. Not only does it sound like him, he's been commentating on racing since WW2.

  • READ BELOW!

  • From Wikipedia. "Walker made his debut in 1949 alongside Max Robertson."

Anyone who has any doubt that Murray is the voice on that clip needs their head, or possibly ears examined.

  • Murray Walker at his best!
