I'm not arguing for sub zero (I hate playing him as much as the next guy) but just because it's hard to get in on a character doesn't mean that Tom didn't play subzero well. Ice clone is how you play the character. Reptile doesn't have a teleport, so an obvious counter is sub zero

You should have used Liu Kang and spammed low fireballs. His low fireball crouches under the freeze everytime. That way he would have to jump into you to get a hit. Then you high fireball or combo into it. Liu Kang owns Sub everytime.

Sub Zero's combo does scale during combos a lot, it adds like 10% to his BnB.

You know how easy it is to turtle with subzero's ice clone? then back up and just use ice fireballs for jump ins?

Many players don't have much options for that "lame turtle style" unless you have an instant attack like scorpions flame or a teleport. Just look how a top reptile player had trouble getting in.

Who's really the scrub here? The lame player who can't put an offense with subzero or the reptile player trying? =p

I'd say the scrub is the one bitching and moaning about a solid playstyle and a good character rather than finding ways to get around it and not only 1) advancing the game but B) Giving the dick to a lame playstyle.

If everone uses sub and does the same thing then it becomes an issue to patch it. This was a very good reptile player and as you can see had a really hard time getting in. I'd like to see you do better, buuuut you probably won't show us anything better =p. There's probably no other character on the roster that can lame it out so easily.

clone, wait and use ice ball if they jump. I don't see many options other then a teleport or maybe scoprions fire or jax's ground pound.

@acidglow THTB got outplayed here and if you don't see that you should play more. There are ways around the clone, specifically dash blocking or waiting it out and pushing Sub to the corner. If sub just clones and throws ice balls you crouch under (while not blocking) the balls and walk forwards.

Reptile can also hit Sub out of clones/ice with his projectiles.

And finally, once Reptile gets in it's nasty so he should have to work for it.

Play more, discuss less.

@RockxLee It's really character-dependent. Since Reptile has good EX moves and a very good X-Ray, meter gets pretty regular use in just about every area with the character.

@Link1209 I find Sub-Zero match-ups way easier than Reptile ones. Reptile is freaking incredibly quick and can do a ton of damage.

Ice-clone and ball spam is nothing, it can't even hurt you, you have to make the mistake of walking/jumping into it. Sub has to actually work to force you to make mistakes and has to control space. Sub is actually the worst character for actual turtling and spamming. Subs that try that to me get out-turtled and owned every time, no matter what character I use.

@acidglow If my friend can find a way around it and stay competitive, so can everybody else. It's not that difficult to break it down if you're better than the guy using sub-zero. You also have it the wrong way round; you want to jump into an ice clone and ice ball on landing if you're playing against somebody who likes to try and jump in.
