  • 2:50, NEVER run on the fire ground!

  • Good work. One thing though, I'm really hoping you carry 4" or 5" LDH for supply lines, and that the use of a 2 1/2" from the hydrant was just a fluke here. If you make a habit of using 2 1/2" as a supply line I suggest you look into the "sofa super store fire" and see what friction loss can do to a fire attack. Overall good work

  • You can drop 2 1/2 and supply I have done your feeding an 1 1/2 line as attack. Whats the deal with the siren and airhorn when going around the corner?

  • No one did an initial 360 and a chief grabbed a nozzle to do an attack himself and then continue with the nozzle around back later on to put out spot fires. Interesting.

  • never come off the rig on air

  • no ventilation being done..

  • Mabas what do you do if you go to a residential fire and no one is home who notifies the residents that there house is on fire

  • @iamaprincesssowhat I am assuming that if nobody has a contact number for the homeowners they come home to find their house has burned down

  • @iamaprincesssowhat Usually Police will notify the home owners, or at least provide Fire Dept. with the information to do so, and then the Chief or Asst. Chief will contact them

  • Good work guys. classic entry and attack Well done.

  • WHY DID SECOND DUE ENGINE TAKE FIRST DUE ENGINE LINE? THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A FIST FIGHT IN NYC! JUST WONDERING!

  • Is New Chicago volunteer or career?

  • @alaskabigfoot Lake Station and New Chicago are both volunteer

  • @mabas21 look at all the yellowish brown smoke thats a bad ass fire vent that shit quick

  • @protectoroffaith The fire was already through the roof and burned out the side of the house, it was already vented

  • What r pass devices I hear them going off all the time

  • @MegaFreedom911 Personal Alert Safety System. I think, it's been awhile since basic lol

  • 3:15 ahhh the backdraft method

  • It sounds like their PASS devices were doing the same thing my department's were doing. They would sound constantly no matter what you did. MSA repaired them and said it was the little ball inside that detected movement was stuck.

  • @1wHyBoThEr1 Hmm, duly noted.

  • Sounds like their PASS devices were doing the same thing ours were. They would sound constantly no matter what until MSA finally fixed them.

  • Sounds like a couple guys don't know how to turn off their PASS devices.

  • Awesome JOB guys Great Firefighters

  • Why did the chief make entery?

  • Good vid a few mistakes tho... also thier was only 2 engine co's nice.. but u can always tell who dont wanna go inside bcuz even tho the 2 tip men located n extinguished the fire they didnt have n e bck up right away on the line.. SMH thts how guys get hurt.. so advise u to tell yur men to step it up... but n e way great work. stay safe..

  • So sad

  • was this TV or something?? Dropping a 2 1/2" for a supply line???

  • lol at 8:28, as a joke i would of hosed the guy in the window lol

  • Fuckin fearless charging in like that. That is just pure bravery.

  • Nice

  • Nice vid

  • Good shot of the rear bedroom window Mabas21. You can see at around the 2:40 mark, the windows start's to flex from the heat and eventually gives way.Excellent footage on how ventilation can increase fire conditions.

  • Excellent, Excellent Fire Fighting!!! Great Job! fast water, fast attack!!

  • at 8:30 the one fightfighter is like HIII

  • Filming and taking pictures is the best thing you can do, it can help investigators determine the cause of fire. (so long as you don't get in the way)

  • @WhatTheHell09 and type of fire

  • Next time rip off the screen door,it could have caused a firefighter their life.

  • Try ...before ya pry, otherwise nice job!

  • Pass Alarm!!!!!!!

  • Great quality!

  • nice job fellas. good forced entry, 2 handlines in operation. well done

  • Very nice attack. Efficient entry and hose movement. Only critique is the lack of an initial 360 unless it was done off camera. Great job brothers

  • how the fire start

  • @adams5499 I am pretty sure it was declared arson, the house was vacant for some time.

  • A great job! Got water on the fire within seconds of arriving and stopped further spread. Second line is a back up and is text book operation. They are right! A flawless operation!

  • Why do so many department feel the need to stretch a second line when the first one is not in operation. this is a one line fire.

  • I am not a fire fighter but I know a few and I give all respect to what you do. I just want to know, can someone tell me when you should fight the fire from the outside vs going in like they did on this video and can you explain why? Thank you and God bless all fire fighters

  • @tdluvs I can only tell you sth about the methods in germany. We always first try to get into the building in any case to knock down the fire with less water as possible, in order not to damage more from the people's guts as needed. But in germany, most houses have an massiv construction, so we don't risk fire in walls etc. or a the building collaps in any way. I think this makes a big difference in the choise of the tactic to attack the fire.

    Greets from Germany

  • @tdluvs You want to fight it from the inside because it pushes the fire away from the unburned areas and keeps it confined to the burned areas, but with an exterior attack you're pushing the fire back to the unburned areas. The only time you should do an exterior attack is when its totally unsafe to go in.

  • nice vid

  • As a firefighter myself all I can say is flawless.....excellent video.

  • good fire attack.

  • No 360 size up that is my biggest pet pev

  • @117ladder I was thinking the same thing. Run up, kick the door and run in, the 3rd guy in went in without his partner too. Also were is the RIT? I'd have the first team enter and the second team attack from outside. Just my opinion.

  • @kunzy04 At least they made a quick KD on the fire.

  • @117ladder True, they got to it and took it out quick, saved most of the house.

  • @kunzy04 You can't wait for the RIT team to arrive. Waiting for RIT only makes the situation worse. The safest way to protect ourselves is to put the fire out. Lastly you never mix offensive and defensive. If you have a crew inside making a push you don't want another crew pushing the heat back on them.

  • @LawrenceCountyNews How is it safer to enter a house without a RIT team? To protect ourselves we should absolutely have a RIT Team in place before entering a structure.

  • @117ladder I agree, but otherwise a good stop, for the conditions presented.

  • not bad for the crew they had. but as soon as they forced the door they should have checked over their heads, cause that fire was def in the attic.

  • @johnny917811 yes it was definately overhead as well

  • Such excellent coverage of a great attack! We all could only hope that we live within a fire district of such great firefighters. Love your videos and keep them coming please! Also pass along some appreciation to those wonderful firefighters you cover in your videos. Wish you and the those you cover the best!

  • 2 in 2 out? That Entry wouldn't fly where I'm from...Nice knock down though.

  • The citizens of this community can be damn proud of their fire dept, perfectly executed, they laid in,..attacked with two lines, quick water, saved a lot of property in the unburned parts of the home, made it look easy. Great Job.

  • Excellant fire attack aggressive safe and quickly knock the fire down. Good use of forcible entry as well, this is good training imma vol fire fighter myself and i watch Gary and Lake Station all the time to help me out, your videos are awesome bub keep it up

  • @FFEMTCrowe Thank you for the comment and glad you enjoy the videos. Keep an eye out, more coming soon!

  • Maybe if they put more fire on the fire the chain reaction would cause giant watermellons to fall from the sky! then when they land on the ground it would cause a massive earthquake which then causes the ocean to fly up into the air and land on this house. i think it could work

  • drdruiddumbassjr........ur a fucking idiot , i have read all ur comments, dude u make no since why dont u tell me ur address soo when ur house is on fire will wait for u to come home and give me the key ok and ill do what u want us do and i'll throw water from the outside will see how long it takes ur house to burn to the ground.....just sayin ..still great work guys!!!

  • @mphilemon93 agreed

  • Awesome Job Guys! Great Knockdown. Obviously Dr. must be a Dr. If he was a fire fighter he'd know you attack when possible from inside to push the fire out. Gre

  • @fireman11771 agreed. the ONLY time youd want to fight a fire from the outside, is in the wilderness. aka push said fire toward the burnt areas already. but even then that would be partially wrong.

  • 3:32 FF makes the door his bitch.

  • Only ? Why Not an outside Attack line?

    as well?

  • great job guys way to go!..and guys were suposed to be brothers....i guess some people dont understand that...(@drdruidkjr) its called brotherhood ..(crushit) ur right there were some saftey violations but everybody is ok and there is still half of a house left.....by the way for ur door they busted in, thats what USB is for.. great job brothers.

  • Paid or Volunteer doesn't matter! These firefighters in this video are top shelf professionals!

On the scene and stretching lines at 2:40 and basically under control at 7:00! 4 minutes and 20 seconds for knockdown???!!! Unreal! These brothers and sisters are GOOD!!!!

  • @Wonkawillie77 --Look! It's my new Friend! Personally, I enjoy the original Wonks vs. that horrible remake. And I disagree with you...Paid firefighters are much better because....THEY GET PAID!!! Volunteers usually let pets burn, because it isn't worth getting burned just to save an Armadillo...atleast, that's what I heard.

  • @gutturtle You have this knowledge how? You a paid firefighter? Is that why you know so much? Frankly, from what you just wrote you don't know shit.

  • @Wonkawillie77 --Hey, it's my good budy, Willy Wonka!!! That was an awesome "MOM" insult, where you did her in the butt in my trailer park! I might use that sometime, if you don't mind. I guess what I have a problem with is you mocking people in Trailer Parks. Am I to assume you are sooo much better than someone who can only afford, or choose to live in a trailer? I would love for you to post a video telling people who live in trailer parks all the ways you are sooo much better than them!

  • @gutturtle Why don't you reply to my original comment. You obviously don't know shit about firefighters. Feel free to use the trailer park comment since you are incapable of any original thought. Let me take a wild guess here that the third grade was the best five years of your sorry ass life...so far.

  • @Wonkawillie77 --I don't understand why you are Racist against People who live in Trailer Parks...they are people too, and Deserve to have a nice, enjoyable Christmas. You are a very angry person who needs God in your heart! I pray you change and find your way. May the Baby Jesus bless you!

  • @gutturtle I don't understand what you have against volunteer firefighters. They would risk their lives to save even a worthless piece of shit like you.

  • @Wonkawillie77-- You obviously have a serious mental issue. I have nothing against Firefighters, quite the oposite, I have respect for how they risk their lives. Furthermore, my Uncle and Stepfather happen to be firefighters. You are doing what they call "Projecting". You are taking your hate for people less fortunate than you and projecting it onto others. Please open your heart to the Baby Jesus and watch things for you and your partner get better! Bless!

  • @gutturtle You are the one with the mental issue since you wrote that paid firefighters are better and you won't comment on your reasoning for making such a statement. I hate no one but I take great exception to narrow minded, religious nut cases like yourself who try to divert the thinking from one topic by injecting religion into a topic where it doesn't belong.

Talk about the original topic: Your comment about volunteer firefighters and keep the religious crap to yourself.

  • @Wonkawillie77 --Dear Sinner, I just said I wouldn't save one of your stupid Armadillos if it meant dying. My stepfather is a volunteer. Even he once said (at dinner) that he would rather my Uncle go to his burning house because my full time Uncle deals with it on a more regular basis. If you want to take it up with him, I'll pass your name along. I value anyone who tries to help others, paid or not. This is the 4th time Today that I have prayed to the sweet baby Jesus to clense your soul.

  • @gutturtle Don't bother, you fucking loon.

  • @Wonkawillie77 --I just want to be friends! It's the way of your savour The Baby Jesus!

  • @DrDruidKJR little man you obviously are not a firefighter. There are classes just on, "forceable entry" that little man is what it's called when u need to forceable open a door. This crew did do a great job extinguishing the fire, yes there were a few safety violations, but all firefighters are guilty of that in some point in there carrier. What matters is these guys put the fire out and no one got hurt, they just may have done it differently then someone else. Good job!!!

  • I'm gonna show this to my department... it's really good!

  • Well TheWaynelds there are several possibilities the usualy term is way off base human error or an electrical issue may be the top of the scale but you need to look where this fire started back by the shed. I would say by first look in the start of the video the bushes are already consumed and white hot smoke is riseing from that area. I would start my investigation in that area. This fire was either set or the dumbass next door was burning leaves or even tossed a cigarette in a bad spot.

  • Way to go team!!! This should be shown to every person who wants to know how it's done right!!!! For those who view this and say it's wrong or slow put on the gear and do it or shut up you'll change your tune just step up! This was a flawless fire attack!! Right on crew!!!

  • DAMN! They take their time

  • Yeah i live next to someone whos house burned yesterday. It was scary as fuck.

  • Awesome job !!!

  • What camera was used to film this?

  • @DrDruidKJunior This was a flawless fire attack and the method of entry was common practice. You are complaining about a door jam being damaged when fire is blowing through the roof and out the side of the house. This video has been used as training on how to fight a fire. You obviously are not a firefighter

  • @mabas21 nor were they.....

  • @mabas21 I agree SOP Was Followed in this Vid

  • @mabas21 If my home was on fir, i sure as hell would NOT be concerned wiht someone breaking down a door/window or anythign else.

  • @DrDruidKJunior they have to get to the middle of the fire to be able to put it out.....thats why they broke down the door

  • @DrDruidKJunior It's a lot easier to fix a broken door than replace a house. It may appear destructive but when you look at the big picture, they're doing little damage to stop total destruction.

  • @DrDruidKJunior If you are a FF your job is to put out the damn fire if you can safe things in side great if not get everyone out and put a hand line on it. You try being a fire fighter

  • @DrDruidKJunior Hey nitwit? What are they supposed to do? Wait for the owner with a key? You are a no-nothing asshole. Just shut up and let the people who know what they are doing do their job and when they are done just say: "Thank You very much!"

  • @DrDruidKJunior Your an idiot

  • if there is a fire and the door is locked kick it in the fire was at one end of the house it was good job to try to contain the fire to that end of the house

  • @DrDruidKJunior As a home owner I can understand your prospects on water damage, but it is the duty of the firefighter to make sure the fire is completely out and that no hotspots could cause it to flare back up. Under reasonable suspicions they could have vented the roof and poured water in from there, they'll cause about the same water damage as fighting from the inside.

  • @R5H4D0W i understand but some departments have SOP guildlines...this a trailer home therefore there roofs are extremely week. so probely not smart to attack fire from roof .....attacking fire from the roof is a stupid way of practice...if they would have done deffensive way of attack (fighting fire on the outside of structure)..fire would have spread more through the house.

  • @DrDruidKJunior You were worried about the door. You are obviously not a fire fighter. that was one of the best stops I've seen on video. The only thing you got right was this should be used as a training video! On how properly attack a house fire. please don't comment on what you don't understand.

  • @DrDruidKJunior My friend, this was a masterpiece of brave tactical firefighting at its best. You obviously wrote something ignorant just p.o. people. If you said that to anyone of those firefighters who fought that fire, you'd be eating soft puree'd food the rest of your life.

  • @DrDruidKJunior if you attacked the fire from the outside it would push the fire through the house and the fire would try to find another place to breath from. if you attack from the inside pushing the fire out it looses a place to go. and cut of its path from going through the rest of the house.

  • @DrDruidKJunior You always attempt to fight a fire from the inside, fighting a fire from the outside pushes the fire into the house and makes the room that was not ruined by fire and water, now ruined by fire and water. He popped a door and pushed the fire back to tha already burnt areas and saved the rest of the house, the room was fully involved, you dont shoot water in and push it further, you go in an push it out

  • @DrDruidKJunior How else were they gonna get in?

  • Nobody to feed hose? Good op. What were the other 2 guys doing?

  • Out standing job, by such a small crew. My hats off to you all..

  • Very good job of knocking down a large fire.

  • Looks like a newer modular home , unoccupied?, Probally an insurance job.

Video looks real sharp. What video format was used?

  • that is not how you pull hose off a truck, very poor. grab the ears and nozzle and then go, flake out as you go, backup grab second set of ears and go flake the line out work your way up to the nozzleman, then you're good to go.

  • I can't believe some would say a 360 isn't necessary because you can see where the fire is, there's no exposures, etcc. How about the possible victims hanging out of windows behind the house, or the possible addition behind the house that also has fire venting out of it? I don't care how few people you have, it takes less than a minute to do a 360.

  • @bigcityff8131 right about that... it just takes one to do that job. what if that building was a propane tank?

  • I just had one today. My whole street resembled a war zone. Thankfully no one was hurt and little damage.

  • Damn! That was a quick knock! No standing around, walking aimlessly, doing nothing until someone who knows what there doing does something...

  • Im actually surprised at how well that dwelling held up...from the looks of it appreas to be a pre manufactued home and from my expierences they never hold up at all

  • 360? Again. Throw your books out. Limited manpower. One story house with no exposures or cars in driveway. Quick interior attack. Fire goes out. If a battalion or chief showed up fine, but a quick attack after the size up was right on. This isn't the FDNY. Delaying the attack to walk around a one story house with no exposures with limited manpower is wasting time. Hit it quick from the inside! Nice job brothers!

  • Secure utilities? With what manpower. It looked to me that the 1st due engine had 2 guys, and the officer made the hydrant dry before walking down to grab his scba. He's already doing the work of 2 guys. No need to be tired and beat up with a scba before the fight. As was stated, never run or get off the engine with your face piece on. Visibility is hindered and your wasting air.LOVE THE AGGRESSIVE INTERIOR ATTACK thru the front door. Looks like a shed fire extended in. Roof self vented. Cake.

  • Are you a firefighter????

  • Great work! Is your department a volenteer? Very professional work! Get water on the fire and stop it's spread! Didn't see a bunch of men standing around with charged lines watching the house go up in flames. However, officer should have make a 360 degree size up before entering the building.

  • Great video and great work! I'm assuming the dwelling has been unoccupied for awhile judging by the lawn? Or did someone actually live there?

  • @ChiefPO10490 This was a vacant house and from my understanding it had been for sometime

  • @ChiefPO10490 I'd put money on someone living there. How couldnt it have caught on fire if nobody was there to accidentally start it?

  • @TheWaynelds You're trolling right?

  • @ChiefPO10490 i hate how loosely that term is just thrown around. I asked a valid question. Vacant Houses just dont sponatniously combust. Usually when there's a fire it's caused by human error or an electrical error. A vacant house has neither.

  • @TheWaynelds IF I were investigating this one? I believe I would start on the shed in the back yard or near it. The yard is over grown. Its June in the begining of the video I'm seeing the bushes on the side of the home are gone and white smoke in that area. It can be electrical if there was a short in the meter base. Could have been kids messing with the shed. No its not cut n dry there are several possibilites and some are accidental some are not this may be arson you never know...

  • my house caught on fire years ago but they managed to put it out, to this day I can still smell the smoke

  • i agree thanks for NOT PUTTING IN METAL MUSIC. It's not entertainment, someone's home is being destroyed.

i assume the house was a write off.

I don't really understand why he went inside the house instead of just fighting the flames from the outside

  • @garycalgary The amount of water and speed that a 2.5" line pushes can blow a fire across a room in a heartbeat so firefighters always attack the fire so that its pushed back into the area thats already burned. In this case, an exterior attack wouldnt give any way to do that.

  • @dominuskern it pushes the fire by pushing air, right?

  • now this is how to put out a house fire......

  • @DjPyro2010... We don't lol. It's a combination of training and feeling around. And obviously if the fire is big you can see a little better.

  • Anybody know how firefighters see in all that thick black smoke?

  • damn if that was my house i would be out there with the garden hose! oh and was a cause determined?

  • Comment removed

  • That house was totaled.

  • @ 9:00 there was a perty rainbow :D

  • Nice Vid. Just one question is this a full time department or volunteer? Fire seemed to be awfully well developed being 7 am in what seemed to be a rural area.. Nice aggresive attack with a quick knock down. Good attack... Get you some.....

  • Why did the 2nd engine arrive all sirens blasting when they are right in front of the house? Show off.

  • I'd be embarrassed if I was a New Chicago firefighter. You may be volunteers, but there's no reason you can't be as good at your job as paid dept. 2 1/2" supply lines are a thing of the past. You need to have your pack on ready to GO! If it's YOUR fire, take your OWN line in, don't hand it off like a wuss. Train like you mean it. There's no reason you guys shouldn't be able to kick ass at a fire. I hate to diss, but you gotta get it together.

  • Excellent job.

  • I've had a house fire but smaller 1.5 m high

  • fyi. If you can see and heat isn't a factor you can enter standing up. If things change inside then you can get down very easily. The crew dropped down when they got to the fire room. An exterior attack could have forced the fire down the hall way towards the incoming crew. at the very least it would have pushed the heat down on them.

  • second due engine officer is a moron... took off leaving his company, stole the other companies line and still wasnt first in the door.... idiot and also lay off the airhorn WHEN THERE IS NO ONE INFRONT OF THE ENGINE AND YOUR INFRONT OF THE HOUSE...SERIOUSLY

  • second due engine officer is a moron... took off leaving his company, stole the other companies line and still wasnt first in the door.... idiot

  • Some things could have been done better:

-standing up when entering structure, I bet after a few steps they remembered

-second line in consisted of only one man

-the first man that arrives wearing an airpack is a bit gung-ho. You can tell he wants to be first in, but thats not what happens.

-that second line, due to how the structure was involved in only a small area, could have been used as an initial exterior knockdown(before the first line entered that room, of course) or a SAFETY line

  • Tall grass and papers on the door...looks like someone got kicked out of the house. Then it catches fire....hmmmmmm

  • Good push, its nice to actually see a department get inside an make a push for once on here... good job

  • Good thing the wind was blowing east. They did a wonderful job.

  • Did you see that flaming stuff dripping from the window? That could only be one thing: Thermite. Proof positive that this was an inside job!

  • Easy Chief! lol

    Great Video man!

  • With "brothers" like the ones posting, who needs Kasich and Walker? Could things have been done differently? Sure.

Is this a great video to sit down and talk about how your Dept would handle the situation? Absolutely! Does this video warrant public ridicule by "brother" firefighters? Heck NO!

A 360? sure, but its obvious there's no major exposures, & we know it is a bedroom fire, the bravo side. Pretty cut and dry.

Venting the roof? It's vented, why put some1 in harms way to duplicate a task?

  • Looks like those guys had tunnel vision..

  • @pbrennan4728,,,,,,oh where do I start? The line was taken by a Chief because he was packed up and had other packed up firefighters there. A 360 of the building? Why? One end fully involved and advancing. No time to waste. A 2 1/2? In a ranch house? Where did you learn tactics, at the Firefighting School for Dumbasses? I hope you aren't a command or line officer or your department is in big trouble and so is the community. Oh..and you're right about sprinting. Yay!

  • wow.... first day onthe job for the pipeman? no gloves no airpack got the pipe stolen by a chief?!?!?!? and sprinting on the fire scene?!?! slow down... dont run.. hb a 360 of the building? and maybe instead of trying to be a pipe man with a second line why not a 2 1/2 and pull the one line. dont take the pipe if your an officer be a company officer do your job know your role
