Your leon might be fast for a 1.8 but its not quick enough to keep up a M3 :) You can pull away from him in the begin but once the M3 gets on speed your nowhere near him.

If the difference would put the pedal to the metal even if he (maybe) would lose the difference between the M3 and the Leon would never be so clear, so the only explication is that the M3 is only at 50-70% of its capacity.

A k04 turbo, remap and supporting mods (which in addition to the car, still cost a fraction of the price of an M3) would see it fly past. Before you start wanking over an M3, do a bit of research into something non-BMW related, and you'll discover that despite the brilliant, high revving M-Power engines, there are FASTER CARS IN THE WORLD. Today, one of those cars was a Seat Leon. LOL.
@BNS206 Afraid you are wrong , as an owner of an M3 and having raced against the Leon and similar cars the driver of the BMW is not utilising the max. rev range which in a souped up 3.2 l 6 cylinder engine would wipe the floor with a number of cars the Leon included . The Leon has a smaller engine and its revs are higher thus it has to change gear quicker - this results in running out of power too soon whereas the M3 has the reserve power from 6000 to 8000 rpm . Ive left many a Leon....
@dafydd67 Power delivery is where it's at. The Leon makes bags of torque low down and therefore doesn't need epic revs to perform. I'm a massive fan of the BMW straight 6 engines, they sound absolutely incredible when worked hard, but the Leon (or preferably the lighter Ibiza) can be made to go faster for less. Don't get me wrong, stock for stock the bimmer is the superior car, but for the money, the Leon has more potential if a badge isn't the selling point of a car for you.

I have Seat Leon which is tuned to 300 HP and i killed M3 many times in my life ( Seat Leon 1.8 20vt 297HP 390Nm 4X4) so Leon which have 327 HP do it with any problems :) Some Leons which had about 400 HP kill 911 or Gallardo which had about 3.6 s. 0 - 100 km/h :D good lack with your M3 :D

Bear in mind that so much power in a front wheel drive is okay in a straight line but bloody useless on bends . Its like the VXR8 great in a straight line but shite on a track , thats why I bought the M3 fantastic all rounder albeit heavy on the juice and easy to boost up the bhp .

With all that experience and data in terms of racing, yet still be overtaken by at worst, a Chevy. Even in F1, they played there too but failed miserably. After F1 they said they would concentrate on their Le mans GT2/GT3 program and still, they get their ass whipped at the 24Hr. race and the ALMS. Now that BMW is out in F1, it should be easier.

But going back to the M3 and BMW's reputation of making sporty sedans. They have been in the business much longer than SEAT or Chevy. Which is why I am ranting on why such a marquee allows itself to be overtaken by a Spanish car company (yes VW owns it but they are still independent). Or worse, Chevy!!!

@4624you I don't always believe the 'facts' in a particular video like this. Maybe this Leon has more than 330hp or the M3 has a serious issue, who know's? I'm not the one to judge that but as far as stage tuning goes, with a turbo driven engine like a 1.8 20VT you really can get al long way with power and torque but keep in mind that the first 20% increase in power can be established with 'çheap' software only but if you really want to push the envelope, that's gonna cost you big time!

I have had both these cars (E46 M3 and Seat Leon Cupra R with Revo tec about 270 bhp). And this video is probably about right. All things considered the 1.8t is a very torquey engine, which is displaced acrossnealry the entire the rev range. Not to mention the Seat is front wheel drive, which would be putting more of those horses down that the heavier drive train of the M3. Of course some of you are right, with a standing start the M3 would be off with better traction

everybody knows that the bimmer is faster than a seat but the seat from this video if not a stock it's modified so I'm not surprised it won .Also that m3 could be an older model let's say 2004.Everybody knows a stock m3 would beat a stock sear cupra r so I don't know why are some m3 fans so upset by this clip .

@DjDeineMutter Der BMw hat 343 PS und der leon 327PS also hat der BMW sogar mehr PS, und die Aero vom BMW ist alles nur nicht schlecht, Leon und BMW werden sich nix tun und beim beschleunigen ist der Aero sowas von egal, da zählt nur die Übersetzung und das Leistungsgewicht, und das leistungsgewicht ist beim leon nunmal besser daher zieht er den BMW auch ab und nicht wegen Aero.

I have Seat Leon which is tuned to 300 HP and i killed M3 many times in my life ( Seat Leon 1.8 20vt 297HP 390Nm 4X4) so Leon which have 327 HP do it with any problems :) Some Leons which had about 400 HP kill 911 or Gallardo which had about 3.6 s. 0 - 100 km/h :D good lack with your M3 :D

You gotta love BMW drivers. They just can't accept being beaten. The Cupra was modded to 327hp. It's hardly surprising that it edged ahead. The Beamer would have been closer, but once passed, he gave up and didn't try to catch up. Nice video. Excellent Leon.

Bear in mind that so much power in a front wheel drive is okay in a straight line but bloody useless on bends . Its like the VXR8 great in a straight line but shite on a track , thats why I bought the M3 fantastic all rounder albeit heavy on the juice and easy to boost up the bhp .

I too am surprised on how pathetic a works BMW team performs vs. relative newbies like SEAT and Chevy at the WTCC. Its a pretty hard sell for a comany that charges a premium on sporty cars that are seen to be lapped in F1 and the WTCC as of late don't you think?

If you check your records you will discover that over the last 35 years BMW M division have won a significant amount of races , as for F1 I don't see SEAT there !!! Be realistic at least . The SEAT is German part of the VW group , BMW is German and I know which one I would rather own oh and its not the SEAT . I hold a racing licence and have raced and the M3 is quality you'd know if you own one !!!

@dafydd67 Last 35 years you say? Well all the more reason why I am perplexed as to why BMW struggles to beat "newcomers" like SEAT and Chevy. With all that experience and data in terms of racing, yet still be overtaken by at worst, a Chevy. Even in F1, they played there too but failed miserably. After F1 they said they would concentrate on their Le mans GT2/GT3 program and still, they get their ass whipped at the 24Hr. race and the ALMS. Now that BMW is out in F1, it should be easier.

Look in F1 you have the RedBull with a Renault engine but with reliability problems , you have Ferrari & Merc engines , BMW decided that it wasn't their game due to the fact that they wouldn't pour in the same amount of cash as the others same as Toyota . I own a road car a BMW M3 which will whip the arse off any poxy Seat . I've had the bhp boosted up to 455 at very little cost , the handling is superb & have you driven an M3 ?

@dafydd67 Yes I've driven an M3. Not mine but a friend's. My daily car is a 2008 C350. It may not be the fastest in its class but its the most comfortable. But going back to the M3 and BMW's reputation of making sporty sedans. They have been in the business much longer than SEAT or Chevy. Which is why I am ranting on why such a marquee allows itself to be overtaken by a Spanish car company (yes VW owns it but they are still independent). Or worse, Chevy!!!

Im not worried at the end of the day I went for the M3 due to its superior handling & acceleration . The chevy or any other yank car I wouldn't touch as frankly they are rubbish and BMW will bounce back as they did in the early 90s' . The M3 is a beast of a car .

@4624you I don't always believe the 'facts' in a particular video like this. Maybe this Leon has more than 330hp or the M3 has a serious issue, who know's? I'm not the one to judge that but as far as stage tuning goes, with a turbo driven engine like a 1.8 20VT you really can get al long way with power and torque but keep in mind that the first 20% increase in power can be established with 'çheap' software only but if you really want to push the envelope, that's gonna cost you big time!

I have had both these cars (E46 M3 and Seat Leon Cupra R with Revo tec about 270 bhp). And this video is probably about right. All things considered the 1.8t is a very torquey engine, which is displaced acrossnealry the entire the rev range. Not to mention the Seat is front wheel drive, which would be putting more of those horses down that the heavier drive train of the M3. Of course some of you are right, with a standing start the M3 would be off with better traction
