She was hilarious in everything she did. I watch all her movies. Loved her in History of the World Part I, Young Frankenstein, and all others. And when she would do Barbara Walters in SNL... super funny!
Mel Brooks is quoted as saying that either as an actress or comedienne you couldn't beat Madeline Kahn. Anyone seeing this Marlene Dietrich parody of her playing Lili Von Schtupp would have to agree. Absolutely wonderful!. Hard to beleive she has been gone for over ten years now.
@dsindc. Yes, & both of them died from ovarian cancer. Madelin Kahn at 57 &, even more sadly, Gilda Radner at only 42. By the way, there is a great comedy routine between the two of them that can be seen here on You-Tube. Check it out if you haven't already done so!.
@hotwok19 Hey hotwok19.... Thanks for that ! I did not know of the routine the two did together and I will take a look. A million thanks for the info.
Wonderful performance.Must be one of the best musical scenes ever. The German dancers behind her a marvellous.Never fails to make me laugh.Too bad Madellne died far too soon. The world lost a great lady.
this is on the box set "Warner Brothers 75 Years Entertaining The World: Film Music" I had not watched this film in a long time, the audience loved it. Madeline Kahn was AWESOME on "Cosby"!!!
In the the interview with Gene Wilder, he mentioned that it was hard for Madeline Kahn (who was classically trained), to sing "badly," as her role called for... c'mon, it's Mel Brooks, man!
That's tough, and probably a personal issue. I love this song, always have...but one other that I've enjoyed very much is her rendition of Clarence "Frogman" Henry's "Ain't Got No Home" that she performed on SNL and a few other comedy shows. Just genius and shows how versatile her voice was. It used to be on YouTube...try looking for it.
this bitch is flat and funny!! I love this movie and this actress is top notch in comedic timing. but that to be expected. most of these actors come from the same cloth as Carol Burnet, Tim Conway, Harvey Corman, ect ect. SIMPLY THE BEST!!!
funniest song ever .... i piss myself laughin everytime as if it was the very first time i saw it!!!! ROFL LMAO!!! :P god damn it im exhausted!! best line in the song. :P
sorry babe....the only thing those two vids have in common is cowboys and a german accent......i'll give that while Ms Kahn is doing a Dietrich-esque character....the scene is ALL HERS....she owns every note, every laugh, every maribu stuck to her outfit....i've been watching this scene since i was a little boy in 1973 and i STILL laugh....at MADELINE....not Marlene.....it's called comedic genius.
This is my new theme tune. Sick of assholes in my life.
