This review is pretty tasteless considering its nothing but this guy bitching about a good phone because he has nothing better to do. Also considering its only a minute and 50 seconds long so obviously he couldn't really think of that much to gripe about. Especially since his complaints are those as trivial and childish as the only three buttons on the phone not lighting up. OMG. End of the world right?!
The Eternity fucking sucks. I had it for 2 freaking years and it was hell. The screen is the worst i had ever had in my life. There is absolutely nothing interesting in it. Note that the guy in the video keeps on saying what it does not have. I would be more satisfied with a razor than with this phone. I now have an HTC inspire and it is SOOO MUCH BETTER. Probably better than my previous iPhone4.

give it some time, the proprietary power/data port will die and you won't be able to charge the phone. the "new pc studio" is one of the most unreliable applications i've ever worked with, you might spend 15-20 minutes just trying to transfer a single file off this phone. the sound quality is garbage, a $15 nokia 2610 sounds a couple orders of magnitude better. after owning cell phones since around 1996, i can honestly say this is the worst i've encountered. ever.
stupid boy! the "no events bar" is for when you get a message from someone. if you didnt have that, you wouldnt get notification that you have missed a call or got a message. i know. i have the phone and i downloaded a virus accidently and it deleted my no events widget. i fixed it now though.
I will i guess give it this. I liked accelerometer and the dice app. I just wish there were more apps for the phone other than the apps that come preloaded that you have to pay monthly for. As for speed dial i hardly ever used that. Also, the phone's haptic feedback response was pretty cool as well. Something else i will note if ringtones is a deal breaker for you then this is not the phone for you. The phone has a ringtone limit of 300kb. Overall good basic phone I think.

if you think about it the eternity does have speed dial cuz what he didn't show you is that let's say you had a contact who's number what 259-1234 if you started dialing 259 that contact would pop up in a little box above the numbers or if it wasn't the first number to pop up there's an arrow to scroll through the numbers that start with 259 till you find it which would probably be only the 2nd or 3rd one hope this helps (:

This phone 100% sucks. I had it for a month, then got an iPhone. The Eternity has the worse touch screen I have ever used. The phone has LOW customization features. Bad bad bad phone.
4) Soft keys and multitask buttons have never been customizable on ANY cell phone I have ever had so, I don't know why you're whining. Plus, unlike some phones, you can go straight to the main menu from the multitask key.
5)There are 3 keys you have to remember...get over it that they don't light up.
If it doesn't do much for you, pay a zillion dollars for an iPhone.
1) The "Today" widget (The one with the date) needs to be reloaded. (Put it back on the widget bar and take it off again to reload) That sucks, I know.
2) The "Events" widget isn't for the calendar, it's for when you get a text message and when you get a missed call.
3) No speed dial...I know, really lame BUT the phone book has a "favourites" category.
theres a speed dial, set your contacts into your sim card, and dial the number that it is on your sim. Ex. Your 5th contact will be speed dial 5. Dial 5 and send and itll call them
The date problem I can understand but everything else, man you are the lazyest s.o.b. And why do you need a light for the answer and end keys there's only 3 keys at the bottom use your memory, send key left side, end key right side just that simply.

the " no event 'software flaw' " is not a flaw ata all. if some body txts u and u dont open it, u drag the box into the widget bar and thats the widget, it dosnt mean calendar events.
and as omnomnom said, u have a messed up one because ive had one since around easter, and it works fine. its just a quality control error on your particular phone. i do agree on your point about about the non customizable soft buttons. except the one on the side. its a shortcut key, u shouldnt program it.
Its 2009. Speed Dial is for retards. Contacts, type in the first letter of the name, and off you go. And if you dislike the widgets, why not disable them all as this is the only phone that's not a smart phone, that even has them, be thankful.

take your day and date widget and put it back in the sidebar and open the calender and click on the day and then bring your day and date widget out and it should update.

thats cause when you go to your event lists in the calender, it lists all events that you have written down whether it is 5 months away or not, but that event widget is for events that are happening today....

I've had the Eternity for almost a week now, and I absolutely love it. Here's some comments I have for your video:
1) I use the calendar widget, which I think its better since you can see the whole entire month. And it also highlights today's date--never had a problem with it not updating.
2) I agree, event widget sucks..but u can go to the event list
3)no speed dials = :( when using bluetooth, but i heard something about a software update coming out soon

It's so cute & slick but I agree w/ him on everything he said. It'd be nice to choose wiggits, the side 'quick key' menu, & I want lit up green/red buttons.
you honestly dont need the green/red/return buttons to light up... there are only three buttons, is it that hard to remember that the green key is on the far left, the return key is in the middle, and the red key is on the far right... its common sense. and if you need a phone to know what the date is, you have a problem.... ya you cant customize it very much but its still an amazing phone. and who needs speed dial when all you have to do is go to the contact you want and push a green phone
I love my Eternity and I don't have any of the flaws that you have. When you access the events from the widget panel, that gives you the events for the current day. Speed Dial on the Eternity is listed as "Favorites", as far as the date, you should go to your local AT&T store to see if they can do a software update on your phone ~OR~ you could try power-cycling your phone at least once daily so that it could keep an updated date/time..
Trade it in?? WHY??? There are 500 and something reviews I've seen for the samsung eternity and everyone rates it 5/5! And wow, some of the "flaws" you talked about aren't even flaws, do some research before making a video XD

For the time: It was a lag. It happens to ALL phones. Just drag it back to the widgets bar and take it out.
For event widget: That's for missed calls and new messages.
For the speed dial: Go to contacts, edit them and put symbols/numbers(1.Amy) at the front.
For the Widgets: You're fucking lucky they even gave you widgets.
Who cares if it doesn't light up, your ass doesn't light up. Your ass can't get customized either, so let the Eternity be. Screw you, you cunt.

I got around the speed dial issue...
In the contacts list I listed the first 7 people with numbers in front of their name.
1 NAME
2 NAME
3 NAME
4 NAME
5 NAME
6 NAME
7 NAME
That way all I have to do is hit contacts then the green telephone next to whomever I want to call. I consider that a form of speed dial.

if you think about it the eternity does have speed dial cuz what he didn't show you is that let's say you had a contact who's number what 259-1234 if you started dialing 259 that contact would pop up in a little box above the numbers or if it wasn't the first number to pop up there's an arrow to scroll through the numbers that start with 259 till you find it which would probably be only the 2nd or 3rd one hope this helps (:

This phone 100% sucks. I had it for a month, then got an iPhone. The Eternity has the worse touch screen I have ever used. The phone has LOW customization features. Bad bad bad phone.

4) Soft keys and multitask buttons have never been customizable on ANY cell phone I have ever had so, I don't know why you're whining. Plus, unlike some phones, you can go straight to the main menu from the multitask key.
5)There are 3 keys you have to remember...get over it that they don't light up.
If it doesn't do much for you, pay a zillion dollars for an iPhone.

1) The "Today" widget (The one with the date) needs to be reloaded. (Put it back on the widget bar and take it off again to reload) That sucks, I know.
2) The "Events" widget isn't for the calendar, it's for when you get a text message and when you get a missed call.
3) No speed dial...I know, really lame BUT the phone book has a "favourites" category.

theres a speed dial, set your contacts into your sim card, and dial the number that it is on your sim. Ex. Your 5th contact will be speed dial 5. Dial 5 and send and itll call them

the " no event 'software flaw' " is not a flaw ata all. if some body txts u and u dont open it, u drag the box into the widget bar and thats the widget, it dosnt mean calendar events.
and as omnomnom said, u have a messed up one because ive had one since around easter, and it works fine. its just a quality control error on your particular phone. i do agree on your point about about the non customizable soft buttons. except the one on the side. its a shortcut key, u shouldnt program it.

my eternity freezes in the middle of texting. i have to press the hold key, then press it again to unfreeze it...not that big of a deal.
but yeah, your eternity has problems, cause my events work and the date chnges on its own

Its 2009. Speed Dial is for retards. Contacts, type in the first letter of the name, and off you go. And if you dislike the widgets, why not disable them all as this is the only phone that's not a smart phone, that even has them, be thankful.

I have to agree with these people.. the eternity is an amazing phone, i've had it for 2 days now and I haven't had any problems. I've played on it constantly since I purchased it. Just like they said you should have done your research before you purchased a phone, maybe there is a flaw in your thought process XD.

YOU IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!! it does have speed dial. if u actually typed the area code and atleast two other numbers the person that has those first few digits name will show up . then u can click on it from there. and if u dont like the phone take it back cuz no one wants to hear u complain about a good phone that maybe doesnt have some features on it that u like. take your day and date widget and put it back in the sidebar and open the calender and click on the day and then bring your day and date widget out and it should update.

thats cause when you go to your event lists in the calender, it lists all events that you have written down whether it is 5 months away or not, but that event widget is for events that are happening today....

I've had the Eternity for almost a week now, and I absolutely love it. Here's some comments I have for your video:
1) I use the calendar widget, which I think its better since you can see the whole entire month. And it also highlights today's date--never had a problem with it not updating.
2) I agree, event widget sucks..but u can go to the event list
3)no speed dials = :( when using bluetooth, but i heard something about a software update coming out soon

Wow -- Had this phone for just over a week now (from phone I WAS using, this is a major upgrade) ... & I have to say this guy's review is spot on.
It's so cute & slick but I agree w/ him on everything he said. It'd be nice to choose wiggits, the side 'quick key' menu, & I want lit up green/red buttons.

you honestly dont need the green/red/return buttons to light up... there are only three buttons, is it that hard to remember that the green key is on the far left, the return key is in the middle, and the red key is on the far right... its common sense. and if you need a phone to know what the date is, you have a problem.... ya you cant customize it very much but its still an amazing phone. and who needs speed dial when all you have to do is go to the contact you want and push a green phone

I love my Eternity and I don't have any of the flaws that you have. When you access the events from the widget panel, that gives you the events for the current day. Speed Dial on the Eternity is listed as "Favorites", as far as the date, you should go to your local AT&T store to see if they can do a software update on your phone ~OR~ you could try power-cycling your phone at least once daily so that it could keep an updated date/time..

man dood your shouldnt do any reviews considering you dont do enough research.. the event widget is to let you know if you miss a call or text message something like that its not at all related to your calender. the button on the side is a mutlitask button it not suppose to be customizable its so you can do things while in a call ie play games or browse the net.. giving you the ability to transfer data and voice simultaniusly

really? your upset about not having speed dial? How lazy are you. And the buttons not lighting up? You have a 3.2 inch bright screen to see the buttons with. Plus the bottom lights up when you get a call. And the "software issue" with the calender isn't even a software issue...you have to drag the events to your widget. Please disregard this video if you are going to purchase this phone. The only thing i really see that is better on the iphone is the browser.
