  • Good point Terry, people give up too easy, when I had a rough week I just worked harder the next week and usually had good results.

  • Wes, people do give up to easy. We are programed to expect instant, easy results by media advertisers and then get frustrated when we learn the real truth.

  • kumquat diet. lol

    congrats on 5 lbs

currently on the altoid diet see if you eat enough altoids can't eat anything else

exercise walk & clean min 4hours per day

    maintaining 75 pound weight loss

  • You know, if someone put out and ad saying you could lose 10 pounds in 10 minutes with the kumquat ad....someone would buy it. They might not do the plan, but they would buy it. The altoid diet is making my stomach hurt! My plan is a lot like yours except I make a mess at least 4 hours a day.

  • I felt like you were talking right to me. LOL I'm making it my goal to get through one full MONTH on plan and write everything down and PLAN my meals! <3 I've notice that i NEVER have more than two, 3 TOPS weeks right in a row of losses. It's because I don't stick with it long enough. I am going to work on that. I want 4 losses in a row. Every wed in Sept will be a loss of some kind. If im telling you- i must be serious! (or stupid. LOL)

    ((Hugs))

  • Keri, you are right on the edge of success. It's just like a little bird ready to make that first flight. The bird will be able to fly, it's just not 100% sure until it jumps out into the air. Step across whatever is keeping you from being successful and make that jump. You know how to to this. Just close your eyes, jump off and do it. Stay strong.

  • No slacking here. We can slack when we are dead. You have a plan that is working. It's just a matter of staying consistent. With time you are going to have your success.

  • great work on the money raised and the weight lost!

  • Hey buddy. I am really excited about this fundraiser and the 5 pound drop is really cool. Thanks for commenting.

  • when your right, your right. great work on the loss.

  • Thanks for the nice comment.

  • You're darn right you lost 5 pounds... and you best keep on losing 'em, because the summer's over as of Monday, and I've managed to get through an entire summer without gaining so much as a pound for the first time... ever! Those footsteps you hear behind you are only getting louder, Terry. That might be because I'm still obese, but I prefer to think of it as closing in on you!

    (Congrats)

  • This really has been the summer of Rob. I am so glad to hear that with everything going on you have managed to stay in control. Sure is a lot nicer than having to talk about the 50 pounds you gained this summer. I am on a real roll now Rob so you better kick into high gear. You will not get lighter than me!

  • You're right about finding a plan and sticking to it no matter what, and it looks like your plan is working out pretty well for ya :-) Congrats on the 5 lb weightloss!! Now, go buy yourself some new shorts that fit lol. Great job, Terry

  • I do have to find some stuff that fits. At my age wearing the shorts really low is not cool, not to mention dangerous.

  • Select, commit, and execute - definitely words to live by with diet and exercise but life decisions as well. Fantastic job on the 5 lbs, Terry! It is reassuring to know that when I hit play on your videos there will always be a positive message and a kick in the butt!!! Thank you for all you do!

  • Thanks Deb. The 5 pounds was a real surprise. As you know I would have been happy with anything. (Well, not a gain). This has motivated me to just keep going even when the result is not what I think it should be on a particular Friday morning.

  • 5 pounds. Sweet.

You know I have stuck to my plan and made it my lifestyle.

Absolutely right, got to execute. Not only your body, but also your mind!

    Great vid!

  • Although I was hoping for a pound and would have been quite happy with that, the 5 pounds was a real bonus.

We need you and others to continue to show by example that you need a plan that works for you today and will work for you tomorrow. It is a lifestyle change. Stay strong.

  • Great video. It is so true. We all try to do things perfectly. I have noticed that with the one that I have now, I have not regained all the weight I have lost. That is the way to go.

  • Some people will spend their entire life searching for the perfect plan. We can still be successful even if we are not using the "perfect plan". If we wait for the perfect plan, we may run out of time. You are doing great. Stay strong.

  • Hooray on the loss!!! Yay! Agree entirely with your message- of course, instant is the word that sells- look at any diet book or magazine and almost always you will see a deadline for weightloss like "by Labor Day" or simply "Lose weight fast!!!" Starting is always easiest- planning without doing is what we love to do! Thanks for the great vid xx Nikki

  • Thanks for the nice comment. People out there know how to sell us stuff. They know just the right words to say and pictures to show us. They prey on that little bit of hope we have that this is the answer, this is the plan, this is the time. As we know we end up with almost a 100% failure rate.

  • Congrats on your loss! I love this video, it's exactly where my brain is at, and it's so true. It's about DOING it, and it's about focus.. It's not the plan that makes us achieve it, it's our determination and sticking to what we started out doing! :) Great message as always Terry! Thanks for the mention.

  • I am glad that you got what I was trying to say in the video. I am enjoying your addicted2carbs series.

  • We live in a world that expects instant results, instant success. Many people are very unhappy because reality does not match that expectation. Stick with a plan until you know without a doubt that it simply will not work for you. If you prove that then I have no problem changing, but it takes more than an afternoon to make that determination.

  • Thanks terry i really needed to hear that. Stick to my plan. Stick to my plan. Thats all it is. That's my new mantra. Big congrats on your loss your doin great! Take care.

  • i totally agree with you..its chosing the plan, sticking with it, and slow allowing it to become a permanent part of our life like taking a shower and brushing our teeth.

great video, Terry! you are so right on!

  • Thanks for the supportive comments. The other key is that everyone can have a different plan. I don't have to use yours, you don't have to use mine but the commitment to the plan has to be constant. There is no such thing as "One plan fits all"

  • Woo thats a big loss, great job :D

  • Thanks Nicole. I was really happy with the 5 lbs.

  • you are awesome! as soon as I can i'm sending some your way!!! *hugglez the terry*

  • Thanks for the sweet comment. I hope things are going well for you.

  • Sticking to a plan.... that's my only problem. One single plan every week. Why do I make it so hard???? Great video Terry. Congrats on the success :D

    Cheers,

    Mari

  • Excuse you, where are your videos LADY!?

  • Mari, I have to agree that sometimes we make it so hard....and how in the world do our bodies figure out what to do when we start a new plan every week. Talk about being confused. I know you have a commitment to weigh loss. Finding the way to channel that to commitment to a long term plan is the key.

  • Wow, a 5 pound loss is impressive, I have never lost 5 pounds in a week. Way to go.

Thanks so much for mentioning my victory video.

I do Paleo with Calorie Restriction, the plan that I started with 2 years ago, of course I didn't know it was called Paleo at the time. I love it and know I can stick with it forever.

Guilty because you feel good. Fun knee.

    marjie

  • I was really surprised with that 5 pounds but it proved that what I am doing is working. The other important key you have found is that now as you get to where you want to be you don't have to worry about what to do after all you goals are met. That is what I like about Paleo. I don't have to come up with a new plan once I reach my goal. I just keep going.

  • It sure make life easy to have an easy plan in place. I may have struggled a bit in the beginning trying to get used to my plan but it is so much a part of me now that I would struggle not doing it.

I will always have a goal, my goal is to stay on plan.

    Great video,

    Thanks.

    marjie

  • Any plan has to be long term and judged upon long term results... I know the frustration of one or two or four weeks weight loss delay. You start self-doubt about what you did (did you live up to your plan) or which plan you picked. I say any plan change needs to be done for 30 days to be evaluated whether it works for you. You wouldn't quit a relationship with a person over a non-gratifying week.

Why quit on your body after a lousy week?

Terry, you hit it on the nose again with this video.

  • Thanks Kent. I am glad to see you agree with me on this issue. I just see this as a big stumbling block for so many people. They are spending so much time finding the perfect plan that they never really get started on any plan.

  • You've inspired me to start a plan :P

  • Jay, I really believe you can stick to a plan but it has to become the most important thing in the world to you, at least for a short time, to get yourself started and experience some success. I would love to see you commit to one week. One week that regardless of what happens at work, at home, with your health or anywhere else, there is one priority, your plan. You can be successful at this but I don't think you believe that yet. Stay strong.
