"The album doesn't attempt to update the band's sound with hip-hop moves or electronic frippery, for which God should bless 'em, indeed. The girls' hold on the current pop world remains so strong that Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong co-writes a song ("Unforgiven") in impeccable Go-Go's drag". - Allmusic
The band always had, and still has, an incredibly tight sound. I last saw the Go-Go's live when they were promoting this album, and the music is heartbeat real, not a digital creation.
If ever one group has made me proud to have enjoyed and be part of the 80s, this is it:) Ill never get tired of listening to these girls ever!!!...............
I love this song but the concept for the video is weak and what they should have done is had Billy Joe Armstrong in the video, that would have pulled the Green Day fans over to watch this video and buy the music. It would have helped if nothing else.
The Loudness War claims another victim. :( Is there any chance of 'God Bless' being re-released, this time with some dynamic range left alive? Whoever mastered the album just murdered it; Gina's drums sound like q-tips on cardboard, and the vocals and instruments all smear together into a featureless sea of noise. I've got the CD, but have listened to it only 2 or 3 times. The music is great, but the sound coming out of my speakers is almost painful. :(
@ryleebuchanan Personally, I think Vacation is their weakest album, with God Bless The Go-Go's probably my favorite, behind BATB that is. But it's interesting to hear people's differing opinions.
@ryleebuchanan I STRONGLY disagree. After all the drama they came back together and the magic was still there and it shows in"God Bless". Once a Go-Go always a Go-Go!!
GO-GO'S should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...no questions asked...c'mon idiot voters...they did more for 1/2 the population (women) in 4 albums then most male groups do in 40 years; they opened up the doors for 50% of the population. THINK ABOUT IT! Pre Go-Go's= women playing instruments; a novelty Post Go-Go's= women are EXPECTED to write their own music, play their own instruments and are a force to be reckoned with... think about it...
@hobartzoo...I agree. I'm a chick...love music, sing and write. What they did...was opened doors for so much more and that's why music has evolved so much. Linda Perry AWESOME, there are so many! At least the people that really enjoy the good Sh** know it when they hear it. Peace...
Love the song, love the video. It was great to see these women together again and tearin' it up on-screen! Makes me wish they had gotten their acts together earlier, made real peace sooner, and made more music together.
GO-GOS ROCK !
one of the best bands ever!

I think some of their best songs were the ones Gina Schock helped write, like "You Thought," "It's Everything but Partytime," and "I'm With You."

@GoGosUnsealed I agree with you. Vacation was their weakest album. My favorites are God Bless, and Talk Show.

@GoGosUnsealed Your opinion isn't a rare one. Seems like Vacation is commonly thought to be their poorest effort. Drugs suck.

Love this song! I wish they'd included the harmony vocal line that Billy Joe sang when they played it live. It makes the song.
