  • Nice alternate version.

  • what bothers me is the "cuckoo" - since this is the bird known to throw his eggs

into foreign nest ---> maybe a hint on gabriel´s disbelief in family bounds,-

or just a similarity of words, or maybe both at the same time ,- i guess this was written in a rather witty stae of mind, where even rhymes and coincidence make sense, and genesis were real masters of this game, weren´t they??, who knows -

their music give me shivers for sure

  • @MoveOverCasanova

i use it in the isolation manner

and it is fully embedded into the story

in one song peter gabriel says: i talk in pictures not in words

    (it's: and through the wire)

  • sometimes i pipe is just a pipe

  • i rarely heard such sensitive yet wicked music

  • i understand the lyrics pretty well i think, the cuckoo cocoon imo is some metaphore for the dreamy deep state (Rael/maybe peter himself) is in too much too soon in his life! Like, as young you are supossed to have ambitions and high hopes for the future where Rael is just, gone!

  • Many of the sounds ( mainly guitar parts) were removed to make room for PG's vocal lines. The first of many events that led to Steves discontent. Would have been interesting to hear what was originally intended.

  • i sometimes have sleep paralysis, and it feels far from

being comfortably wrapped up. your heads wants you to move, but your body fails... feels like a nightmare

  • Since Peter has stated that The Lamb was inspired by his dreams, I'm pretty sure this song is influenced by sleep paralysis. SP is what happens when your body falls asleep before your mind and you feel "pleasantly wrapped up." It feels as though you are "gone" as your mind tries to cross over into your dream. Also, you may experience hypnogogic imagery and sounds such as "rain drops." SP is usually practiced by lucid dreamers to knowingly cross over into a dream. That's just my two cents.

  • Sounds like the "In the Beginning" bootleg series. I love these outtakes! Thank you for posting them!

  • this is tuned down.

  • this is excellent! But Phil's harmonization does not fit appropriatelly in the first part. It was well taken off.

  • I agree with that

  • I do too.

  • I think it does. To each his own. Is this from the forthcoming Lamb remix/reissue/remaster?

  • It sounds like it's from a bootleg with alternate mixes of the songs on there. They have several mixes of this, Carpet Crawlers, In The Rapids, Anyway, Lamia, Even has them jamming on what was to be Fly on a Windshield, and Peter working on sound effects for Waiting Room, and also has Evil Jam.

  • Oh. I see. This should be on the Lamb remix. When I bought the other reissues, I heard things I did not hear on the '94 remasters. Like extra guitar parts from Steve and a weird bell sound towards the end of Dance on a Volcano. Wonder how the upcoming reissues will sound

  • I would agree also, but in respect to the lyrics. "I guess that I'm alone" is an odd phrase to sing with an accompaniment.
