I had never seen a plasma ball lit by a microwave oven before. Amazing how the plasma bolts get affected by microwaves.

the globe is not dead the electronics in it are they will be fried!!! what a manky microwave maybe clean the face sometime so we can see into it better

Its not the heat, its the 'elctromagnetic' radiation from the magnetron in the microwave. It must be causing the charge seperation that normally occurs when the ball is plugged in but this is far faster and more chaotic.

Don't quote me on that, please. I'm not certain, that was just an educated guess.

lol, microwaves don't use heat, unlike ovens. They apply microwave radiation to the food, and the water molecules inside the food get excited, and boil. The water in the food heats it, not the actual microwave.

Microwaves is not heat energy. It increases thermal energy from which the microwaves are hitting. Actually I put in a plate, on accident that had a silver decoration and tons of static sparks came from it. I also do not recommend tin foil or burger wrap from McDonalds as you get nasty results
