Can someone please answer this I have a 2000 jeep grand cherokee laredo with a 4.0 I have been doing some research and can't figure out if I can put a stroker kit and a cam in this newer engine and a turbo, is there kits for this ? 505performance only has them for wranglers would this kit work ?
what turbo set up did you use?? that thing doesnt even sound like a I6. either way it sounds badass, but im still curious to see the set up you have, maybe pop the hood and show whats up under there, lets see the turbo, wastegate, etc. Like i said that thing is pretty badass, but give us some more info on it .
The KA nissan engine is the American version. It's DOHC but is NA and cannot be compared to the japanese version. It would be a dam shame if a supercharged jeep with 6 cl could not beat a KA 240sx.
A turbo 4.0 is the best thing ive seen in a while. I have and xj, and a bunch of piping, and all the turbo stuff off my mustang cobra. I cant wait to start fabricating a setup, and try out a 4.0 turbo setup on the streets. I just gotta get a samller turbo, My T70 is way to big for the 4.0, unless I stroke it to a 4.5-4.7, hmmmmm, lol
Better stroke it out, you'll burn the valves up. Trust me. lol it's an expensive mistake. Even with this turbo, I would stroke it a bit more out, less compression than it has now. Maybe go 8:1 instead of 9.2:1 like these 4.0s usually have.
First, this Jeep would tear up anything in it's class. Second, you kids need to stop bitching about ricers and Jeeps. They are totally different classes. That's like saying my GSXR1 is 10x faster than your Hondas. It is, but who cares, it's a different class. It's not the car, its the driver. And Jeep drivers are some of the coolest dudes out there. The 3 wheel blew me away. I knew the I6s made good torque, but the power adder really woke that thing up. Great turbo sound, as well. Don't go bending that chassis now haha.

he is locked in the rear my jeep does the samething without a turbo cut a bit left get on the gas can roll if i want to its a neat trick :D he didnt buy a kit though all the kits for theJeeps the check engine light is off so his is a farmer build you want a jeep turbo look up 505 performance :D
i was just bullshitting when i said a stock I6 could smoke a ricer. i know it cant,for racing, but reliability yes, haha ive had my TJ for almost 8 years now, over 130k on the odometer and nothing but an oil change is needed. If you call that out of date, i guess you just like to spend money on an engine that needs constant work and worry. plus i can keep my tj climbing up a mountain hill in 4th gear all day down past 2k RPM's. Gotta love the low end torque of a Inline 6.
Wasn't questioning reliability, i know they're very reliable. I too own a TJ with the I6! Just not as efficient and powerful as a 6 of its size should be these days.
We had an 04 Rubicon (4:10 gears) with 5 speed manual. It would surprisingly beat 4 cylinders to 30 or 40 or so. Above 40 it starts to slow down and at 50 ... forget it. Brick wall.
I dont know if it was just ours, but seems the best place to shift is between 3500 and 4000.
Parents traded that in on a JK rubicon that can't get out of its own way half the time.
yeah mines got 4.10s in it right now, first gear was like an old granny low, but seconed gear had the torque like you wouldtn believe. upto about 45 it does pretty snappy timing

your correct 242CI isnt THAT big of an engine, but on the trail its got more low end torque than my 5.0 in my explorer. And, if you sunk a I6 in a lil honda hatch or somthing, it'd smoke any lil DOHC V-TECH engine anyday, ALOT more torque.

Well ive personally seen a 91 240SX with a KA24DE lose to a Jeep TJ with a AMC straight 6. And that Dual Cam 240sx was quick too. If you gear any tranny just right, you can make any engine reach its full potential, and surpass expectations of anyone. Ive seen that same Jeep take on alot of rice burners and and smoke them from start to finish. Oh ya did i mention it has a Ken Belle twin screw supercharger? Only pushing like 4 psi, but still, the Inline 6's can be veryy quick

I dont know if it was just ours, but seems the best place to shift is between 3500 and 4000.
Parents traded that in on a JK rubicon that can't get out of its own way half the time.

yeah mines got 4.10s in it right now, first gear was like an old granny low, but seconed gear had the torque like you wouldtn believe. upto about 45 it does pretty snappy timing

your correct 242CI isnt THAT big of an engine, but on the trail its got more low end torque than my 5.0 in my explorer. And, if you sunk a I6 in a lil honda hatch or somthing, it'd smoke any lil DOHC V-TECH engine anyday, ALOT more torque.

@TheJeepWheeler im sorry i like jeeps and used to own one but im mostly of what you might call a "Ricer fan" but not by any means am i a honda lover.. and of course they have more tourqe but thats why hondas are so fast when modded propperly its becasue they weigh nothing and dont need the tq thus a tourqeless high hp motor in a fwd car that dosent weight much proves more benificial.... the jeeps i6 prolly weighs as much as a whole civic does. its all about ratios.. jeeps i6 in a honda=tirespin

@TheJeepWheeler ehh im not sure about that....my friend with a type s (rsx with k20) races his brothers jeep that has intake exhaust headers and bigger throttle body and injectors and his rsx just has a intake and beats him... so im not sure 100 percent on that statement but the jeeps motor is a great off road motor and thats what its well...... ment to do lol awsome low end power no top end at all tho.... not exactly a le mans motor but still a great one for the cars its put into

Well ive personally seen a 91 240SX with a KA24DE lose to a Jeep TJ with a AMC straight 6. And that Dual Cam 240sx was quick too. If you gear any tranny just right, you can make any engine reach its full potential, and surpass expectations of anyone. Ive seen that same Jeep take on alot of rice burners and and smoke them from start to finish. Oh ya did i mention it has a Ken Belle twin screw supercharger? Only pushing like 4 psi, but still, the Inline 6's can be veryy quick

@TheJeepWheeler I wanta get and old 240sx, or something that is RWD, put a 4.0 and turbo in it, maybe even a tein turbo setup, and def a megasquirt to tune. Just imagine a turbo 4.0 in a small RWD car, it be a drift machine.
