A friend introduced this most beautiful song to me. I listened to it many times and each time made me more emotional. It seems she has so much pain in her voice. I wish I would understand the lyrics. Her songs comes directly form the heart so free and deep. As HeIsSailing mentioned “I do not understand a word that she is singing, yet the power and emotion of her voice transcends language barriers. The pain that she conveys ... has literally brought me to tears.” Thanks so much for sharing!
What a voice! Munadjat Yulchieva is one of my favorite singers on the planet. I do not understand a word that she is singing, yet the power and emotion of her voice transcends language barriers. The pain that she conveys in her rendition of Kelmady has literally brought me to tears.
Is there any chance Munadjat Yulchieva and Shavkat Mirzaev can perform in my home of El Paso Texas anytime soon?? ;-)
sensa increible!!! Incredible!!! I Think One of the best World singers and the music is magic (Sorry for my poor English I'm A peruvian SpanishSpoken xD)
She is not tajik or dari. She is O'zbek. She sings only in uzbek. and why should she sing in tajik or dari?. there is no written shoshmaqom in tajik or dari languages. all are in turkic. it is turkic nation song style.
@afghanforlife There probably are some Shashmaqom songs in Dari/Tajik that she sang though I'm not aware of one. Many maqom singers in Central Asia sing maqoms in both Uzbek and Tajik. It is sad to see many Uzbeks and Tajiks fight on youtube insulting each other and arguing whose culture is older and whose land this is. In reality it is our common land, common culture. They should learn from our ancestors that lived before the Russian invasion. Ethnicity was not important to them.
I like it, can you have more.

Beautiful performance! Thanks for posting. Would love to read a translation of the text she's singing.
Btw, does she sing in Tajiki/Dari at all?

I know she is Uzbek, I wasn't questioning that. I was asking if she sings in Dari/Tajiki at all.
It is not a matter of "Should" but of "Can" and "Does" she sing in Dari/Tajiki.
