40-50k a year means you're doing pretty good in my book. If I made that I could have a house and car with money to spare. For me that's all I need. I also think its harder for new truckers all the companies are looking for the veteran drivers.

The thing about being a trucker is you're on the road ALL THE TIME. Not a problem if you're single and don't mind the constant driving, but for someone with a family its stressful to say the least.
