Personally, Smash Bros would never make it well to the DS in my opinion. It's a bit of a console game, since you get to hear the epic sounds and sights of Smash Bros on big televisions, filling your mind with the experience.

As much as I love DS and Smash Bros, they wouldn't work out. Leave an excellent series to the work of 3D Nintendo consoles.

Maybe not on a handheld system, but a 4th smash bros on the next gen console would be awesome. Super Smash Bros. Royale, we're waiting for you!

I believe pretty much any game can make any gaming system, despite the limitations... A good game developer uses their imagination to it's fullest. :)

That is true.

However, I'm sure we all remember how LoZ: Phantom Hourglass and Chibi-robo: Park Patrol turned out. Good games for the DS, but not anywhere as great as their original Gamecube prequels.

Instead of turning SSB4 into one of those games, I'd want to turn it into something more like the jumps from Pikmin to Pikmin 2 or Metroid Prime 2 to Metroid Prime 3.

So yeah. I'm okay with experimenting, but leave Smash on the surefire EPIC route.
