  • Winglets are also made to reduce wake turbulence

  • its amazing they didnt think of it years ago, loooove wiiiinglets, more graceful looking than airbuses sharklets ~ :))

  • such cool winglets

  • wow. those winglets are HUGGEEEEEE... :O

  • Winglets reduce drag, increase top speed and fuel efficiency.

  • 767/757 look fresh with these fitted

they save fuel thats why they retro fit them

get a idea how big they are next to a man

  • What do the winglets do to a plane??

  • @CaptainCruise1, on a normal wing the high pressure air underneath tends to take a shotcut around the wing tip to the top of the wing. The effect of this is to reduce the effectiveness of the last two meters or so of the wing. Adding a winglet will either allow a shorter wing to be designed or give the wing more lift and better fuel economy.

  • Less fuel

  • 767 with winglets ? I never see

  • Then start watching ;)

More and more 76/ get Winglets ;)

  • COOL. these winglets are bigger then people

    awesome :D

  • COOOL

  • I want to have a Winglet =D

  • Air NZ Press release on October 13, 2009 adivises of a higher fuel saving than expected - a cool 19%. Sorry fares can`t come down by that amount!

  • @AirflowNZ hopefully my shares or dividend go up in value instead!

  • Damn its hard to picture the scale of the winglets until people are next to them. There Huge.

  • lol, i'll assume thats rob fyfe in the scissor lift:)

  • On Scissor lift: Pilot Captain Julian Alai-ANZ Deputy CO Norm Thompson - Grnd. Engineer Deane Salzwedel. Sorry for delay in replying.

  • yea they should keep their 747-400s love em

  • will miss anz 747s they should order the a380 instead of the 773! love those 747s

    =[

  • Im gonna fly with the Air NZ 767-300ER in a few months! :D

  • Beautiful footage, simply the best 767 with winglets around. Lets hope Air NZ consider adding winglets on their 772's. That would be a sight.

  • 777 doesnt need them, its extremely aerodynamic!!:)

  • they still have a few years of life at NZ in them! they won't be phased out without the 787 coming online and they just had their avod pvt installed end of last year.

  • Love the video. The winglets look sensational. Hope Air New Zealand keep the 767's for a little while longer...

  • theyre going to keep them until their first 787-8's arrive in 2014ish, oh the joys of delays in the 787 program!!

  • So are they replacing all their B763 WL's fleet with new B787's?

  • all air nz 767's are being replaced by 787's:) just like the 747's are being replaced by 777-300ER's:)

  • oh wow, that kind of sucks cuz i love the B763, oh well. So, what do they do with those aircraft sell them or store them?

  • arent they getting 747 l8's or sumthing

  • noup, theyre getting 787's and 777-300ER's

  • Nah, Lufthansa is the only airline that has 748's on order.

  • @ansettaddict123 "theyre going to keep them until their first 787-8's arrive ".......nope, make it 787-9's !!

  • awesome they look fantastic, hopefully means the 763 will be in our skies for a while longer

  • I saw it landing at AKL this morning =)
