  • 61 people need to be shot...

  • For the whole year of 1966 this was Number 6 spot out of 100 songs in Vietnam. It was the Club hit to Go Go.

  • Yes, music back then was awesome. But there are still some pretty brilliant artists out there today. Its not all shit.... :D

  • Does anyone know what a Shondell is?

  • THOSE WERE THE DAYS WHEN THE MUSIC WAS MUSIC, NOT NOISE...

  • My parents thought this music was garbage. I was just a kid in the early 60's and thought that the best music ever. Wasn't. I thought the same about soul music and post-Beatles psychadaelia. It wasn't. I loved the easy sounds of the 70's and even loved the early MTV days of rock. Each generation and each era will be claimed as the best by somebody, for as Billy Preston wrote: Everybody loves some kind of music.

Personally, I have gone back to the big band era. That's music for me.

  • lol, I love how almost all pre 80's songs' highest comment is one about how much better music back then was, although true, still funny.

  • The original, can't beat it. I remember hearing this in the late 60's/early 70's. Brings me back to that more innocent time in our development as a world.

  • Bayside?

  • one of the best songs ever, my husband sings &plays this on guitar! Fabulous.

  • great memories

  • is this the original or the cover?

  • @turkishpride17 This Is the original. Joan Jett And The Blackhearts did the remake.

  • @turkishpride17 The original.

  • South Carolina,..very early teens... living on a private lake... and this girl ...BKM....watching her during the summers turn into a perfect "10" ...I kept singing this song to her and she kept trying to drown me! Puppy love was real to the puppies. 'I think I could show her...over and over...'

  • love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

  • I was born in 1996, I pray to god for someone to build a teleporter for me to go back to the 60's.

  • @kingmonkeyballs don't you mean a time machine? a teleporter will only transport you from one place to another in present time. a time machine would bring you back (or forward) in time.

  • @kingmonkeyballs You wouldn't have your modern day gadgets. No microwave, cell phone, textinjg, IPod, computer, email, Facebook, etc. Just a rotarry telephone, television (perhaps in color), phonographic records and a typewritter. But people did actually talk to each other.

  • great---!!! no words.....

  • I grew up in the 60's and ;must have led a sheltered life,b/c I never realized that some of my favorite song were actually "drug:" songs.!I also grew up in CA.Go figure!

  • Everytime I see a hot chick, this song comes up in me head.

  • great song

  • First heard on a large1930's valve radio pumped out at full vol., when the priest had his back turned. The Avengers caused equal waves on TV. Trippy days, but not all lazy hazy days of Summer.

  • Epic. The sixties and seventies, never to be repeated, never to be matched.

  • Epic. The sixties and seventies, never to be repearted, never to be matched.

  • Favourite song when I get high.

  • @Ziiib333 "see emily play" is better as well as "A day in the life" but this is very good.

  • I used to like Itchicoo Park. when I was buzzed...

  • @Ziiib333 your so damn true in your words, godbless you

  • First song I ever got high to in a room with a black light,ts,posters and other flashing lights listening in stereo. A treat for the senses

  • The radio is playing... Crimson and Clover.

  • This is what music should still be today!!!!! Nothing beats this kinda music:)

  • Crimson And Clover was the crazyist thing we ever heard back then still cool to me!

  • .9

  • @mrptchfrk I wanna live that time, you know? Living historical facts, cold war, go to a concert of Queen, Zeppelin, Elton John or maybe Woodstock. Leave my home listening musics like that everywhere. Living the hippie era, disco era, rock era, heavy metal era, punk era...Did you ever watched Dazed and Confused movie or Almost famous? I appreciate the modern times. The globalization, peace, computers, free musics, free book. Everything is easy today. But socially nowadays is a crap.

  • The first time I ever heard this song, was sitting on the curbstone in my neighborhood (1969). I was a young teenager, and one of my neighbors was driving his new car purchase home. I heard the deep throated exhaust, and looked up to see his new 1969 Plymouth GTX pulling up the street. A warm summer day with his his hardtop windows down , ....and Crimson & Clover blasting on his radio. What an era ...... Now we have Nissan Leafs, humming, ....and a deeply divided country.

  • Who could sing this in 2011?

  • @ALB437 ColdPlay

  • @ALB437 Have you heard Prince's cover? It's pretty decent.

  • @ALB437 I DO!!! This is great music!! I am not even from this era......i grew up on it thanks to my family who did...so yes people still DO sing this in 2011:)

  • Great song! I wasn't even born yet, but love this type of music! Mom and Pop's music rocks!

  • Outstanding song. Brings back some great memories.

  • moja mlodosc moj pierwszy wystep na estradzie i crimson and

  • There are clearly differences in the way this version is produced from the others I have heard. Anyone know anything about that?

  • 2:27 best part

  • people originally thought that the chorus was Christmas is over!! weird ha?

  • I was 10 living in Ghana...this takes me back as if it were only yesterday..

  • A tune that will live into infinity!

  • shes a strange woman her husbands out of town with a sack of shillings its fucked up

  • @Grunt6869 The TET offensive was a bitch wasn't it ?

  • @DammitDrag Yeah, I left before all hell broke loose. Got back to the states on 21 Jan. '68. Thank you for your service.

  • @coastie378 You got out just in time, Thanks for your service Brother.

  • @Grunt6869 I was there '67 - '68. My uncle was in country when I arrived with the 1st Cav ( Air mobile ). I was with CG Ron3 ( Market Time - Coastal Surveillance ). Also Gunfire Support with the 5" mount we had, when needed in support of some Army Ops ).

  • @coastie378 God Bless the !st Cav and all who served. US Army 79 to 96

  • @thohunt I was in the Coast Guard from '65 to '69 and almost reupped into the Army. Talked to the recruiter, but then thought better of that plan. I have a shipmate who is one of the 7 Coasties on the wall. There are a lot of songs around here that brings back that time and place for sure.

  • Great song...for ever...over and over.....

  • Still great

to listen to, over and over

  • Still great

  • just a great tune <3

  • Beautiful.

  • This show rocks!

  • One of the most TIMELESS songs ever written. Plus its great making love music.

  • The ending is EPIC

  • Lots of different remakes of this great song, the pretenders is by far the best

  • I really love this song for some reason. its almost haunting.

  • you cannot play this song too loud !

  • I found crimson and a four leaf clover.

  • I'd like to come back these times, even though I wasn't born yet...

    why?

    Everything sounds better.

  • @ViniciusFiocco id go spend a year in the 60s, spend one in the 70s, and spend the rest in the 80s!

  • @ViniciusFiocco ... I was born the year this song came out!!

  • @ViniciusFiocco right!

  • @ViniciusFiocco Why not stay here, where you can listen to all of that music plus the plethora of music the modern scene has to offer? Why limit yourself to a single era, instead of learning from all of them?

  • @ViniciusFiocco well, might as well cope with what you got now, because life will be just as exciting, just look past the mainstream, you can't go back to the past.

  • @ViniciusFiocco while I appreciate these times and the music produced (like this) I would rather live now, where I was exposed to music like this as well as music that is produced today. Best of both worlds.

  • @enabledaaron THANK YOU! People complain about all the crap music thats out now. Im like WHO CARES its not like the music of the past just disappears! I can enjoy the few good songs that come out now and all the great music of the past.

  • What is crimson & clover ??????

  • this version is better , i love this song :D

  • This song still pops up in commercials. A real classic

  • Classic psychedlic track from a vastly underrated band. Great post. The first time my wife heard this on the radio, when the shimmery vocals start at the end, she thought there was a fault with the CD the DJ was playing. I corrected her. Great post!

  • Never gets old.

  • nothing like the oldies.. they live on 4-ever!!!

  • joan jett's version is better but this is still good

  • @bitemebig100

Far as I'm concerned this is the only version.

  • @jmcinvale This is the best and only version in my book.

  • joan jett's version is way better but i still like this one

  • Veronica Mars!

  • There are 60 people who need to get laid.

  • I remember seeing tommy and the shondells doing this song in 1969 on tv on a saturday afternoon, he was wearing some cool looking pants that had spots like a leopard.

  • timeless classic's of the 60's yes i was born in the wrong era i tell you.

  • Comment removed

  • Nothing wrong with Joan Jett--at least she didn't have 12 dancers as a 'back-up'

  • Hey Shel in the mid-west-it's the talking guitar song

  • I was driving through OK, listening to Tommy James song Crimson & Clover on the radio station KOMA............wonderful memories!

  • when I was a kid I had their greatest hits on tape and this is still one of my favorite songs EVER!!! One of the greatest things my parents ever did for me was to introduce me to Tommy James and the Shondells.

  • awsome song!!!!! love this grneration

  • This era of Music was unbelievable, GREAT STUFF, but I picked it up, and love it. Thumbs- UP to this song.

  • "the mainstream is destroying the musical world as we know it"

not good- it used to be the other way around.

  • i would lose my virginity to this song.

  • guy on right looks like ringo starr

  • Grew up listening to and loving this stuff!

  • i want this to be the first dance as husband and wife at my wedding someday.

  • This has got to be my all time favourite song!

  • I'm a rock chick still listening to Suzi Quatro, The Runaways, The Stooges, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts... at the age of 23 and proud of it!

Possibly some of the most underrated of the glam rock groups of the Seventies. Not the way they do nowadays, but the way they did throughout the Seventies and Eighties.

Anyway, I have to say that Tommy James and the Shondells were one of the '60's top bands, captivating an entire generation of listeners with hits like "Crimson and Clover".

    Spain love u!

  • I love this song, but that stupid effect they use at the ends ruins it for me.

  • @123spiker123 listen to it while yur high and u'll love it

  • @123spiker123 Then surely you don't love the song. Tremolo on the breakdown vocals for 30 seconds hardly destroys the song, and matter of fact it is one of the things that made this song noteworthy and really stand out. The finishing breakdown, build-up, then fade is classic.

  • @21stCenturyDub ...I agree with the tremolo making this song stand out. We ran to the AM radio as little teens and turned it up just to hear the dreamy tremolo over and over. And I wasn't even'high'.

  • @21stCenturyDub ...I agree with the tremolo making this song stand out. We ran to the AM radio as little teens and turned it up just to hear the dreamy tremolo over and over. And I wasn't even'high'. I just loved the music of my generation when this kind of music was considered "trippy"... Lots more to come if you live long enough.

  • Lovely song, good group.

  • Man it's like getting FUCKED 100 times over and over this song has a bitchin groove to unload - all the pansy fucks that oink on this can kiss off!!

  • I read in his Bio that this "final": version was just a rough un finished cut that needed much more work and arrangements. It got pirated and put out to the public before he could put the finishing touches on this song. Wonder what it actually would of sounded like if he got a chance to finish it.

  • This is an old nice song.

  • Curti muito esse conjunto!..Dançavamos muito! Valeu!

  • Adoro esse conjunto. Bons tempos!

  • Quen viveu nesta epoca,ou ainda esta vivo, vai sentir muita saudades de musicas lindas como estas,eu vivi, ainda estou vivo pra curtir,e relembrar o passado lindo q esta musica me tra...

  • what is this hippy crap all about? hippies. sheesh..get a haircut and take a long bath with a few bottles of liquid soap.

  • im not a hater but im sorry, Joan Jett OWNS this song.

  • @GrIfFyDoG69, I am from Baltimore Joan Jetts hometown and only TJ and the Shondells do this song justice, and I absolutely love everything Joan has done.
