  • One person prefers Justin Bieber :-/

  • It's the song of London but it really could be about any place that evokes beauty amongst sadness

  • "May the angels bribed watch you tonight and keep you while you sleep...."

  • @tybeebeech its 'angels bright', ya goon.

  • I've known of The Pogues and Shane MacGowan for an hour. It is like a treasure that has been revealed. Wondering what else I missed through the last 37 years??

  • @mortensnedker Well my friend, if you like The Pogues...have a listen to the late, great Luke Kelly, a former member of Irish band The Dubliners....try a song called Raglan Road....Luke was quite the most wonderful singer i ever heard.

  • @dubb1995 Ronnie Drew is better than Luke Kelly any day of the week

  • @dangertoy72 Sorry...Ronnie Drew was a great singer, but Luke Kelly was in a league of his own. Love ALL The Dubliners but Luke was something very special.

  • @mortensnedker That Shane MacGowan is a snot spewing drunk with a near dead yet genius brain. Wait, that comment was a year ago so you probably realised this already.

  • @mortensnedker @mortensnedker Ahaha I know it's a bit late but listen to this to :

  • Such a great song. So awesome. Saw Shane sing it last month. Damn it was good, he looked so content during the instrumental.

  • id love to hear that...whats it called so i can look it up on here?!

  • It was in Andalucia, using a Spanish guitar, that MacGowan wrote the beautiful ballad 'Lullaby Of London'. "It's basically about a bloke being pissed, corning home and stumbling into his kid's bedroom," he explains. "The kid is freaking out, he's afraid of corncrakes and stuff like that, so the dad is just saying, 'Don't get fucked up; that hell and those demons have gone.' Obviously they haven't but you've got to say that to the kid or he'll be even more screwed up later on."

  • Please explain that again in plain English!
