A Human will be able to understand and analyze what they must do in a situation much faster than a Chimp. We are able to create NEW info by Analyzing the environment around us at a much faster rate.

Chimps on the other hand, do not remember like this, they will trust their retained memory (past experiences) before creating this new information from rationalizing.

While I DO have to agree some what that this has to do with the Chimps simply having much more practice than their Human counter parts; if you stick a chimp that has never done this before, they still score higher than the Human most of the time.

Basically it comes down to this, it's not a matter on one having better memory than the other, it each (Human and Chimps) having DIFFERENT types of memories.

Humans are able UNDERSTAND the info faster and better. Chimps are able to RETAIN more.

I'm sure this has to do with conditioning, the chimps have been in scientific testing enviroments for much longer than the human counterparts.I'm sure this has something to do with it.
