There's a logical explanation for that here: all male solnoids have been eradicated by the paranoids, so the surviving females of the former species had to clone themselves to keep the species alive, but were unable to clone the opposite gender, so, since they've been doing that since antiquity, no one could recall what a male was nor how to reproduce naturally.
it's a shame there's a lot of things in this film not suitable for a younger audience (although nudity shouldn't be a problem but is)
