I was so irritated when Sheamus won. The PPV sales will be well down as people will know Cena will win. Sheamus hasn't lost (I may be wrong) on ECW or RAW but he's only beaten low-card wrestlers (e.g. Goldust, Jamie Noble, Santino). To be in a title match he should have already beaten some mid-carders such as MVP or Cody Rhodes to improve his credibility. WWE should have done something with Legacy after their DX feud and had Di Biase win the contendership. If not then give it to Kofi.
The question the WWE asks themselves is not "who deserves to be champion" but which main events have the chance to be most compelling and thus sell the most tickets and PPV buys.
Listen, it's a fallacy that all wrestlers need to follow the same path to stardom. Some may benefit from long stints at the mid-card level, while others will have a stronger impact if they explode onto the scene in a more dynamic way. Obviously the WWE deems Sheamus to be the latter case. Give him a chance.
I believe that the WWE is becoming impatient and really think that stars can be built over night. Which proves my point if it is true that they gave up on Swagger and Ziggler.
I think Sheamus has some great potential as an up and coming heel but maybe this is too soon cause people really have not seem that much of his capabilities. He hasn't developed enough as a character and I agree with those concerns. I am willing to give this a chance though. :-)
Oh, it's not like he's going to win. The way I see it, this is just a step in establishing this guy to be a legitimate threat sometime down the road. The same thing happened with the likes of Vader and Mankind during the Shawn Michaels Championship era.
Hell, didn't Cena himself start like this during the days of Brock Lesnar?
So I'm interested in seeing how this match goes, but fear another Miz Squash. Remember the hype for that one? And what happened? Typical Cena, but MUCH WORSE
It's no suprise that Sheamus is getting a huge push, he's big Vince loves the big guys. Since Khali, Lesnar, Lashley, Vladimir, Big Daddy V (not Viscera), are big, they got huge pushes, and now Sheamus is getting onee since he's big.
But I like that Sheamus is getting the push he's getting, finally a new face in the main event/world title picture.
its just a push to ecw title, which in my oppinion is a mid point to wwe/world heavyweight fom united states/intercontinental, i think Shelton should get a wwe title shot over superstars that are a little to new to wwe and havent held any previous titles, shelton has had intercontinental, united states, and tag team titles on smackdown, raw and now he is going to be ecw champion, he should of got a title push in 2004 after he got two wins over HHH, if you haven't guessed he is my fave superstar
It's all about Raw trying to keep up the "anything can happen" thing it's tried to keep up since the Attitude Era. No one expected Sheamus to win. Most people watching that match were probably thinking Kofi, Orton, or MVP would get it.
I'll wait for the match to happen and then I'll compliment/complain.
imo shelton shud be a guy wwe pushes on raw he is by far one the best in ring performer in wwe and i no yes his mic skills is not great but give him a mouthy and energetic manager and he can be wat wwe need great excample paul heyman brock lesnar so yeah give shelton a manager (not his mom)
I really enjoy Sheamus and everything but it is too soon. It doesn't matter how much heart he has for the industry. It's all for the fans and you gotta do what will excite them. Most fans don't really care how much "passion" or "dedication" they have...they just want to be entertained.
i really like Sheamus! he is a great wrestler, a great performer and a great heel wrestler! the reason of Sheamus getting a title-match is because he is one of the new guys who really shows heart for the industry. He is always there on houseshows, always helping the others up, plus he's got a lot of support from Triple H & McMahon. Sheamus is here to stay!
I as well was a guy that wanted to see a new face in the title hunt.....but knowing Vince this was a way to say "you want someone new, well heres the rookie."
At least its a step in the right direction. Most people (including me) are sick and tired of triple h and randy orton getting title shots. Yes I do think Sheamus was pushed too soon and there are many guys on raw that could be in the main event besides Sheamus. I would like 2 see Chris Masters back in the main event, ever since he returned he's been a jobber. As Kofi goes I cant see him as a main eventer because of the way WWE advertised him. Jack Swagger should be pushed to the main event.
the WWE don't push the guys WE liket to see, they push the ones THEY want to see. Evan Bourne is the prime example, he is one of the most talented guys there ans now he's a jobber on RAW, on TNA, we wanted to see AJ Styles, and now he's the champion!
You are not alone, I was thinking & scratching my head on Sheamus already getting a WWE Title Shot. It's new but what has he done of relevance, other than feud with Goldust & Shelton Benjamin, Shelton is finally getting his push as well with Christian for the ECW Title.
i don't hate Sheamus that much but isn't this a little too soon? i remember this was the same reaction we had when Swagger got the ECW title when he's barely into the mainstream for 3 months. okay, it's a title shot but what made him more deserving than folks like DiBiase Jr and the other names i mentioned before?
This was a great topic to bring up. I believe he is being pushed too fast. I liked his push but it is way too fast. I wonder why they decided to do this with him and not other heels in the past who had the "it factor" in my eyes more than he does such as MVP, Swagger, and even Kennedy when he was a heel in the E.
i think swagger should have been given the shot despite how he has been used since coming to raw (which i didnt agree with). i think swagger coming from ecw had momentum and especially after him and cena's match at the draft this year, i believe swagger should have been that heel to go after cena. but thats just me.
good to have u back...Sheamus is so damn pale now there's nothing bad about that but he's not ready for the main event and expect him to go down after he loses to da Champ
i agree, when was the last time Sheamus experienced sunlight? or does he even get some sunlight at all?
anyway, i was expecting either Kofi or Swagger or hell yes, The Miz (just to redeem himself) to be booked against Cena. it's like "okay we got someone to book against Cena. let's see what comes out of this." it looks experimental to me
Although I think Evan Bourne or Kofi would've been more exciting, I think Sheamus should get an opportunity. I don't know if he necessarily deserves it, but I like that it's fresh, and I actually like Sheamus, I think he's been a pretty decent heel lately.
I think almost everyone have mixed feeling about Shamus being the number one contender. For me I like the fact that there is a new challenger for the title but how long has he been in the WWE 4 month? Most ppl didnt know about him till 5 weeks ago when he showed up on Raw. He will get his chance to impress at TLC though so lets see where it goes from there.
I'm on the fence. Part of me is excited to see someone new fighting for the title, but part of me is like "meh" to see Sheamus get the opportunity. I think someone who had been there a little longer would have been a better choice, like Jack Swagger or even R-Truth (based on him being heavily promoted on Smackdown with all of the promos and vignettes, and his big run in TNA) with a suitable storyline. For example: Thug from the streets vs. White guy turned rapper (no offense intended to anyone).
I think he is good enough to be where he is, maybe i would of gave it a few months before i put him in the main event but right now the title picture is stale beyond repair , so fuck it , even though i know Cena is going to use his "superhuman" powers again & "against the odds" he'll still be champion come the next night on raw after TLC, which sucks , also the fans were chanting boring in sheamus' matches on raw,so this will make the fans take notice & stop him becoming the next Kozlov.
That is a magnificent beard, i can only hope that my beard can equal such lol. AQlso Sheamus should be a supporting character a Randy Savage to someones Hogan.
It has been a long long time since I cheered as much then when I saw sheamus winning on raw. It is kinda sudden, but I think sudden / unexpected things should happen more often.
Swagger or the Miz were the other heel options, but The Miz has a belt (and was buried by Cena) and Swagger has no momentum, so Sheamus is the logical choice. Kingston and Bourne are great, but Face vs. Face just wouldn't work for a first-time main-eventing and certainly not against a relatively limited wrestler as cena.
Why do you think so? In my opinion Sheamus has got all package... In ring work, presence, charisma, mic skills, the look... Maybe he has strange gimmick but whatever.
I just think it would have made a little more sense to have Kofi go to the #1 Contender spot with the push he's been getting against Orton, which I thought was done really well done. But this is going to be a test, and hopefully Sheamus can get over more as a nasty-kind-of heel.
Sheamus got pushed really really fast, but hes undefeated, so idk if they are making this out to be Goldberg-Hogan from 12 years ago or if Sheamus is the new Leasnor. I woulda thought Kofi or Swagger would have been the winner over Sheamus. Im on the Sheamus bandwagon, and I hope more jump on over the next couple of weeks. I think WWE needs to have a breakthrough battle royal every year, its absolutly brilliant to book that match.
Well, I always wish that the Royal Rumble match could be booked more like a "breakthrough" battle royal. Maybe that's when a Kofi or Swagger (who I am a big supporter of) or Bourne can be pushed up to freshen up the main event scene in WWE.
But hey, Sheamus is an alright start if you ask me.
I may have not seen enough of Sheamus but personally I don't really see him as being ready to go beyond the mid-card. I reckon he could be a good champion but he really doesn't have the air of a top-tier wrestler around him right now.
WWE's problem is that they want to give Cena new rivals but they lack well built-up heels. Most of their heels either have no momentum (Swagger, Masters) or are currently stuck in their own feuds or teams (Orton, Legacy, Jerishow).
Sheamus is great i like him he demolishes everyone and makes the crowd hate His ass so thats good but i thought WWE was gonna have him come out everyweek and be like any one who thinks they can beat me try and then he'll kill them butt all of a sudden he's facing CENA In a tables match 4 the WWE Championship wowo way 2 soon wayyy 3 soon but there is no way that he will take the title away drom cena and if he does SHEAMUS RANT
how the fuck does this guy deserve a title shot already?! fuck me sensitively make the Miz perhaps ermm Kofi perhaps i dunno but not this guy i'm happy with Orton being champ or Cena but if we have to have a new guy then one of them but not frickin milk bottle man
I love Sheamus, i believe he's "The Next Big Thing" in the WWE and i was very excited when he won the Battle royal. if this is done right i think alot of new talent will also get Title shots in the near future.
I think they put Sheamus out too early. I think that he could be good, but he shouldn't be put up so high, so early. I also don't think he should be destroying people like Finlay, like he is. I think Kofi should have gotten the nod. I also think Bourne should get some title shot that he'll actually win.
On a side note, do you watch TNA. If you don't I highly suggest that you do because things are getting really exciting there, not to mention that you get to see some great legends like Foley.
Just be thankful they're pushing somebody NEW! Would you rather see this, or Orton and Cena/ HHH and Cena for the MILLIONTH TIME? Also, I have a strong feeling that Kofi Kingston will be WWE Champion in the nearer future.
Sheamus trains with Triple H and Drew McIntyre is pushed by Triple H even though his matches are boring and he gets no reaction.
Sheamus is a good guy cause he wants to work but it is too early he does not have a character even though he can be stereotyped easily.
Evan Bourne will never make it cause he is a typical small ROH guy like Kendrick London and Kofi's character can not be taken seriously. They have MVP Swagger Miz who get a huge reaction. But Triple H brand will never get new stars.
i think before the ppv they have to give Sheamus the oppurtunity to have a good 1v1 match on tv to prove that he can go because all hes done on raw is beat up noble and the king and that doesnt do much for me
Sheamus is a great wrestler, in my opinion. He has the mic skills, the look, the ability. Most people don't like him because of his white features, and his appearance. I love Sheamus, but the WWE is pushing him way too soon. He started in ECW, then Triple H came along. He upgraded to Raw, and he has done nothing except "retire" Jamie Noble and beat up some people. But really, he's in the main event picture now, so we can only hope that the WWE doesn't do the same mistakes they made with Kozlov.
I'm fine with the match, i can't comment on whether it will be any good until i see it, i've seen him live a couple of times and he can go... but he certainly doesn't deserve this... but what can you do? It's going to happen, so we just have to hope they have a good match
They do this every year, they give a mid-carder a title shot just to test the water with them because they know that the December PPV isn't going to be bought by as many people anyway. (What with two of the big 4 on either side of it.) So this year they chose Sheamus simply because of his attitude. Backstage he's been said to go above and beyond, showing up on his nights off and everything.
What WWE's trying to do is answer there critics for saying that the same guys (especially on Raw) fued for the World Title's all the time. I mean come one Jesse Ventura said that himself this past week on Raw. I also think it's quite interesting that the last time this sort of situation came around it was Backlash 2003 when Cena challenged the very much established Brock Lesnar for the WWE title before being relegated back to the mid-card. So lord knows whats going to happen to Sheamus.
Also, the reason why Sheamus is suddenly in the main event, is due to backing from Triple H. Yes, they're building new stars....just the wrong ones at this moment. Would have prefered a US title run first. Sheamus might surprise us with a good match, though. k, I'll stop typing.
I made the link between Kozlov and Sheamus. Sheamus is a really talented guy and he deserves credit for it but, this is just too soon. In my eyes Sheamus has not earned the right to get a WWE title shot, hes never held a title in WWE before, hes never even had a title shot before, his gimmick isnt developed enough, his moveset isnt developed enough. Hes just not ready for something that huge.
If you ask me, Jack Swagger was the obvious choice here if they wanted to push someone.
I'm a big fan of Sheamus, but should he be #1 contender now? No. If they wanted to put a heel against Cena, Swagger would be better. Sheamus needs a bit more time before he can main event. Still, I think some people might be raging too much over this. They're only putting Sheamus in as a filler #1 contender until the Royal Rumble (They sometimes do this). I'm sure we can survive a few weeks. Still, it's new star, and it beats another Orton match, right?
you noe Sheamus is really impressive but i think theyre are pushing him a little bit too much but then again we all noe sheamus is not gonna win its just gonna help him to go to main event status quicker
Sheamus is talented, he does need a title shot, but not the WWE title, more like the US or Intercontinental, plus Sheamus is still pretty new and its not really fair that he gets the title shot.
Please answer... Why isnt Chris in the videos anymore > :(

I like sheamus but i feel he is not too ready to go in the wwe title picture

Miz or Swagger. How does Seamus have political power?

Still, it's new star, and it beats another Orton match, right?

you noe Sheamus is really impressive but i think theyre are pushing him a little bit too much but then again we all noe sheamus is not gonna win its just gonna help him to go to main event status quicker
samardosamuels 2 years ago
Sheamus is talented, he does need a title shot, but not the WWE title, more like the US or Intercontinental, plus Sheamus is still pretty new and its not really fair that he gets the title shot.

First view :) I don't like Sheamus. He seems like a legit bad guy..
