  • Figaro was really in love. Very good interpretation. I liked the slower tempo, compared to other versions I heard, it suits really well on the deceptive cadence at the end.

I believe you added some extra color to some parts of the melody, right ? Came out really good.

  • Liszt was a bit unfair to Thalberg, methinks...

  • superbe.

  • i really love this. it's beautiful you have an amazing talent and a beautiful instrument

  • could anyone send me the sheet music?? Thanks

  • wow amazing!"

  • I've done most exciting O.O :) very good !

  • You have a very nice feel for Mozart. Beautiful rendition of this beautiful piece!

  • I love it... gives me very pleasant goosebumps.

  • Where can I find the sheet music to the version that you are playing? Anyone has info? Many Many thanks in advance.

  • very nice...thanks for the upload..this is one of my favorite classical pieces..

  • Very lovely interpretation!

  • Beautiful! Where can I download the sheet music? Thank you for your help!

  • @MishaTandler I have the sheet music, if you want I could scan it and send you it? I'm learning this song now :)

  • wonderful!! Really enjoy listening to this piece and you've captured it so well. I hope I can play like this someday :)

  • where can we get the sheet music for this? cheers

  • bravissimo maestro

  • I know the aria but I did not know it could be just played on the piano. It's most beautiful. Exellent job.

  • This is wonderful. I always want to sing along, but the register is way too high and I end up sounding like a dying cat. :)

  • By which I mean to ask, do you know where I could find the sheet music? Sorry about the multiple comments!

  • Just sublime! Thank you for posting! Some members of my university orchestra are accompanying Mozart opera scenes - I was jealous because I was assigned to something different, but maybe I can get my taste of Mozart opera on the piano instead =)

  • This moved me to tears.

  • @rsmullyan Dear Raymond, what an honour to hear from you here! And thank you so much for your kind comment! Best wishes from Switzerland, Tobias

  • I listen to this almost every day. Beautiful! You truly are amazing.

  • @bellajakeparis Wow, thanks for such a nice comment!

  • Beautiful, thoroughly enjoyed singing to this. If I get a better mic, will post a response singing it x

  • Beautifull portrait of Sir Chopin on the wall in background - I couldnt not spot it as I am polish :)

  • Regarding my exam. I gained a distinction 136 marks, so I thought I would let you know. The examiner loved my Voi Che Sapete. Many thanks again for your help!

    Ruth

  • @nitrammmah Hi Ruth, nice to hear from you again and congratulations for the successful exam!!

  • Always wonderful to hear these inexplicably neglected Thalberg transcriptions--wonderful job.

  • @Thracozaag Thanks a lot, Koji! Btw, are you playing in Husum again this summer? Or at some other location in or around Germany?

  • @pianovirus Not this summer, but I'm finishing up my Tchaikovsky 4th transcription for some fall concerts, we'll see how it turns out....

  • Interesting to hear a Thalberg transcription - and nicely played too! Thank you!

  • I'm devastatingly enchanted by your arrangement! Truly amazing and evoking such great emotions. Could you also send to me how to get the score?

  • @jackvaughan To clarify, the arrangement is not by me! As the text says, it is by Sigismond Thalberg, a contemporary of Liszt. I got the sheet music from the internet, but can't find it at the moment. Will get back to you soon!

  • I would think that, being a pianist myself, playing the piano is in your system, just like a virus. I could not live without my piano and I'm sure pianovirus feels the same.

Thank you for this lovely playing. I have my singing exam tomorrow and you don't know how much you have helped me with this song. I will let you know my results in a few weeks time.

    Ruth

  • @MrHamsters4 Thanks for your comment, Ruth! I hope the exam went well... :)

  • So beautiful! It is your own interpretation or did you learn from sheet music? If sheet music, please could you let me know where to get it or the arranger? I have this song but it is not arranged as beautifully as you have it here. Wonderful job!

  • Why "PianoVIRUS" ?

  • @AnneSo30400 Why not? :-P

  • keep up the good work, buddy!

  • I have to learn that!!! It's beautiful! =)

  • I hate to be the guy that asks but, I can't seem to find this sheet music. Could you tell me were I might be able to find it? Great job, btw

  • Thanks Pianovirus. It's rather a long way from England, but I will bear it in mind. I have some Scubert- Standchen, der Lindenbaum, Die Forelle for example- lovely! Keep up the good work anyway. What would life be without music such as this?

  • Where do you live? i want to come and sing to your wonderful playing.

  • @nitrammmah Thanks, this is Switzerland! You are welcome to say hello if you pass by on your way to the Alps.... bring along some Schubert or Mozart songs :)

  • Beautifully played.

  • thank you for your job, i´m a singer.... is the best version in youtube, thanks!

  • great job

  • Flawless, good feeling for tempo and emotion, you are a very gifted piano player.

    thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks!! I'm happy if you folks enjoy these transcriptions as much as I do!

  • Thank you very much for this video. I expect to make good use of it in the next few weeks as I'm planning to sing Voi Che Sapete in an upcoming recital, and this is just the right tempo. (There's another one on YouTube that's so fast it freaks me out!) Great performance.

  • Thanks and best wishes for your recital!!

  • Thanks for the video ...

great performance, i love Thalberg's transcritpions in "l'Art du Chant"

Chopin is looking after you in the back ground ^^

  • @Rubatoforever Thanks I also love this op. 70 set. And yes, it's Frédéric who is always (forced to) watching me :-) Btw, great nickname!!

  • Thankyou!

  • Beautiful, I want to play that!

  • Such a great feeling for dynamics and colours is even on famous pianist performances not guaranted- you feel a fantastic emotion für melodies and thus you give the less importnat voices less loudness, really excellet- besides is a great job do bring thalberg back zu our conscience- I´m shure your audience in concert will apreciate all of that- many thanks for sharing

  • Wow!! you are great, do you know where to get the score?

  • This is lovely - very beautifully and musically played. Well done! It's a sensitive transcription too. Do you know where I can obtain a score?

  • What a nice thing to say! Thank you! And yes, indeed, these op. 70 pieces are beautiful, sensitive transcriptions. I'll send you a PM on how to obtain the score.

  • Congratulutations..

    Bravo!!!!!!

  • Thanks Bonniesopra!! :)

  • Great performances!!! Great pianist!!1

  • Great Music!! Dolce!!!

  • Great Performance! Wonderful! Simple and pure ,but Divine! Congratulations! it is always a pleasure to hear you You are always magnify!

  • Ahhh ... so fresh and vibrant. real, simple and pure, like all interpretations should be.

    Bravooo.

  • What a nice comment! Thanks Rodher88!

  • Tell me please about the red light at your piano. i was really confused :)

    but i like your interpretation!

  • Thanks, and no need to get confused: It's just the reflection of the camera's red light! The piano is still all wood and iron :-)

  • Very nice!! keep up the good work, it's a beautiful song, one of my favorites, I sang along with the piano :)

  • Thank you!! I'm happy it made you sing along!!! :)

  • I can only add to the other folks that commented in saying that was just perfect! I'm a rank amateur so take what I say with a grain of salt but I really like your style.. very fresh and sincere.

  • Beautiful performance

    very Brilliant & expressive

    Excellent 5*

  • Brilliant!! Have you ever thought of entering any competitions or festivals?

  • Thanks! I'm obviously not good enough for a "real" comp. or festival, but I'll play a 70-minute all-transcriptions recital in a local school in late autumn and I also hope for some other opportunities to play that program in small places in other cities. Any suggestions welcome - I play for free of course, always happy to find some patient listeners :-)

  • Hey, man!! Don't sell yourself short..That's the best I've ever heard that piece..Some of the professionals play it so slow and pompously..Your interpretation is great!!

  • Simply excellent. 5/5

  • Thanks very much, and also to the three previous posters!!

  • crispy and lovely!

  • joyous and a very lovely sound you elicit here, thanks for sharing!

  • Thank you sharing with me. It is beautiful. It is such popular piece, but you made it so beautiful . Bravo!

  • Hi again, Tobias. ;)

And again, let me say how nice this recording is. I like to watch your hands too. btw - what kind of piano do you have?

  • Hi Monica! Thanks so much! It's a Yamaha C3 - I must say I love the bass region, while the higher regions I love a bit less. But overall I'm very happy, especially compared to my old upright. What kind is your piano?

  • I have a Yamaha C2. I am mostly happy with it, as well. The upper register is sometimes a bit too bright and some keys sound too 'mushy' with the una corda pedal, but that is getting very picky. I think we ourselves pick these things out, whereas nobody else notices them.

  • bellissimo, voglio lo spartito! :)

  • Mille grazie! (sorry my Italian is too bad to understand the second part of your post)

  • hahaha I just said I want the score :-). Very beautiful.

  • My god... I think after a video such as this, you can stop calling yourself an amateur - because I've heard so-called professionals play it only half as good as this...

That was beautifully done... and I mean that seriously, coming from another Piano teacher.

    That was really, lovely.

  • Hi Peter, that's too kind! Thanks a lot for this nice comment. I just listened to your test recital (Chopin Ballade 2) and was impressed!

  • Oh thanks... My ballade was a little rough then, since it was still 3 months before my exam, although my teacher kept saying to me that it still should have been perfect even though there were 3 months till the exam...

Keep up the videos... I've definately subscribed.

  • Dear Tobias thank you for sharing your beautiful video with this special rendition 'plein de charme'!

    I hope you're wonderful!

  • Grazie, Franco! I'm glad you liked it. I still remember your beautiful Schubert waltzes recordings!! Ciao, see you soon!

  • Yes I liked it very much! You're a real musician dear Tobias!

  • That´s a very nice transcription of this famous aria of Mozart´s "Marriage of Figaro". You play it very musically and expressively and the sound-quality of your recording is really beautiful.

    Really great! *****

  • Thank you very much, Andreas! I just saw you put a video of a Chopin Recital you did. Wow! I plan to watch this in the next days. I hope you were happy with the way it went!

  • Thank you,Tobias, the video is just a little recital in my home. The "real" recital still is in the next future.

  • Thank you all for the nice comments! That made my day! :)

  • It's always nice to see more Thalberg on youtube. :)

  • Wonderful your song and the sound of piano !!!

    5 Star Full

    Serena Costantino
