My dad has one and I love it. However, it took 35k to refurbish it (new engine and stuff) and it was even in that bad of a condition. I'll get it one day and I'm happy I won't have to deal with many of the problems this car has if its not in mint condition.
i have this exact Jaguar XJS Roadstr V12 i have had it for six years and have never had a problem with any electrical or starting and mine has 83000 on it i keep mine serviced regularly keep the oil changed every 3000 its been perfect for me
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
The ultimate place for a manual V12 XJS gearbox conversion. Over 100 units supplied, and other parts sold visit: Simplyperformance . com based in South UK. 07831 409 935 Thanks
I've had three Jags : a V12 XJR-S, a 4.2 SIII Sovereign, and an X300 3.2 XJ6 ....... never had trouble with ANY of them. Service them PROPERLY and REGULARLY and you won't have any issues.
Beautiful cars - real head turners especially the convertibles. The V12's have a beautiful refined low pitch burble and are super smooth.
Not problematic, the Jag V12 is one of the finest engines ever engineered. Just not for idiots that do not understand complex automobiles. Think Ferrari and others in this class the XJS is at home. If you want a simple "put gas in and never look under the hood sports coupe" stick with mass produced Japanese machines.
the word in england is these are a future classic, gonna be worth good money in the near future

my dads XJS had a situation with the Ariel that resulted in it cutting out !!
this is in my opinion the best car of a generation with the s-type , e-type and the XJ-220.
