Another great video, informative AND entertaining. It's also possible to get that knight's Tower Shield. Not sure on the specifics on how, but you need 30 strength (sigh) and it has 80 defense.
I tried to kill the dude at the bonfire near Firelink Shrine at the beginning of the game. He chased me, so I ran away and continued with the game. Hours later, I've reached the point at the end of this video. And that dude still wants me dead. GUY NEEDS TO CHILL.
@mattthebeatle You can still backstab them normally, but their "back" position changes during the attack. It's more difficult, but if you can find the sweet spot, you can stab them right out of their moves.
Those undead with capes are tricky, the ones with large shields and swords are just tough and damaging but the ones with bucklers and rapiers will sometimes raise their swords and point at you. If you attack while they're doing that they'll counter you, and that hurts.
can anyone help. i played this part but there was no mini tower knight guy... i wanna try kill him but he aint there. is it possible that someone invaded me and kill him or is it just a bug???
@DeadCaseyJones did u summon another player to help you, because that player possibly killed him. I summoned two phantoms to help me in the Undead burg and they killed the black knight there
@playstationextremist no at that time i just started and dont even know that people can be summoned. i was exploring, got to the church and only saw the normal knights, no tower guy. i just remembered that some time after that(not even sure it was the same day), i wanted to kill the gargoyles but before i transverse the light, some guy came outta nowhere and killed me, its a player if im not wrong. just dont know if an invader can disrupt my gameplay...
You can backstab that miniboss lol most humanoid type dudes you can not sure about the actually boss's i havnt tried you should also try to parry more often :o not sure if u do it in your later vid's

Damn a fucking guy tricked me. He posted that there was an illusionary wall near the entrance to the church and you can image how surprised I was when that big ass knight came out to kill me when i hit the wall.
To beat the black knight I just stuck to him and moved around his left, since when he swings the mace he starts from the right so if you circle him with your shield up you can defeat him safely.
@MizticZz It was a drop off of one of the first hollows you fight before the undead burg... he uses the axe, and can drop it. I can't remember for sure, but I believe you can buy it from Andrei too... maybe. Can't remember right now.
the easiest way to grind in the beginning is to run from the shortcut ladder up to the dragon and make it breathe fire on the undead dudes standing there
Pikemen are easy. Go 2hand-Style and run towards then, quick attack until you got a minimum of endurance left, then go back to avoid their counterattacks(S). Regenerate green bar, and repeat. They will block your attacks, but they will fall and it's not risky.
hey man just thought id tell you but umm yeah this game is alot more easier when you are a pyromancer or any magic user just like the royalty class in demon souls i owned the game at least 5 or 6 times i cant remember but yeah that is a really good class for begginners as it is level 1 so you can pretty much mould it into any character you want

There is no such thing as underleveled. Ya know in demon souls u could grin your way to win or go stright OR be like a boss and beat the game at lvl 1 i bet u can do dat on dark souls
hey epicnamebro idk if youve done this or know yet but if you kill the merchant in undead city (Burg) he drops a decent starting katana that bonuses from DEX
Those Elite Undead Knights (ones w/ red capes) are actually just like what's his face in 4-1, that Last Samurai Tom Cruise wannabe douchebag w/ the Uchigatana, in that they seem ultra intimidating, but their weakness is actually your aggressiveness. Look at this vid, you're using a fking handaxe in a tight corridor and still managed to own them. I used a Bandit's Knife and just trashed those guys; 2 BS's and a hit at 15 Dex and they're down. Never got a chance to counter me.
A small note about the beginning priest dude which asked Epic for 1500 for a *almost useless* tip.
The price asked is actually related to the level of the player. For exemple, a Character level 1 (pyromancer) will have this tip for 200 souls at the beginning.
I have trouble using the kick and jump attack reliably, also you want to watch for those knights cause pone grappled me turned me around and backstabbed me...it was not cool.
id have to say for those knight guys with the cape, once you learn their movements, just two hand er weapon and wait for them to finish off an attack sequence and then attack them.
i thought i was good at dark souls since i easily raped mobs in demons.
i picked a thief and after about 5 hours in i'm restarting as a pyromancer,this shits too hard,gotta run through the equivalent of 3 demons souls stages just to get to a bonfire with only 5 flasks,going to FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU mode

The cloak nights for any new players.. pikes and spears work very well on them if you block it will give them the stun affect and you can put about 4 attacks on him before he can recover
Just a note to add, If you do try to rush the magic user in the church, he can buff all the slaves with a spell which puts you up against a soul arrow caster with a big spear and at least 10 super slaves... bad match up.
Nice shout out to the Vagrant Story. Awesome RPG, strange to grasp the mechanics of at first but once you did it was a lot of fun and very immersive, Much like this game :)

dude I love Vagrant Story, I'm really hoping they would remake the game too, it was an awesome game, scratch that, it still is an awesome game and I still have it even, I haven't really found another game like it sadly, but I have high hopes they'll recreate the game.
The Knight reminds me of a larger version of the phantom type knights from Demon's Souls only much larger with a tower shield. So I figured he was going to heal sooner or later. lol
man i remember i was knight in demon's souls and that class really helped me out..plus love the look of that one. so i;ll be knight once again in dark souls awhahahha maybe dark knight...
@foxhoundnomah The Estoc was better than the Fatal Secret Dagger? Ha, I didn't know! The Estoc + 1 in Dark Souls has a D from strength and a C from dex... I wonder if it can be changed via upgrade? But that's a good idea nonetheless. I'm only soul level 15. I'm trying to decide whether I want to try out some more miracles, do the str thing, or w/e. My first build is likely to be all over the place!

@third00 forward R2 is now a jump attack, forward R1 is kick, and you can jump by pressing X while dashing. Diving attack is also new.. press x while falling from a high place
9:40, after you beat that Scutum Knight(my name for them, based on the shield they carry), that path off to the right and into the bushes I believe leads to another blacksmith. Through the other exit of his workshop you can find a whole new area to explore.
@jaychou85 I believe Knight does. My class is Soldier, but you can easily learn Heal with any class at the very beginning of the game. The requirements are 10 attunement, 12 faith, and a some souls to buy the spell.
Facing the Fallen Crescent Warrior look-alike, turn left. Go down the spiral staircase and look for a maiden trapped in a cell. You can upgrade your Estus Flasks here if you have the "fire keeper's soul." Go down another spiral staircase and you will find an elevator leading to the Little Rondo Ruins. There's a blacksmith located here that supposedly forges magic weapons for you (trapped in a cell down a broken staircase.) Be warned: don't venture Little Rondo Ruins past the blacksmith.
Most blacksmiths have a specific 'transcend' that they can apply. I think the one near the Undead Chapel does 'lightning'. Are you saying the blacksmith near the underground lake does 'magic', or maybe 'enchanted'(I'm not sure of the difference, but there is a trophy for each upgrade path)? He's a good guy for aspiring Sorcerers, or anyone interested in soul arts, as he sells a Cane Catalyst, Soul Arrow, and another stronger version of that spell-give yourself 12 Attunement for both
Yes, multiple blacksmiths. You can also find a Repair Toolkit that allows you to effect your own repairs. It might only work at Firelink Shrine, but there are multiple areas that link back to it. You see one of them in this video. It also potentially explains the 'link' part of the name.

Tip...9 times out of 10 you cannot get a backstab while an enemy is in an attacking animation

to take care of the shield spear knights, use a kick attack followed up by regular attacks. it works for almost ever weapon.

dude I love Vagrant Story, I'm really hoping they would remake the game too, it was an awesome game, scratch that, it still is an awesome game and I still have it even, I haven't really found another game like it sadly, but I have high hopes they'll recreate the game.

I know the game is difficult but it would have been nice to see the magician resurrect or heal some of his minions. Maybe later in the game.

The Knight reminds me of a larger version of the phantom type knights from Demon's Souls only much larger with a tower shield. So I figured he was going to heal sooner or later. lol

@EpicNameBro Estoc was the best weapon for backstabs in DS,but you had to raise your dexterity , so you want maybe to try that out.

@foxhoundnomah The Estoc was better than the Fatal Secret Dagger? Ha, I didn't know! The Estoc + 1 in Dark Souls has a D from strength and a C from dex... I wonder if it can be changed via upgrade? But that's a good idea nonetheless. I'm only soul level 15. I'm trying to decide whether I want to try out some more miracles, do the str thing, or w/e. My first build is likely to be all over the place!

@third00 forward R2 is now a jump attack, forward R1 is kick, and you can jump by pressing X while dashing. Diving attack is also new.. press x while falling from a high place

9:40, after you beat that Scutum Knight(my name for them, based on the shield they carry), that path off to the right and into the bushes I believe leads to another blacksmith. Through the other exit of his workshop you can find a whole new area to explore.

@jaychou85 I believe Knight does. My class is Soldier, but you can easily learn Heal with any class at the very beginning of the game. The requirements are 10 attunement, 12 faith, and a some souls to buy the spell.

Facing the Fallen Crescent Warrior look-alike, turn left. Go down the spiral staircase and look for a maiden trapped in a cell. You can upgrade your Estus Flasks here if you have the "fire keeper's soul." Go down another spiral staircase and you will find an elevator leading to the Little Rondo Ruins. There's a blacksmith located here that supposedly forges magic weapons for you (trapped in a cell down a broken staircase.) Be warned: don't venture Little Rondo Ruins past the blacksmith.

Most blacksmiths have a specific 'transcend' that they can apply. I think the one near the Undead Chapel does 'lightning'. Are you saying the blacksmith near the underground lake does 'magic', or maybe 'enchanted'(I'm not sure of the difference, but there is a trophy for each upgrade path)? He's a good guy for aspiring Sorcerers, or anyone interested in soul arts, as he sells a Cane Catalyst, Soul Arrow, and another stronger version of that spell-give yourself 12 Attunement for both

Yes, multiple blacksmiths. You can also find a Repair Toolkit that allows you to effect your own repairs. It might only work at Firelink Shrine, but there are multiple areas that link back to it. You see one of them in this video. It also potentially explains the 'link' part of the name.
