Hi John, I remember seeing 40145 as 40445 many years ago and was initially horrified. I also recall seeing a black warship (as on one of my video clips) and a black 24. Surprisingly, those I didn't find objectionable. The whole point should be that the loco is still with us and still running. We should all be grateful to those that preserved these wonderful specimens.
Hi Panarail, these liveries go around in circles and so it will not be long before 40145 is back in green, I would guess. But as you say, the loco is still running and that is almost a miracle to say that they were only meant to last 15 years or so. John Wantling, Rochdale

Last time I saw a nameplate like that, it was on a 37. Not that I object to 40145 carrying it. Great to see a 40 out on the main line !!!!
