No freckles2720, the bible is NOT chauvinistic, man is. God see ALL of us the same, as HIS children (Romans 2: 11). Whatever your profession is, you went to school and mastered it, right? Well, it's no different from the Holy Word of GOD. I notice how you search for the negatives in The Word, but, there are many, many positive things that you have over looked in The Word which is LOVE. You will submit to your employer in this wicked world, but, have problems understanding submission in The Bible

Submitting to your husband according to biblical standards DO NOT mean being a slave to the man, only that you are following his lead, especially if he is submitting to CHRIST. You follow whatever order your boss give to you at work, but, are ready to rebel with a person (your husband) that you marry.

God said that He was above man and man was above women. Therefore until man hear God's own voice in authority of what he does then he is given free reign to voice authority over women. Women - no fear because most men will not hear the voice of God until he sees Him face to face upon death. In genesis, I thought man and woman were created as equals and to be each other's companions. But after disobeying god, and eating from the tree of knowledge a punishment was women being subject to men. If you look at the punishments given to adam and eve some are true to this day.

The Bible talks about the woman being the lesser vessel but doesnt mean the woman is the weaker of the two. Physiologically speaking men on average are stronger than women. However women often have an inner strength that surpasses that of men. The reference of the lesser vessel applies more to order. Man was ordained the spiritual leader of his family and placed in charge. Therefore by divine order woman was place in the lesser rank under the mans care and protection.

First of all the man has to submit himself to God, then is says the women should submit herself to her HUSBAND, not just any man of the street, and finally it say that they the man and woman who are married should submit themselves to each others. This submission is one of respect and love to each other.

God chose the rib but I'm sure he could have chosen another part, but the rib comes from the man's side, where a woman should be if they are partners. God wanted the same DNA, since man was made first they only way this could happen was by using his DNA. If another location in the earth were chosen then woman may have come out different and would require more work to achieve perfection.

The wife is to submit to her husband and the husband is to be submitted to the Lord...There is a leadership structure ordained by GOD to keep order, unity, peace, and longetivity in the marriage.

This is not an issue of whether the wife "has a mind"... The MAN is to be the loving leader/head of the family with God as his leader/head... This does NOT mean that we oppress you,, it's about you accepting the Man's responsibility for his household.

Actually, the Bible is Authored by GOD not by men.. God simply used men to "pen" the Bible.

At your place of work, are you a LESSER person than your boss, or does your boss simply have agreater level of responsibility and authority?... Doesn't you boss also have a boss?.. Yet all are equally important and equally necessary, eventhough your roles, functions, and levels of accountability differs.

I kind of agree with leigh. When I first read it years ago my first instinct was that it was telling women to be weak, but now I understand it to be saying that women should submit to husbands (not all men) in a certain way to keep balance in a marriage. They are so different that boundaries have to be set to ensure respect. Just as a woman shouldn't try to wear the "pants", a man knows if his wife is not happy, he can't go home and if there's one plate of food, she eats first, lol!

I think you raise an interesting topic. It's hard for me to take the bible literal because it talks about being good slaves and gays are bad, that seems very opinated and human-like. After all humans wrote the book and translated it so I feel like there's room for argument.

The bible has been reinterpreted over the ages...how do we know for sure it is 100% the inspired word of God? I cannot answer that for you; but you will have to trust your heart and do your research. Historians are split on accuracy and interpretation issues...I think you are about to embark on a deep journey and the answer you find will influence many of your key relationships. An ex-partner, ex-husband, friends I thought were friends(thus ex-friends, ex-associates) Many people are willing to call relationships to a halt over this: I just heard Monique(bless her) on her tv show last night say: women we need to submit to these men(I was blown away) This "submission" is the key element in many religions. It is so not like that. I am no less than my husband. We are equal. He treats me no less than I treat him. Actually he treats me better than most unsaved men treat their wives. He honors and respects me based on scripture. Like I said before, that was the way things were when the bible was written. You have to look at things from the heart not literal. A lot of the problems with the people who quote bible verses and have not read the entire bible don't realize the strength of biblical women like Zipphorah (Moses wife and a "sister") Esther, and the prophet Deborah (yes there was actually a respected female prophet in the

Also, in some translations, WOman, is because we have a womb. He loved us so much that he trusted women with the resposibility of carrying children inside us. I'm not bible scholar by any means, but when I was going the preacher taught us that woman was man's helpmate not necessarily inferior. However the whole "submit" thing is out of line from what current times have preached to us about female roles. The bible does teach that men and women have different roles to play in relationships and families.

Some articles that I have read have attributed divorce rates, single parents, people living beyond their means because we no longer are following biblical "rules".
