  • i hate it

  • My bad type in western regional ooireachtas parade of champions 2010

  • Well Irish dance has changed since that! There dresses are way shorter we tan our legs more sparrkles and the guys are amazing well at regionals they are if you want to see what it looks like now type in western regional oireachtas parade of champions

  • that was touching

  • at the begging of her dance, she is so high on her toes, that it almost looks painful

  • why would guys do this!

  • That is definitely the editing. The music would not have been out of time at the actual event. I wouldn't call her a drama queen at all.

The amount of work, hours, blood, sweat and tears we all put into dancing before a competition is imense. Then to fall on the day, is such a horrible feeling, coupled with the adrenalin etc etc

Like all dedicated and passionate dancers, she'll put it down to experience, leave it in the past and move onto the next competition.

  • i think its strang that they start dancing at a different beat of the music to me

  •  WoooooooW - Just great   I love it 

  • aww man that's such a shame she fell over! :( it looked really sore but it was nice to watch her before they showd the feis because she is a beautiful dancer!! xxx :)

  • remember when dat lady says dnt rake a leg and then meghan sprained her ankle that lady jinked her

  • wow i admire her dedication :)

  • Wow, the girls are amazing, I bet they will go far :)

  • "Blind turn"? They were facing each other LONG before they ran into each other. Looks like she is either a HUGE drama queen, or they had her do it to make the documentary more exciting.

  • @reeltreble1994 lol yea i just noticed they were both facing eachother and it was no :blind' turn lmao

  • megan would be around 23 now? i wonder if she still dances.

  • @missynaomi135 Why are you going around telling multiple people that they are not good enough for worlds? That is just rude. If they qualify they are good enough. I bet you have never been...

  • Comment removed

  • @missynaomi135 That is great that you have qualified. What is not great is that you put down people that have qualified multiple times. I bet your dancing is worse than theirs. So stop putting people down.

19, and i know its better to be younger but i never had a chance, but now my university is offering recreational irish dance classes so im gonna give it a shot.

  • Megan is amazing, a dancing idol.

  • :) this is one of my fav vids on youtube :D

  • omg thats so cool (:

the blond teacher (or judge) at 7:46 is someone i see ALL the time at the feis's i go to XD but im not sure who she is...local teacher im guessing.

  • So cool! I want to learn how to do irish dancing!

  • i love irish dancing :) being from ireland is a help LOL but i go to this little class where we just do it for fun, we dont go to the feis and its just way more relaxed :) i love my heavy shoes :)

  • Sooo not a blind turn, she boxed him in and danced right into him.

  • and that crash was deffinitly NOT a blind turn. Both dancers had clear sight of eachother. They should have done a change in direction, the judges problably marked both of them down for it

  • how old is this video? the costumes are VERY outdated!!! looks like it was filmed about 8 years ago..

  • no... irish dancing costumes are very, very... common. and i used to belong to hids (healy) and i quit about 3 years ago and the costumes are still the same.

  • Then what level are you dancing in? Prizewinner? Try attending au Commisiun world chmpionships and see if you could pick out ONE dancer wearing a dress that looks like that. The champs order from top designers, Siopa Rince, Gavin Doherty, and Elevation. And they do NOT sell dresses that outdated!

  • i am saying that those are the team dresses.

and im in open championship as well and i can tell if the girl is good or not and she really is btw...

  • Would you get propper man legs becase of using them so much? great dance btw

  • we weould never be allowed toake that much noise @ 2:33

  • yea i knoe theyre like, pounding on the floor. My teachers would noooooooooott b happy!

  • I went to a world dance event last year, and Irish dancing was apart of it, it was so cool!!!! LOVE IT!!!! I want to learn!

  • well good video. love irish dancing XD. best thing about it is when you are on the stage just about to dance and you get butterflies and that XD. i've danced since i was 4 and then stopped for like 5 years or summat but i really wished i didnt stop. ahh well, im going back now :D. felt so sorry for that girl to went over. looked painful.

  • omg i would love to start learning this i have been training in tap and ballet for about 2 and half years now.i have just become interested in irish im 15 am i to old to start?

  • You are never too old to dance. I have people in my class who are grandmothers! and teenagers as well.

  • No, you aren't too old to start!

Jean Butler, the AMAZING original female lead of Riverdance, started Irish dance when she was 23!

  • actually, Jean started dancing in Riverdance at 23. She started dance when she was four.

  • In the workshop documentary of Jean's Irish Dance Masterclass, though, a little girl asked her when she started dance, and she said 23. (Or I may have gone deaf when I watched it and she asked "Riverdance".)

I'm pretty sure Jean started dance when she was 23.

  • She def started before she was 23 as I used to see her dancing in competitions when she was younger.Plus it takes years of practice to get as good as she was in Riverdance.

  • its defineatley neva too late to start. Just be aware that too catch up to people ur age you will probably have to work alot harder since most people ur age are in open championship level. But if you have a pair of gorgeous legs and natural talent, then it can take u as little as 3 or 4 years to reach champion level. maybe even less since u do ballet! that realllllly helps. i think i may start doing gymnastics to improve my irish dancing.

  • I love this clip!! The dancers are absolutely amazing!

  • No, Irish Dancing is not the same like tap dancing. There are many differences between both styles. The tips of the heavy shoes are made of fibreglass and the tap shoes have metal plates. I know that because I´m an irish dancer from germany.

  • @Kriesbach1986 where do you learn that? Im living in germany as well and just cant find a school :/

  • is this the same as tap dancing? sorry, I dont really know :) I just happened to see a video in Britains Got Talent and got inspirated by it to start some Irish dancing. These girls are amazing btw!! ^_^

  • NO. Tap dancing is a very different thing, many people would argue that tap dancing actually has its roots from Irish dancing, along with some other influences along the way. Irish Step dance has actually two basic styles, depending on the type of shoes you wear. There's soft shoes and hard shoes (or heavy shoes as they're sometimes called). Soft shoes are the quiet ones and the hard shoes make the noise.

  • OH MY GOD RACHEL IS SO LITTLE. i used to be at healy.

  • 822 should be smiling she won 4 godness sake!

  • des anybody else not wear shorts or skirts when they are practicing?

  • Nope... If your practising.. you dont have to wear that, unless your told to :L

  • Nice video, but horribly not straiten knees at the beginning

  • Came to Brasil to teach!!! To Rio de janeiro!!! We don't have a school of irish tap dance here and i'm really want to learn!

  • shes really good... but that is one of the scariest things ive ever seen!

  • omg ow!!!!!

i did that exact same thing!

i was doing a blind turn in one of my steps and i landed on my foot and just collapsed! =[

  • I Actually Lve Irish Dancing , Im Not Quite In championship yet but im in , intermediate and trying soo hard.

I Just Loves the dance i have no idea why , its everything about it , x I feel so sorry for that girk but as she says it hapens i remember doing my primary slip jig and trying so hard i kicked up and threw back woods , as she says these things happen.

  • I always always cringe when girls run into each other.

  • I know, it looks SO painful.

  • lol this video! such awsome dancers! one of my all time fav dance clips ever! finally on youtube thnx for sharing! xxx

  • great video

  • What a great insight into our world!
