Rome total war is so inaccurate with the spartans. The spartans didnt use spears 19 to 20 feet long. those were the macedonians and there old empires. The spartans spears were much shorter and faught very different from the rest of the other factions just to let you know.

its more fun to do it with just just 2 spartan units and give your enemy 2 or 3 allies. your enemies will then use that shallow spot in the river and go around and completly surround you.

Third of all Spartans and Greeks are not completely the same, if you're Spartan you're Greek, however if you're Greek you're not automatically Spartan

So the guy in the video put the Spartans as the Spartan Hoplites, and the other Greeks as the regular Hoplites

My best tactic when heavily outnumbered is to do the Roman method, send your weakest guys (I always buy cheap mercs) and then when the enemy is occupied, bombard everyone with Artillary or just rush your infantry in to clean up the mess after a good calvary flanking.

In ancient battles, armies wouldn't rush into each other like mindless buffaloes, more rather the would throw projectiles at each other while slowly moving foward, until they came within reach for the sword. The would fight a short while and then retreat. And they would go on like that until the other army lose backbone are or were completely decimated.
