I really wish I had done more research and especially watched this video before I bought my 1100T. Not that it's terrible for what I do but I'm having a bit of buyer's remorse. I hope when Ivy Bridge comes out the Sandy Bridge CPU's go down then I'll probably switch over to Intel unless Piledriver proves to be worth its salt.
unfortunately I'm stuck with AMDs. Need to change motherboard to change my CPU and to change motherboard means I need to re-install decades of programs and settings in my PC. Maybe manufacturers should start consider that compatibility issue too..
The 2500k is definitely a good processor but it's not all that and a bag of chips vs the 1100. If you are replacing your motherboard and going to play games at anything lower than 1080p.. then I might go for the 2500 but other than that? The 1100T is a steal and plays games JUST fine.
@TheMortalpain Explain what? I have not seen benchmarks specifically for the 550ti at 1080p for both processors in question but you are welcome to post them if you find them. But I'm pretty sure at 1080p and beyond the 2500 doesn't gain much ground due to GPU limitations. Again, post up some benches and hard data.
@SirtubalotTX Unfortunately i cant not get you any "hard data" but i run all my games maxed out with my I5 2500k and i can tell you that i am going beyond 1080p.
@TheMortalpain That's very interesting.. what game? The 550ti if roughly equivalent to a Radeon 5770. (Nothing to sneeze at) Toms Hardware got 42 fps in Crisis 2 at 1080p with no aa and 'game details' on a Core I5-2500K.
@TheMortalpain That's cool.. just curious. The main point I was making is why would folks want to spend a bunch of extra money on a CPU when they are going to be GPU limited anyways? I'm a 'bang for the buck' person and I personally thing the best gaming processor is the quad core Phenom 820 which can be had for 60 bucks at Microcenter. I'm still feeling my way around as far as what level of graphics cards and where they become CPU limited but I think everyone would be surprised.
@TheMessanger61 Really appreciated its just something I enjoy doing. I don't have a lot of money so I focus most of my time on maximizing what I have, and making videos like this to help others get right stuff.
@ComputerTechTV Yep! I totally agree, the video was unbiased and very informative. @Mariete96m 2500K ATM and a 1100T is better if you really need to extra real cores. If your running AMD already and can fit 1100T go with that. If your building a new rig get a 2500K its better in almost every situation.
@Axcoh No I am not a fan boy ran Intels for long time and now building a AMD bulldozer rig check my recent videos. The info in this video is legit at least according to souse online which is where most of the info came from.
@TheSwampShinobi No you can sue supplied paste however some aftermarket ones are slightly better. If you don't plan to overclock I wouldn't worry. If you are serious about overclocking I would invest in a better cooler so paste on stock one wouldn't matter.
@ComputerTechTV you need to go ahead and test it with the 8150p when it comes out with the new architecture people tend to forget that AMD chips use the same one as chips from 2003 that is a long A** time between updates i just hope it does not disappoint. Me personally AMD always but that is just me it like Chevy VS. Ford they both get your A** to the same place LOL.
I have two home built PCs with each CPU and I am very happy with each build, my 2500k build may be a little quicker , however both are really good I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.
Video cards are geting way out of hand today, If i have 25 fps im good, can you realy tell the screens chnageing 25 time each second? no, then 250 on Left for dead? ahaha, The screen is changeing 250 times per second theres no way you need all that
@GoBulbasourGo At 25fps you're good? Really? Most consider anything <30fps unplayable and I completely agree. If you're happy with that 25fps more power too you but even when I went from one GTX 570 to two in SLI configuration I could completely notice the diffrenence between say 40fps and 80+fps. IMO
maybe is this a rly stupid question but I am not that smart based on pc's.. : Can you unlock more cores on the 2500k? like from 4 cores to 5 or 6 cores?
@mitchkappen No only reason you can on AMD is b/c they take CPUs that aren't fully stable as 3-4 core models and sell them as less cores for cheaper price. That why you have a chance to unlock a 3 core to 4 core and so on. Its not guaranteed but lots of chips will do it. Hope that made sense and that's a good Q and A video idea will have to remember this one.
@mitchkappen no because the 2500k only has 4 cores to begin with, if intel brought a 3 core cpu (that was just binned 2500k's) then yes there may be a chance to unlock it to 4, but that's not the case
NEVER BENCH is a factor to watch. because bench only show the pr of the cpu running the bench. even if u copy the hw of that cpu u will not get the same pr can be more or less
You have to keep in mind here... this is SECOND gen 32nm vs. 45nm. Yes, AMD may be behind in the architecture but they do just fine in the bang for buck dept. If I had my choice, Yes I would buy the 2500k for $30 more but again we are comparing different generations of cpu's here. When bulldozer is released then we shall see. P.S. Got a question, i may buy the Intel Core i5-2500k with the AMD Radeon HD 6950, and 8 GB RAM. Think i will do good on the newest games? (1680x1050 maxed)
@niMoviesProductions Yes with a 22 inch screen at that res you will have do problem with that hardware. Even better performance if you OC the card and CPU.
You can use a Z68 mobo to get the intel graphics, it's not just H67 anymore. Z68 can OC the onboard graphics and processor. And has a usage for a Solid State cache.
AMD isnt cheaper have much better tech than intel. have: hypertransport 32 bit full duplex/fullspeed/128 bit memory interface n 1333 mhz. use soi package, have more feature. the intel 2500k is a basic micro, u pay almost 300 bucks for a basic sht!. The real products is totally diferent, even have nothing to do with the marketing itself!. n also maybe the micro is cheaper but amd it needs better mobos n memory. the qpi intel bus is a bad copy of hypertransport tech now they use dmi,
@icguilty I will say it has a lot to do with the company you buy from and the quality they offer not AMD or Intel but aftermarket manufacturers. Buying cheaper products will usually give you less then ideal results and/or reliability and longevity issues down the road. Not always but it happens. I have seen many high end parts that fail soon then low end comes down to how hard they are being used more then the amount you pay. The higher end boards get pushed more since people OC more.
I also can do intel 2500k run like they pentium 3 sht. is very easy do that with sw or hw. PEOPLE U NEVER BELIVE IN BENCH! first of all his is talking about his machine thats all. nothing more. I have 2600k n older amd phenom II 965 an have to much power than 2600k, my micro amd have no overclock. bad alll my machine have great balance between hw n sw.
@icguilty Benchmarks aren't everything that why I posted some game FPS results. If your a hardcore bencher or overclocker go for Intel and if your a normal gamer go with AMD plain and simple anyone who owns these chips will say the same thing. Unless your a fanboy then buy what you love I guess.
@icguilty No I don't get paid by anyone? All of the info in this video came from legitimate sites if you dont believe me Google 2500K vs 1100T and you can see for yourself.
DAMN! Onot "xpert" who shw his machine bech. FOR NOTHING AT ALL! this bencha apply to another computer First u never tallk about ur hw n how u Install ur sws, ur drivers if u foolow some logic, if u got well done ur bios, wht kind of psu u r using for amd n intel. r u using only sw designing for intel n no for amd. wht kind of trap u use to some run lower!. STOP TELLING LIES TO THE PEOPLE. if u have bad perfomance is only ur Machines that having bad perfomance. U dnt believe in this videos. LIE
@icguilty I am not even sure what to say to this comment as I have no idea what you are saying please slow down and think about what you are writing and use spell check that's why its there. Where are the lies all this info is on many reputable review/testing sites don't believe me do what I did and Google it. I am here to inform others, what you buy is up to you. Just trying to get the info out there to help others decide what they really need.
generally i am an amd guy due to over all value but those new intel cpu's are damn nice...i would buy one but since pci express 3.0 is only a few months away i am going to wait...at that time we'll see what bulldozer brings to the table....greatness or hype.
@MrMexicanZombie You should check out the upcoming Ivybridge processors they will compete with the bulldozers. I would wait for benchmarks of both b4 picking between Amd and Intel for a new pc. :)
@ComputerTechTV I bought the 1100t back in Feb right after the 2500k/2600k mobo's got recalled, I didn't want to wait, but I wish I did, I found out shortly after my purchase that the 1100t is no different then the ph II 965 x4 while both are clocked at 4.0ghz, and my 1100t was unstable passed 4.0, that's what my ph ii 965 is at right now so I sold my 1100t now i'm saving up for the 2600k :)
@TheBraden1996 You think there around the same price but you had to buy a new 1155 mb that had a defective chip and maybe wait 2 months for a replacement But for the 1100t all you needed was an am3 mb that you most likely had for a phenom ii and maybe a BIOS up date
@kickinghobo Dude, Don't be a fanboy. I love both Amd and Intel, and also I did not buy the 2500k until after that incident and I love my 2500k just as I loved my old athlon.
This is about what I expected. In gaming the Intel would kick the 6 cores butt. But I figured in some multithreaded video encoding the AMD would beat the Intel. Overall... it's hard to beat the Ci5 quads! But I guess if all you do is video editing than the AMD could be a good choice!
@Bob8673 Yea sad but thats the way it seems hope BD is all its cracked up to be if not I might just go for Sandy Bridge-E on the socket 2011 platform with PCI-E 3.0 and quad channel RAM.
Considering switching to a 2500k, whats a decent mb. under $100 for sure.

You can use a Z68 mobo to get the intel graphics, it's not just H67 anymore. Z68 can OC the onboard graphics and processor. And has a usage for a Solid State cache.

with dmi the internal bus of the micro is 133 mhz !. ahahahahahahaha.
icguilty 8 months ago
AMD isnt cheaper have much better tech than intel. have: hypertransport 32 bit full duplex/fullspeed/128 bit memory interface n 1333 mhz. use soi package, have more feature. the intel 2500k is a basic micro, u pay almost 300 bucks for a basic sht!. The real products is totally diferent, even have nothing to do with the marketing itself!. n also maybe the micro is cheaper but amd it needs better mobos n memory. the qpi intel bus is a bad copy of hypertransport tech now they use dmi,
icguilty 8 months ago
I did not use 2600K for this comparison since HT would give the CPU even more edge over the 1100T.

yay for 2500k :D

On Vantage CPU test my Phenom 955 was getting ~10989 points and my i3 2100 was getting ~10288 points. Sandybridge is a pretty dam good architecture
AgentHydra 8 months ago
@AgentHydra Yea I would say so!
ComputerTechTV 8 months ago
with memory n mobos for amd u must have great products. not any goes to amd micro.
icguilty 8 months ago

I have 2600k n older amd phenom II 965 an have to much power than 2600k, my micro amd have no overclock. bad alll my machine have great balance between hw n sw.
icguilty 8 months ago
@icguilty Benchmarks aren't everything that why I posted some game FPS results. If your a hardcore bencher or overclocker go for Intel and if your a normal gamer go with AMD plain and simple anyone who owns these chips will say the same thing. Unless your a fanboy then buy what you love I guess.
ComputerTechTV 8 months ago
N the most important Intel pay u. why? intel must pay for using they products?
icguilty 8 months ago
@icguilty No I don't get paid by anyone? All of the info in this video came from legitimate sites if you dont believe me Google 2500K vs 1100T and you can see for yourself.
ComputerTechTV 8 months ago
LIE
icguilty 8 months ago
@icguilty I am not even sure what to say to this comment as I have no idea what you are saying please slow down and think about what you are writing and use spell check that's why its there. Where are the lies all this info is on many reputable review/testing sites don't believe me do what I did and Google it. I am here to inform others, what you buy is up to you. Just trying to get the info out there to help others decide what they really need.
Good Day

generally i am an amd guy due to over all value but those new intel cpu's are damn nice...i would buy one but since pci express 3.0 is only a few months away i am going to wait...at that time we'll see what bulldozer brings to the table....greatness or hype.
MrMexicanZombie 8 months ago 7
@MrMexicanZombie You should check out the upcoming Ivybridge processors they will compete with the bulldozers. I would wait for benchmarks of both b4 picking between Amd and Intel for a new pc. :)
BASSxACE 6 months ago
@MrMexicanZombie intel is releasing the i7 2700K to fight bulldozer

TheBraden1996 8 months ago
@TheBraden1996 Good choice and since they are so close in price why wouldn't you.
ComputerTechTV 8 months ago
@ComputerTechTV I bought the 1100t back in Feb right after the 2500k/2600k mobo's got recalled, I didn't want to wait, but I wish I did, I found out shortly after my purchase that the 1100t is no different then the ph II 965 x4 while both are clocked at 4.0ghz, and my 1100t was unstable passed 4.0, that's what my ph ii 965 is at right now so I sold my 1100t now i'm saving up for the 2600k :)
unokilo321 8 months ago
@TheBraden1996 You think there around the same price but you had to buy a new 1155 mb that had a defective chip and maybe wait 2 months for a replacement But for the 1100t all you needed was an am3 mb that you most likely had for a phenom ii and maybe a BIOS up date
kickinghobo 8 months ago
@kickinghobo Dude, Don't be a fanboy. I love both Amd and Intel, and also I did not buy the 2500k until after that incident and I love my 2500k just as I loved my old athlon.
TheBraden1996 8 months ago
@TheBraden1996 i got no beef with intel i just love the number of cpu to mb combinations with amd
kickinghobo 8 months ago
@kickinghobo Yes there are a lot of diff combos available.
ComputerTechTV 8 months ago
This is about what I expected. In gaming the Intel would kick the 6 cores butt. But I figured in some multithreaded video encoding the AMD would beat the Intel. Overall... it's hard to beat the Ci5 quads! But I guess if all you do is video editing than the AMD could be a good choice!
MN12BIRD 8 months ago
@MN12BIRD Yea seems AMD just cant win on anything besides p/p ratio....
ComputerTechTV 8 months ago
for me atleast
Bob8673 8 months ago
Intel will always win...
Bob8673 8 months ago
@Bob8673 Yea sad but thats the way it seems hope BD is all its cracked up to be if not I might just go for Sandy Bridge-E on the socket 2011 platform with PCI-E 3.0 and quad channel RAM.

@ComputerTechTV what the hell your vs a 2008 tech vs 2011 tech what is wrong with you?????
