any smartphone you buy from an actual t-mobile store they will make you purchase a data plan but if you dont buy it threw t-mobile then you dont have to purchase the data plan

Does the T-Mobile Wing II (aka the touch pro 2 or w/e the hell) NEED a data plan?

I know what a data plan does, but I already have wi-fi at my house and I understand if i go out of range and i don't have a data plan i won't be able to go on the web.

Also, is it 3G capable? That will probably force it to have a data plan I'm pretty sure

The Wing and Touch Pro 2 are 2 different models.

The Wing doesnt have 3G but both Touch Pro's have 3G...I dont know about data plans though because most companies will force you to use the data plan if you have a smartphone just like AT&T did with the iPhone. I have a way of tricking them though =)
