My parents are black. On my mother's side we have blackfeet in earlier generations, I haven't seen my father since I was four, so I know nothing of his side, and apparently I have white ancestors somewhere, and like most black Americans I don't know what black nation(s) I come from. I know very little about my heritage.
@SaiKoSeSu my brother you know your heritage you are American, I personally have so many different nationalities in me including 3 different Native American tribes (Commanche, Blackfeet and Cherokee) it would be silly of me to think of myself as anything but American nor would I want to. ok, so i've been wanting to connect to my ancestry for forever now and i've recently just started to lookup my na side. on my father's side, i'm blackfoot and crowe mix and my father is also a blood brother to a souix who was a truck driver and for some reason i feel more connected with the blackfoot. i'd love to be able to look up my fathers' side of the family but the state of indiana has his records sealed. does anyone know of a way to get his records unsealed?
I'm very proud of my Blackfoot heritage. I'm what you would call a "half-breed" but it doesnt stop me from representing both of my cultures.Hopefully one day others will see what great things we have done for our country and recognize it more.

Half breed means when one of your parents is another race and the other parent is not the same race. For instanct, your mother being white, and father being black. Thats a half breed person. It usually refers to a biracial person mixed with two races. Im glad My ancestors are indian though

I didn't know I was part indian until I met my mom when I was 25. I have always loved to hunt, hike, fish, the outdoors, and the drums always bring tears to my eyes, and then when she told me that I was a small part blackfoot, I understood. I am not purebred blackfoot, but a small part, and I am happy of that, but would never say it to anyone because I'd feel like a wanna be. But I know inside.

I taught for a year in Heart Butte, MT on The Blackfoot Reservation. I absolutely HATED it there. The locals were totally disrespectful and rather racist towards the white man. Never again will I waist my time there.

I didn't know I was part indian until I met my mom when I was 25. I have always loved to hunt, hike, fish, the outdoors, and the drums always bring tears to my eyes, and then when she told me that I was a small part blackfoot, I understood. I am not purebred blackfoot, but a small part, and I am happy of that, but would never say it to anyone because I'd feel like a wanna be. But I know inside.

As an Albertan living in Blackfoot country (near Siksika) I agree.
there's still lots of misunderstanding and racism.... on both sides actually... but moreso on the white side.
It's a very astounding culture and it should be preserved.
I'm not scared though. Their culture will never die. I'm not scared for them, they're a strong people.

I taught for a year in Heart Butte, MT on The Blackfoot Reservation. I absolutely HATED it there. The locals were totally disrespectful and rather racist towards the white man. Never again will I waist my time there.
