right to end the argument once and for all. Both Scotland Ireland have there own pipes however the bagpipes are scottish, end of it. Irish immigrants then went over to America and started the whole row about how their children are irish, end the argument if your not born in ireland or have irish parents you cannot in anyway call yourself Irish.
I went to Eire once. It rained non-stop and was freezing cold. Everyone is drunk and no-one works. They dress only in green & they worship the Pope. They eat nothing but Irish stew and drink nothing but Guinness. They continually look to the past & believe in Leprachauns. Eire is the home of the paedophile priest who are exported all over the world. They speak English & play English sports & watch English television. I couldn't sleep at night due to the drunkards in the street. Avoid.
There is something so primal and haunting about bag pipes... I have gotten some really odd looks from people when I admit that I love the sound of them, but that is alright because I am not ashamed!
Ok listen if u guys are seriously going to bitch about this both the irish and the scots have been playing this instrument for centuries and I would know because my father was a firefighter in new york, he had buddies in the NYPD, FDNY, and New york city EMS before it changed over to the fire department to take that over so stop ur bitching and just enjoy the culture and the music u guys make sick and by the way I'm Irish so shut your mouth if u don't know what ur talking about
@222macgregor Yeah, you’re right, we should stop over a 100 years of tradition because there’s no possible way an Irishmen could be able to play a Scottish instrument. Maybe we should switch over to vuvuzelas. Oh wait, can an Irishmen play one of those?
@truefalse I never said it was an American tradition – I said using those customs in New York City was an American tradition. I brought this up when someone suggest the NYPD stop using the bagpipes and highland dress because those things were Scottish. So, you are right, those things are not American, but the employment of those things is.
@222macgregor A scotsman in the John F. Nicoll pipe band told my father "The Scottish are the Irish who could swim." Similar tradition and cultures, can't you enjoy your shared heritage?
@tachikoma747 Mate, if you think there's some deeply held bond or synergy between Ireland and Scotland then you're gravely mistaken. The most rabid supporters of Ireland in any given thing are Catholic [Irish] immigrants of Scotland; Scots have no more deeply held affection for Ireland than they do for Wales or England.
@CharlesDilkes sorry but you are wrong the scots have a big deep affection for the irish i myself an 100% scottish love everything about ireland the welsh are alright but the english can go to hell

When will you thick Americas begin to realise that Highland bagpipes and Highland kilts are Scottish, not Irish.

@yakchirscarlson
The point I'm making is that you are celebrating Scottish culture with the intent to present it as Irish. I, as a Scotsman, find this offensive.
222macgregor 9 months ago
@222macgregor This isn't about being Irish or Scottish - it's an American tradition, and that's all that matters.

@yakchirscarlson Highland dress and Bagpipes are not an American tradition.
