  • wow the truth comes out. after watching this i will never buy a toyota thats just crazy, but im glad your alright and god bless

  • You want safety, buy GERMAN cars! They rock! I have a BMW and a Volvo... They are BUILT LIKE A TANK! Very, VERY, VERY SAFE IMHO! :D

  • Yha the brakes on these cars are not so great either...and the traction control is useless as my car still spins if i push it hard enough... glad to see your okay though. My vote is BMW but they don't make anything this large... The Range Rover they designed I think is the best SUV ever made.

  • Ur fault you bought a toyota that was the point of this video.

  • toyota claim thmselves reliable..well,i tell u d's how many toyotas did u see in the farm, construction site or somewhere where the heavy job is?i found more that domestics r more reliabe..toyota r reliable in recall n telling lies..nissan is far more better than death toyota!

  • Im happy my dad didnt buy one of those junk Toyotas. He once thought of buying a Toyota Tundra, but didnt. Im happy our family stuck with our 07' GMC Sierra Denali. It is very good and we have not had one single problem, except for now we need to get new tires.

  • Wait until at least 50 people die, then maybe Toyota will recall them and call it a "victory" because they "saved money" (this really happened in the the Toyota throttle recall they called the recall good because they SAVED MONEY ON IT) fuck Toyota.

  • The bottomline is that toyota could care less if your family and loved ones die a terrifying death in a wreck caused by one of their cars... they are just now being exposed after all these years they sold their cars knowing the possible dangers.

  • wow dramatic! i like it.

  • @Brutality110 I bought a used 2007 Tundra TRD 5.7L with a terrible bed shaking problem; actually I think the frame is flexing/vibrating when I go over bumps. I was told they used cheap steel imported from China but who knows. I wedge a business card in the side of my radio to keep it from squeaking. I feel like my Tundra is a piece of cheap chinese junk.

  • Last Sunday there was a bad accident, on the Fl Turnpike, coming down from Orlando, I don't remember where though. Anyways, traffic suddenly stopped and as we approached the accident, it was a flipped over Sequoia white, just like yours probably the same year, on its passenger side. As it had just happened, a bunch of people stopped to help the person. Only one lane got by and no emergency help had arrived. The person looked pretty dead, on the side of the road, with some people helping him.

  • I love toyotas but I have been extremely dissapointed with them lately. I will look elsewhere for my next car

  • Holy Cow! I saw one just like yours today, flipped over on the Florida Turnpike, on its passenger side. Same color and I believe year as yours. I am not sure if the person survived. But they was on person laying there on the side of the road. Random people stopped to help, as it had just happened. I would suggest contacting the people or family of the ones involved in the crash today. It was March 21, 2010. Florida Turnpike

  • i am so glad this is happening..i couldn't hear some stupid fake americans say..i got my camry good deal..great car...bull shit..toyota sucks big time now

  • Toyota lies cover up,fraud pay offs, shame on the government ours and theirs. Fools would only support this company. Come out of the fog you can trust consumers reports like you can trust toyota for decades they have lied.

  • Toyota lies cover up,fraud pay offs, shame on the government ours and theirs. Fools would only support this company. Come out of the fog you can trust consumers reports like you can trust toyota for decades they have lied.

  • The Downfall of Toyota, big time...

  • the same thing happen whit my boss's truck

  • Fucking Bullshit! I've gotten 100 different types of spam, junkmail & other assorted BS after purchasing my '10 prius.I'm still left to "fend for myself" in this whole recall situation. I HAVE YET TO BE CONTACTED DIRECTLY FROM TOYOTA &/OR MY AAA SALESPERSON IN REGARDS TO THIS MATTER! Don't believe Toyotas anti-hype. Their fucking bean counters dragged their feet far too long on the matter analyzing their bottom line. Toyotas to blame 4 stock price getting HAMMERED & their poor market value loss.

  • did u know that SCION also has this problem. my friends gf had a xb or what ever one is a fuckin box on wheels had her driver side snap off while goin down the highway.

Honda also has this problem with thier cars even some of the hondas dont have the front suspension n parts that need grease is not there.

is it just me or is the japanese still mad at us after we drop the A-bomb on them i think they r getting back at us through thier cars or am i just being paranoid? i know im not paranoid.

  • What! Toyota not wanting to do a recall when warranted??? You don't say!!

Ask the over 3,000 Toyota owners who signed an online petition for engine oil sludge over one year after Toyota's "unprecedented and generous" CSP was initiated what they think!

Of course, Mr. Lentz hasn't given them the time of day! The NHTSA isn't after them about this serious engine malady so Toyota has no incentive to address it properly. Even after a class action lawsuit, the matter is still unresolved!!

  • ill never buy a foreign car, im a american and i buy american 2000 grand prix gtp 234,000 miles and 1996 suburban 322,000 miles still running and im still alive

  • Congratulations to most of the comments !!!! I read some of them and they are right , Iam happy knowing that some people write about how cheaters and liers the japanese TOYOTA corporation are- So many years playing with the innocent buyers !!! Go to japan and lie to your own jap people !!!

  • American cars are built with much better quality materials. The Japanese don't care about the safety of the consumer, so they use poor quality materials on their cars just to same money.

  • Toyota is still going to incredible lengths to suppress any public knowledge of their defects and failures. SPEAK OUT! Don't let them continue to bullshit the gullible and ignorant mainstream morons into blind loyalty to some japanese corporation!

  • im sure u will see toyota go or will be damn near bankrupt just watch. today there was an article on msnbc in the autos section talking about the cars that hasnt been recalled so i see another big recall coming soon.

  • Toyotas been overated for years. Became very popular in the late 70s because they were purchased a disproportionate amount by women because they were small and compact. Quality was quite lackluster. But many of the makers came here with excellent marketing and people bought it. Profits were made, put back into the vehicles and they actually began to produce decent yet ugly cars. Now the cars are better looking but quality has dropped and Americans have pretty much caught up if not surpassed.

  • Toyota is awful. Honda has been known to have front end problems as well. I have an 05 Silverado and yet i have never had any big problems with it. If your in the market for a japanese car... Go with Nissan or Infiniti.

  • toyota suck. supra good. stick with american cars no problems like this will ever happen

  • .....The majority of all Toyota vehicles have had recalls/tsb's on steering/suspension issues of some sort. People who sip the toyota Kool aid believe so much in their product they will lie about major problems with their vehicle when you ask them how reliable it has been. 2 guys I work with lied to my face about how reliable their 4 run./pk up w. 3l V6 - how they've got lots of miles with no major problems. Then I said 'What?! you've never blown a head gasket!? Both admitted they had twice

  • toyota has been peddling cheap crap for years. There reliability record was falsely built by essentially not reporting defects and secretly fixing them, unknowingly to their customers who thought they were getting routine maintenance. Anybody who investigates will find this to be true and when questioned recently about why so many defects Toyota replied - 'because the gov't is so diligent in forcing us to publicly reporting problems'. Toyota NEVER built great cars! cont'd...

  • You are right !! That is the true!!

  • GMC suburban: 335,000 miles

GMC sierra: 21 years old and 302,000 miles

I am still alive. Buy a chevy and save a life.

  • Agreed man, Keep it american. And chevy haha :)

98 tahoe with 150k no probs yet, still chuggin. ill get 15 more years out of her

  • Watch the TOYOTA SLUDGE video here. Go to the "Toyota Owners Unite for Resolution" to join others. Go to toyotaoilgeldotcom for details. Read autoresearcher's channel page.

  • american ppl are brainwashed into thinking of toyota quality ..toyota sucks ass ...i have 77 f 150...and it still has its original balljoints..my truck doesnt self accelarate ...down with toyota

  • yup, Toyota truly sucks

    buy GM or VW

  • i was luckly under warranty when my tacoma would snap into N or @nd gear by itself (2003 tacoma) but i was lucky they took care of it,gave me a hell of a run around but took care of it. i no longer have a need for a truck so i wont be trading it in but other wise its parked off to the side and i use it once in a while.

  • I buy Chrysler and have always been happy.

  • Toyota should stick to make Corrola and other berline.

  • i had a 02 corolla got it nov 01....it did nothing but die and burn oil...every weekend i had to put 2 quarts in..

  • I am glad that you are OK

And I just got a used 2001 SEQUOIA, i guess i will take my chances with that car....

  • Whenever an American car co. has a recall it is front page news..every news station in the country bashing the American car co..When an import car co. has a recall it is hidden from public, and their cars are still praised for reliability and "safety". Something's not right here.

  • Glad you are okay.

  • are there toyotas that are build in america?

  • YES TO AMERICAN CARS.

  • Toyota is also having another problem with 07 Tacomas that they have tired to cover up. The trucks have a shift control problem that causes them to accelerate with out warning it has almost cost people their lives. Toyota needs to steep up and stop trying to create a false perception of quality. Glad you are okay.

    BUY AMEICAN!!!

  • AGREE

  • TOYOTA AUTOS = BIG BICYCLES.

    Thank God You are OK.

  • Most Toyota 4X4 have no stability and very bad brakes which are good for bicycles.

  • "NHTSA Action Number:PE08072

Manufacturer : TOYOTA MOTOR NORTH AMERICA, INC.

    Year:2003 Model: SEQUOIA

Component : ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL Summary:

ODI HAS RECEIVED 50 CONSUMER COMPLAINTS ALLEGING INCIDENTS OF INAPPROPRIATE ACTIVATION OF: VSC IN (MY) 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA VEHICLES DURING VSC ACTIVATION THE DRIVER LOSES THROTTLE CONTROL ... • Buy American. They are safest. To that fuckhead that says don't buy American built-move your ass to Japan. They will like you there.

  • thats so true man i like that comment

  • the reason why they dont issue a recall is because it cost more for the company to recall than to just settle a case due to a problem. when they do finally decide to recall, it usually means that it will prob cost them more to settle any more cases in court. its part of what big companies do...

  • Comment removed

  • lol buy a volvo always safe

  • wow. thank goodness my uncle bought an 01 sequoia in 03 instead of buying an 04. his wife had just given birth to triplets. those poor livers would have been in danger.

  • =======

The details of the SEQUOIA recall

it's wasn't part of manufacturing BUT

    due to an IMPROPER FINISHING

by the Sequoia producing Toyota factory in the US.

This is WHY you don't buy vehicles assembled by Mexicans(mexico) and Americans(USA).

The blueprint is all same, but the execution(assembly) is done horribly.

  • please men dont said stupid things, the cars that are made here in mexico are the best in all, and please dont buy toyota, buy gm.

  • hell yeah thats correct, my sister has a car that was made in mexico and ive ridden in it before,

  • stick with another company like nissan!

  • thats good you werent harmed dude, do not ever buy a toyota again, they are some of the worse shit on the road. you can look at some of the things on my channel, and i didnt even get started with the recalls and all the comparisions with honda, it wont fit all on my profile. Toyota sucks ass, thats the final word. God bless you.

  • wow lotsa peoples hate toyota....thats why im buying GM =D

  • Thats what I keep tring to tell these idiots,Toyotas are unsafe!!!

  • lol people thought the explorer was bad with the tires going flat, what about toyota with the whole fucking wheel falling off?

  • wow that sucks, but im glad your ok

my friends dad rolled his '00 F150 because he went to fast into an off ramp, but he was lucky enough to slow it down enough so it didnt continue to roll it just stopped on its roof, the tow truck driver came and rolled the truck back on its wheels and he drove the truck home... cant do that with a toyota (obviously not yours haha)

  • HAHAHA look at my profile pic, it goes quite well with this vid

  • i dont like toyotas at all... i got an 08 Nissan Armada, wat r u driving now??

  • this issue was recalled several years ago....glad ur ok but i guess u didnt get the memo.

  • the problem is that the american auto manufacturers are deathly afraid of litigation. gm will make the front page for a recall such as bad brake lights and an asian company will be in small type at the bottom for wheels falling off or for a fire risk. just remember all of the profits from american car companies stay here. all the import profits go to their home country. the only one giving money to the usa is the employee. buy american and they will tell you defects.imports cover it up.

  • EXATICALY

  • toyota sucks

  • are you insured when this happend?

  • I was insured, but I took a huge hit on the depreciation of the Sequoia. Was 1.5 years old, with only about 20k miles, so Geico only paid about 60% of what I paid for the truck. According to Kelly Blue Book, Toyotas don't hold their value nearly as well as they used to.

  • the toyotas in asia are better manufacturers

  • should of had gap insurance, im glad your ok

  • the only good thing about that sequia is that is has michelin tires.

  • Yeah....I figured I'd have the truck for a while, so I bought the best. What a waste of $800, huh?

  • i love Toyota but only if the car was specifically made in Japan. and since no cars from toyota are built in japan any more..then whats the use?

  • the new corolla comes from japan but only the sedan version is or something like that. i dunno about american toyotas as i live in australia but in australia most of our range is made in japan

  • The American counterparts (GM, Ford, Chrysler) have closed the quality gap. They have quality processes in place to prevent non-conforming parts from being built on most vehicles. It happens from time to time like all manufactures. The American perception is that all the foreign vechiles are better, which in fact they are not. It all comes down to style, interiors and most importantly price. Toyota is trying to be number one, which is not always a good thing.

  • Toyota...moving the japanese economy forward!

  • @LiftedCO And sending the American economy backward! American cars are better!

  • good one ford

  • should've bought a Honda

  • agreed

  • werent Sequoias built by americans?

  • you know what anything built in america is bad. you don't hear any recalls like that issued on toyotas and honda and other imports when there built in there home country. i think some workers do this on purpose because there to overly patriotic.

  • Now that is certainly untrue. Toyota, Honda, Nissan and pretty much EVERY Asian or European has plenty of recalls. You just never hear about them on the news. I love the people who think the Japanese cars are perfection on wheels. They break with the same consistency as the domestic cars only difference is the cost significantly more to repair.

  • sequoias are from the toyota company. And japan is the toyota company!

  • Toyota no thanks i would never own one of there junks never toyota is junk

  • well, i hope you learned your lesson for buying a toyota.

  • well put

  • just another reason why toyota blows dick

  • Toyota is not what it used to be. They are now using Chinese built parts and cutting costs like the big 3 started doing in the 70s.

The Japanese engineered and built Celica I had in college was a great....stuff rarely broke on it. I managed to rack up 180K miles on the stock suspension.

  • tell me about it texan.. the older one were great /but the new ones look cheesy and are cheesy.. they going down on quality and the domestices are going up. big 3 all the way!

  • yeah i totally agree, my old corolla (1989)is still here this very day, although i had to buy a new one as the old one was having troubles with the alternator. i still love the old one better, the new one feels flimsy and the auxilary/ fog lights have already broken 2 times. i wish they made cars like they do in the good old days

  • Toyota! Woot

  • Of course,tOYOTA doesn't like to issue recalls. But they are the worst at admitting to problems with their vehicles. Why do you think you never hear about tOYOTA issuing recalls?I mean never.I guess they can afford to wait until people really start complaining, then just pay them off.How else could you explain why all websites dedicated to complaining about tOYOTAS have mysteriously vanished.Just another tactic tOYOTA uses to keep their "loyalists" brainwashed. GOOGLE: "tOYOTA engine sludge"

  • aculy toyota had a recall on the 04 tundras for the trd mufflers that could burn the breaking cables and the truck can't stop. that is when i had my old tundra sofar with my new one no problems!

  • Well, as far as toyota being mor "American" than ford, dodge or chevy. NO Fuckin way. NEVER. YOu can never label any asian or german auto maker as american just because they're assembled here. U.S. automakers are increasing the quality of OUR vehicles every year. And all these imports, especially toyota, are trying to take that glory from us. Fuck that.

  • exactly american auto makers were founded here and still are here toyota was founded in japan where the head office is hmm sounds like a jap company to me fuck toyota

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!! now maybe AMERICANS will buy american cars. FORD/GM are the best. i dont understand how you can call yourself an american and buy foreign cars?? true americans but true american cars.

  • GM makes Impala in Canada. Ford makes Fusion in Mexico. TOYOTA makes Camry in U.S.A. doesn't that make it more american than the other other ones?

  • That was exactly my rationale when I bought the Sequoia back in 2003 - I figured it was assembled in Indiana, so I wasn't hurting our country. Unfortunately, the corporate office in Japan made the decision that they were going to wait until people started getting killed to recall the trucks for a problem which was first reported over two years earlier. I don't blame the Japanese, but I DO blame Toyota.

  • That is VERY disappointing to find out about Toyora, I recently bought a Toyota. Seams like big companies have a tendancy to do this, GM had a similar thing back in the day with the Corvair and Chrysler have ongoing lawsuits with the gen3 seatbelts. It scares me as a consumer.

  • may be designed in the us but it was orginally and still is engineered in Japan

  • And GM makes their Camry competitor the Malibu right here in Fairfax Kansas. If you want a full-size SUV the Tahoe is built in the USA as well.

  • I completely agree, just because some Toyota's are made in America means nothing. They on average have far more foreign content then the big 3. Also Toyota doesn't allow unions in their manufacturing plants so they aren't really an American company; they don't care about their American workers.

  • yikes!! toyota recalled my sequoia as well a few weeks ago. same problem as yours. the dealer replaced the defective part. glad you're ok.

  • wow go honda or acura i love these cars thay stand behind all of there autos like the acura tl s 2002 and 3 had bad tranny prob. but thay will give you a free one for life to keep the talk away. and all 97 and newer car under 150000 have some warrenty left on theme.( my 97 cl cat converter went out @ 143000 & was replaced for free)

  • I just had this same thing occur with my toyota 4 runner. I was wondering what the mileage was on your car? This is a very serious defect in the Toyota design.

  • I watched your video, and I am very happy you're alive. We both survived accidents that should have never happened, and we need to try to save as many lives as possible. To answer your q, my mileage was about 25k when it happened. The Sequoia was about 2 years old. I'm really, really glad you're ok.

  • i understand toyota put you and thousands of people in danger, you and others have been lied too, but you dont have to put Are you still thinking about buying a toyota, its just, that made me upset. My father has been driving a toyota for 19 years. 10 years ago he was in an accident in his toyota truck when he went head on with a drunk driver at 65 mph,my father broke his leg but only walked away with that thanks to toyota do not be offened im not going against you i'm just making a point

  • Well, it's still happening!! They're having massive issues with camshaft failures on their new Tundras and they won't recall them either. Afterall, they don't want people to know that they RECALLED more vehicles than they MADE in 2006, do they? What kind of image would that send? GO BUY A FORD!!!!!!

  • Yes amen brother. Chevy/Ford Rulez

  • Wow I am surprised that Toyota gave you that much trouble. Customer service especially from what you are saying. Toyotas are really are good cars but the whole recall deal is dangerous for them not doing it sooner. Glad you are ok

  • i dont trust any foreign car company even if they put their plants here!

  • wow; i'll never get a sequoia, and i was about to hunt for a newer car. hondas here i come!

  • I've seen a wheel fall off a car, and it sure did NOT flip over like that. Wonder why people feel safer in these things....

  • This is why I don't buy SUVs. Ever

  • Toyota's kill.

  • Thank you for this information, Ive already got two friends to replace their Sequoia's. Im just glad I found out about this information, I plan on trading in my highlander fairly soon for something safer.

  • You're lucky to be alive dude; I think I'll stay away from Toyota.

  • DAMN im never buying a toyota, to think of it i almost got one of the new 07 tundras ill just wait to see my friends tip over in his!

  • Let's put it harsh. A compagny find out one of car has (big) problems, it has 2 choice, recalling, or not. What do they do to decide? They count. How much will it cost to recall the cars? How much will it cost to get sued by faulty car owner? Lowest number wins, quite often, it's less costly to be sued. Sad Simple Economic.

  • I couldn't have said it better myself. Unfortunately for Toyota customers, recall-avoidance has become the norm for the company. Honda recently issued a recall because their Accord owner's manuals had an incorrect phone number - Toyota can't recall to save lives?

  • They had a recall on that particular part, and if you didnt replace it that was the problem, or maybe you did and the dealer put it on wrong.

I still have faith in my sequoia not the dealer after they stripped out all my lugnuts.

  • Toyota waited 2 years after the first reported incident to issue a recall. You know when I got the first recall notice int he mail? 6 months AFTER the accident. Why do companies like Toyota avoid recalls? Because they cost them money and make them look bad. Well, guess what - the lives and safety of customers are worth more than a dollar value, and a company's reputation is hurt more by deaths and injuries than by recalls.

  • i hope u got alot of compensation for that mess

  • My insurance company gave me what the truck was worth when the rollover happened - which was a lot less than replacement value of the vehicle. When I called Toyota to tell them what happened, they sent me to their legal department who pretty much told me to go away. They couldn't care less.

  • Hey skooty305, what did you get as a replacement for this vehicle? A Tahoe or something?

  • I got a Porsche Cayenne S. The difference in the way the Germans manufacture cars compared to Toyota is unbelievable. Everything is over-built - and I know that if there IS a problem that shows up, Porsche will let me know about it BEFORE I'm almost killed.

  • My parents bought two toyotas in the mid 80's at the same time. They were so tinny and underpowered. Actually when my Mom used to close the door on her corolla the whole side of the car would flex and wobble. This scared the crap out of her and she sold it in 1990 and bought a brand new Buick regal coupe instead - much safer car.

  • The firestone tire diaster was, at least in my opinion, the worst manufacturing error/recall in automotive history. The word got about, and now Firestone lost their market share. Toyota can make a mistake, but if you find out that people are getting hurt and/or killed, for G-d sakes, recall your product and pay the dealerships to fix the cars.

  • hey products fail sometimes on all suvs and trucks. they make better parts to avoid recalls. i have the same problem to my sequoia when the wheel was vibrating. might as well buy an aftermarket product. i buy airide tec and fabtec products.

i agree to latinslav because toyota service people r asshole, and the usa trucks and suvs have recall problems.

  • Can you reccomend an after-market front lower ball joint for us? It's something we've all wanted to upgrade on our brand new cars, I'm sure. I had the vibration problem too - truck shook like crazy when braking. The dealer fixed that problem, but never replaced the ball-join because there was no recall for it at the time. To think of the injuries and lives that could have been saved.

  • not only you post the video, but all the comments too?

i know ur pissed off! hehe

  • Damn right I'm pissed. Do ya blame me?

  • I had an 03 as well we were not effected. I really don't know how that could happen. they would let a car out on the road like that. How fast were you going? Were on I-95 was this looks familiar. It looks like the car stood up well to the actual crash and thank god you were waring your seatbelt.

  • My truck had 16,000 miles on it at the time of the accident. I was doing 55, in the middle lane, on a Sunday afternoon with a moderate amount of traffic. I got out alive, which made me think the truck saved my life - until I saw the truck in the junkyard, and realized the A pillars had mostly collapsed from just one impact/roll. I've seen videos on YouTube of SUVs flipping 4 or even 5 times before coming to a stop. Had mine flipped just once more, I'm pretty sure I would have been crushed.

  • The lower-ball joint gave out at I-95 South in Broward County, Florida, between the Pembroke Rd. & Hallandale Bch Blvd. exits.

  • yup I though it looked familiar. I live in Aventura

  • How many miles were on it at the time of the crash? I'm glad to hear that you're alright. Toyota does make quality cars, however they are the worst company to deal with when it comes to recalls. Toyota's service people are assholes when it comes to fixing things that break under warranty. There's so much arguing with them. Ford and Chevy service folks, on the other hand, have to suck your d*** since they're on sh*t list with the public.

  • Good question - there were 16,000 miles on the truck at the time of the crash. I should have mentioned that in the video. You're completely right about Toyota's recall problems. The Japanese goverment just started an investigation into Toyota's repeated reluctancy to issue recalls, even when customer saftey is at stake. Google it to find out more.

  • I also just found this interesting statistic about Toyota's quality control problems: "In the United States, Toyota's largest market, the number of vehicles recalled soared to 2.2 million last year. That was double the number of vehicles recalled in 2004, and more than 10 times the 200,000 cars it recalled in 2003, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration." ....and to think, my Sequoia was an '03 - back when they were still making "decent" automobiles!

  • Toyota has made some good cars back in the day i.e. AE86s, Supras, Celicas, but once they moved their trucks and Vans here they seriously went down the hole. I own a 1999 Toyota Sienna and the tranny went on me twice, once the entire tranny blew and the second time the shifter assembly came apart. seriously bad crap. good thing you're alive man. god bless and take care.

  • Thank you for your kind words. Trust me, after driving down the highway at 55MPH one second, and my 215 lb body upside down crushing my head the next, I feel like very, very lucky to be alive. The scariest part of it though, is when you look at the pictures from the junk yard. The A-pillars collapsed, not totally, but enough to seriously injure someone's head or face.

  • (continued) If the truck would have flipped more than once (which happens often in rollovers), the A-pillars would have surely collapsed 100%, and G-d only knows what would have happened to my head. What if my wife or daugther was in the passenger seat? Makes me sick to my stomach every time I think about it.

  • Toyota makes shitty cars. Here in Southern California, most of the people are the same people that buy imports- Asian El Americos.

  • at the least they make reliable vechicles. hondas are safe. try them

  • I plan on buying a 2002 Sequoia. I love Toyota. Okay, all car companies make mistakes. Including Ford. Vehicle Fires? My Friend was killed driving his 2001 F-150, that bursted into flames on 1-75 in Atlanta. Now you tell me, Are you lucky? Or is he?

  • We're both unlucky - your friend's luck was much worse. The execs at Ford have already begun to pay for their recall avoidance decisions - Ford's stock is in the sewer and they risk Chapter 11 or some type of takeover and a guaranteed management "realignment". Ford's "instant karma" is from automotive consumers hearing about quality issues and choosing a different manufacturer when it's time for a new car. (continued)

  • (continued from last post) If Toyota wants to put innocent lives at stake to avoid issuing a recall that would cost them about $250 per vehicle, you don't think we should make a statement to them as well?

  • Thats why you have to check the serial number on the inside panel. Make sure it starts with J, it means its made in Japan as opposed to made in Maerica where the qulaity may be as bad as a Ford.

  • wher is the serial code? is it the 1 inside the bottom drivers side of windshield?

  • Most automakers issue recalls within 90 days of an injury - Toyota waited over 3 years, two seperate times. The Volvo SUVs use a boron-composite to reinforce their A-pillars, VW and Porsche use Trip-steel. If you look at the pictures, you'll see that the Toyota's half-colapsed after just one flip. Do your research. :)

  • Thanks for posting this. We have a 2001 Sequoia and were out four-wheeling in the snowy Sierras today. I had no idea about the recall, but I went to the NHTSA website and obtained the info. I'm going to get those lower ball joints replaced. Thanks again! You just may have saved a life.
