Did you notice on the clapboard that Frank Biondo's name is on the clapboard? If you don't know who he is, he is one of the cameramen that worked on Sesame Street since the first season, I think. And also, Forgetful Jones is going through the vowels.
Don't miss Forgetful Jones in his first big film musical starring role in "Oklahoma!" And Aklahoma, Eklahoma...and even....Iiiiiiiiklahoma! See it in cinemas and also in mind blowing IMAX 3D! A Kermit The Frog film.
Why does the video poster say this is "overrated"? Ask any Sesame Street fan, and this is a top 5 skit of all-time. Everyone remembers this. Classic Kermit, classic Forgetful Jones, classic song, great ironic teaching moment. Even the woman saying "take 2, take 3, etc." is hilarious.
This is one of my favorite Sesame Street moments. Forgetful Jones sang so wildly funny. The best part is when he sang "IIIIIIII-KLAHOMA", Kermit yells back at him. Very, very hilarious!
LMFAO: "wait a minute! wait a minute! stop stop stop! you sang the wrong thing! it's not IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIk-la-hom-a....this time you sang 'IIIIIIIIk-la-hom-a instead of Oklahoma!!!!"
Useless factoid: The Muppet lady with the clapper's name is Agnes, probably in reference to Agnes DeMille, who choreographed "Oklahoma!" during its original Broadway run.
Me and my sister was going through memory lane and I looked this up and we cracked up just as hard as we did when we were kids watching this. Ahh...memories
I couldn't stop laughing when Kermit lost his temper at 2:43! So funny! Forgetful Jones maybe obviously forgetful but he's SO funny! I wish he'd appear on the show more often! :)
Forgetful Jones is still on Sesame Street but, he's not a major character anymore because, as soon as his performer (played by Richard Hunt) passed away, Forgetful Jones stopped appearing in skits where he talked, so now, he's in skits where he doesn't talk.
Yesterday, I went to a panel honoring the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street in Wayne, NJ. Although hearing the cast speak was something special, my favorite part of the night was when they played this sketch in honor of Richard Hunt, who puppeteered Forgetful Jones. Seeing nearly 1,000 people- old and young- at the antics of Forgetful Jones and Jim Henson's Kermit (and laughing along with them) was a great testament to the intergenerational appeal of Sesame Street and the Muppets.
I was at that, too. When they played this, after "A"-klahoma and "E"-klahoma, you knew "I"-klahoma was coming, and for some reason, it's still laugh-out-loud funny. I don't know how they did it.
By the way, wasn't that awesome when Oscar poped out of that tote bag?
I loooooove this video, as a child it cracked me up! where-ever did forgetful Jones and Kermit get to? sesame street just doesn't have the magic and charm it used to before. sigh...
For some strange reason, my brother and I used to crack up when he said "IIIIIIIIIIII-klahoma", and ONLY when he said "IIIIIIIIIIII-klahoma", as if the letter "I" was hilarious. I love this! Thanks for posting it :D
LOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!! I remember watching this as a child and being pissed off at forgetful Jones, then he has the audacity to get smart and say "I don't see why not.." when Kermit asks him if he can sing it right this time. smh
This was one of my favorite Sesame Street sketches when I was little. Especially when Kermit nearly lost it after the 3rd take. I'm still laughing too!
I still find this skit terribly hilarious... I must've been like 4 when I first saw this... Sitting in my PJs early in the morning and covering my laughs with a pillow so I didn't wake anyone else up.
Don't let the horns fool ya! There are some breeds of cattle that have females with horns.
As a child I went with my country cousins to get the milk cow from the pasture and actually had to climb a tree to get away from the milk-cow that had horns!!! Those horns looked pretty scary for a non-country girl!
I'm working on an "Oklahoma" production right now! What a coincidence! I love the "iklahoma" part. It's like Forgetful Jones is giving the viewers the vowels of the alphabet. I learned the vowels when I was in first grade, and I never saw this on TV!
OMG I nearly fell out of my chair when Kermit went ballistic and screamed IIIIklahoma!!! at Forgetful Jones! That was frigging hilarious! And I havent seen this in so long. yes! When i saw Oklahoma in school this is what came to mind first, lol!
I noticed when Forgetful Jones sings "AAAAAAAH-klahoma!" his voice sounds a little different, almost like a Jim Henson voice. Pretty weird, since his normal speaking voice sounds like a Western Scooter or Don Music
Can anyone uplaod the clip in which Forgetful recites the alphabet? I believe Michael Earl Davis voiced him that time?
