This is great but I found this bucket o shrooms tek on shroomery that looks much more effective, basically just make the cakes then break them up and case them in a bucket using a shower cap to retain moisture/humidity. Put some holes in the side above the casing and just grip the center of the cap and move up and down to vent....FKN GENIUS!!!!!

yes he talks about oysters, and shiitake mushrooms, neither are illegal or psychedelic and can be purchased at most grocery stores. This tek doesn't work for all strains the same, nor does it give you a ton of yield compared to different teks out there. However it is very simple, and a great place to start if you want to try to grow your own shrooms. Course there's the old standby of picking them off moisture vaporators, just watch out for the tusken raiders!

1. After soaking the cakes and rolling them in the dry verm, did you push them down into the "soil" or just set them on top?

2. What amout of sunlight do mushroom require? In general. Would keeping them in my closet be sufficient or do I need to bring them outside?

Dont push them down at all just set them on top lightly. 2. keep in relative darkness while colonizing the jars but after birthing soaking and rolling you just need a few hours of light a day. Sunlight or artificial light is not important. In a closet with a small desk lamp on for 6 to 12 hours a day is just fine.

@oasisoasis21 Don't spray directly. I'd say as long as the humidity is close to 100% you'll be fine without misting or if you notice no "fogging up" or water drops on the side that means your tank needs an increase in humidity. Good luck.

@oasisoasis21 Not as much as plants do, but it is very beneficial to their growth. It's sort of to establish a circadian rhythm, like me and you have, the sun tells us to wake up and the dark tells us to go to sleep. Use a light in the 6500k spectrum with a lighting cycle for 12hrs on, 12 hrs off.

You're correct that mushrooms are a fungus and don't require light for energy, however they are exposed to light in nature and this signals the fruiting period of their life cycle.
