  • DAT SNARE.

  • loved the time signatures!!!!!

  • As it's said in the descrption he's "just messin' around", so I don't give a damn on any mistakes this guy possibly makes. It sounds great and feels good. If you only want perfection listen to these asian freaks, where it sounds so boring clean and perfect like an advertisment for the drums or the instrument or effect thats played (no offence they got awesome skills and they are not all the same). This sounds more like passion to my ears.

  • i try funk but for real im a damn metal head and it's always sounding like metal lol

  • Timing is really good ! Keep up !Really dope funky beats at the beggining very sweet !

  • his timing is perfect.. people are retarded...

  • All these kids complaining about timing because modern music comes out of a computer and has no groove, no soul.

  • nice vid. could you tell me what ride is this?

  • @odolany looks like a zildjian A sweet ride

  • The fill at 2:20 sounds a bit crappy but all in all its nice drumming.

  • SWEET drumming!!!!

  • The timing is spot on? This is sick

  • great you've skills :D

  • ur good and the timing was 2 idk y these ppl complain about timing the timing was good

  • I was counting quite nicely up untill 0:58.

  • If you say he's out of time, you dont know what your talking about. He stomped that shit

  • klasse typ wer kanss das den nicht????haha

  • hey man at 41 seconds rights after the parradiddle fill you do a cool groove patern..can you explain that?

  • Reminds me of Carter Beauford's drumming

  • you have great technique dude

  • if you work your dinamics and timing... plus some cooler ostinatos.... you`d be ok.

  • smoke more pot kid!

  • why every note full blast? where dynamics?

  • isnt this straight otta book? its sounds very familiar.

  • @ccrichpants Yeah your noticing steve gadds 32nd note linear fill.. This guy doesnt feel the funk. But it comes with time.

  • this isn't a judging contest guys...great drumming!!

  • haha people spittin shit about this being "off tempo" are so lame. They don't even notice the feel.

  • enjoyed this very much think you need some better micros on the cymbals or perhaps the room is echoing too much - but the drumming was great and the skill - spot on liked the tricks too man . all the best

  • You Go White Boy!!! uummmm Luv you!! like to see you Beat those Skins!!!!

  • ^becoming faster and faster ^^

  • @Admirallarms Out of time with what exactly? He's playing a solo drum piece, there is nothing to go out of time with! Also his tempo is pretty solid and constant through-out.

  • this really isnt off time that much, just tap your damn foot and count while hes playing. i guess playing that isnt a straight rock beat is to fucking complicated for you people. hes stomping on the goddamn highhat the whole time and when hes not. hes playing the same temp on it. learn some theory, learn how to grove. ignorant pricks.

  • @ShineDrums27 Seriously right!?! I did the same thing and timing checked out totally fine. He went off beat on some solos but that's funk, he got right back into time perfectly.

  • Checked the timing the whole time....perfect. You guys just think he's going off time when hes just groovin boys!

  • @dantheman23312

perfect ...... most of the time but some of his fills are slightly off.

but hey its a drum solo so no one cares

  • Comment removed

  • @dantheman23312 Nahhh . He went off time ! its cool though

  • @dantheman23312 check again. There's a obvious difference between the time he counts off & around 0:55

  • @dantheman23312 I still like the drumming

  • @CrazyMusicalStuff True....just wanted to complement a good drummer thats all.

  • Best part is when you were playing on the snare...

  • he ain't have a funk soul..

  • bad timimg man ... !

  • He needs Paiste cymbals. Zildjian are muddy sounding

  • @theCABB383 well youre doing it wrong lol, drum solo any different from a guitar solo? only exhausting if you play too fast. seems most of what hes playing, a groove based solo is a nice leisurely pace. also, watch some more amatuer solos on youtube, theres a lot to be said for long solos so long as they progress nicely within the "boundaries of the feel" which this guy does nicely . :) GJ

  • I never new a drum solo to be 5:34 seconds long.... but good job

  • @TheCABB383 Really? I have seen 1 minute drum solos and 10 minute drum solos.

  • @jordanjcm I usually just see about 1 or 2 minute drum solos. I know that if i played the drums i would be exhausted after like 3 minutes depending on how i was playing.

  • @TheCABB383 most drummers can play straight for over half an hour ;) its not as bad a s you think for a person that practices often. But yes alot of it has to do with what they are playing to, like the complexity and speed, but even still once a groove is made its easy to just play for so long you dont even realize XD

  • Ok -- that fill at 02:41 was excellent!

  • I'm sure if we heard him do this today, it would be totally in the pocket.

  • I agree with Toshfunk, the beat is a little bit stiff. good, but stiff.

  • people put timing alot. some beats have off beat snare hits.

  • @ddarkness1627

The issue is that the snare hits that he's displacing are sloppy and his hi-hat and kick groove fall off each time he does them. This is a perfect example of learning advanced techniques by rushing through the basics. Also if you watch his arms, he's way too tense...he's muscling his way through stuff.

  • @TheLastPictureShow yea, when i play i try to relax as MUCH as possible. cause if your tense you start to loose the groove and then you sound shitty.

  • pholl phäääd alder weiter so

  • reminds me of steve jordan

  • Gaddism

  • some nice licks here

it speeds up alot tho, needs to loosen up, its a bit stiff.

next time more funk less speed

  • your a beast.i love the way you get into your beats....screw timing buddy, when your feelin a beat, you play what you feel.

  • Nice.

  • got the funky beats but the timing thats all the beat funky for sure keep tring bro

  • RONALDO

  • stick to rock

  • Needs a few more lessons from D chambers

  • this video should be called " gay drummer" lol

  • kinda messed up a little but its all good overall decent solo

  • fucking incredible

  • When you open the hi-hat, hit the edge then you will get much better sound.

  • nice

  • good job, check out my new video too :)

  • Nicht schlecht

  • NICE !!!!!

  • like that offbeat

    but video quality sucks ^^

  • at the start is sounds very solid and feelingless haha ut then i minute 3 it gets some flavor but it desapear few seconds later ... then da soilder snear solo wasnt that good. but its ok :) keen on drumming ese

  • cool video man.. check out my new drum video! its kinda intense funk improv

  • i wish i could play the drums like this dude, he makes it look easy....damn it, should of learn drums not the guitar.

  • to... gadd00.. Let's see your vid. This guys got a groove...... Put up or shut up. Nice groove man! Keep it up!

  • the snare and basedrum are to heavy to be funky

  • -_-

  • really nice! i liked his beats, they are groovy as hell!

  • wish i could play drums! one day i will move to a house where noone will complain about my racket all evening, and then i will learn.... :D

  • nowadays Electronic-drums are great for that =)

  • An awful lot of experts on youtube! Watch it for what it is.

  • 4 stars

love the syncopation. next time, try to add a bit more swing and it will be 5 stars. nice

  • um.. wow.. I dont care if you kept the same beat the whole time.. I think that was the point.. thats why its groovy.. he comes back, and does stay on time.. hella good man.. much better than I was expecting..

  • how can you hate on this?

  • dont front, you know you dig it

  • he put the word funky for a reason, you don't need timing in a drum solo like thiss....

  • Comment removed

  • To: Seamdrums321. You have lot to learn my friend.. You definitely need timing in a groove/fills like this. As a drummer you always need good timing. I have checked out YOUr video and unfortunately you don`t have it. My advise is that you get a good teacher..... michalex is doing a great grove/solo here. Pay attention and you will learn something.

  • hmm im by no means a professional drummer but i think that you should try playing to some music helps me out heaps and also try just playing a 1+2+3+4+ beat on the hi hat just to get your timing spot on just a couple thoughts take it or leave it up to you

  • no feelling, no groove, no funk

  • @dwet07 cocky...

  • Comment removed

  • he didn't stay in prefect time, but there was plenty of groove and feeling. You have no idea what' you're listening to.

  • solid effort though as it looks like he was just improvising the whole thing

    good work dude, groovin' beats

  • o.O

  • timing.....................

  • @spaceshi1984 this is a funk drum performance, you dumbass.

  • @spaceshi1984 The timing was right. He was just changing the way he plays a beat within one, which is not the easiest thing.

  • ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Much to like, but the time is not too good...

  • O_O...awesome...

  • Yamaha Stage Custom :D i use these in school love em to bits great kit. Nice playing

  • who do i feel that its harder then the though work it looks like...

  • great jam!!!

  • Niiiice.

  • Awesome grooves at times :)

  • he needs to be funked

  • Y he needs floor toms? He used them only 2 times... Just for beauty? :))

  • I can understand your point...still, let's face it - a drumset without at least 1 floor tom (or hanging floor tom) would look partially naked...I can enjoy the "beauty" of a set-up (even if pieces are not used)...in fact when I had an acoustic set (I have e-drums now), I used to go down to my basement just to look at my drums, and then (without even playing) I would go back upstairs...also, some drummers just do less fills...anyway, I can still understand your point...

  • u got good skillz, the groove is nice, but ur speeding it up a little bit as u start to add more complicated fills nd stuff. when u play funk its gotta b chill nd relaxed, u dnt need to put complicated fills, to keep a groove the fills hav to match the groove that ur playing, dnt just try to put crazy fills where they dnt belong. but regardless, u got skillz keep it up

  • Very skilled at points. Relaxed as well. Nice work.

  • Great groove, indeed my style!

  • so FUNKY!

  • hot beat dude. would love to throw some bass over that.

  • Lol, I did, it sounded sweeeeet!

  • Logical isn't always better. Have to admit I didn't watch till the end of this video though. It did indeed feel a bit awkward sometimes. At around 1:50 something goes seriously wrong. I liked the first bit of this solo though. Can't say you suck, guess we just have different tastes ;) which is only healthy.

  • good job!! :D

  • 1. good drumming

    2. sexy arms ;') ahaha

  • I'm a bassist playing funk, soul, gospel and jazz, a little rock and I would SO love to jam with you xD

  • Nice job. Only thing I would say is feel it more. Anyone can learn and play the right beat with technique but it sounds so much better when you're really feeling the groove.

  • at the beggining it sounded extremely firmiliar but i cant think of the song that it reminds me of

  • Nice work... K Customs also: oooooooh =D

  • dude we gotta jam man!

  • nice work dude. enjoyed it. By the look of it you posted it a while ago. so now i'm sure your kicking ass even more.

  • of course you can hear the one... Unless you DON'T know how to listen to drums. Was that a skeleton or just made up? Plenty shaky on the individual timing, switching between grooves and on chopsy licks, just too much hesitation and maybe not enough time with a metronome in general, a problem overlooked by many of us impatient drummers too eager to take that time. Not that I'm any better, but constructive criticism always helped more than figurative dick-sucking.

  • very nice =]

  • man that funky!

  • Very good, thanks for posting

  • funky..

  • your 15? do you even know what funk music is man? to me, personally i hear bootsy collins or like.. an altered earth wind and fire that's ALL percussion lol, but iunno.. maybe that's just me wanting to hear it

  • you dont even know where the One was.

  • Thanks, I'll groove with your jam with my bass.

    GBU bro!!

  • it looks like he's playing on a yamaha absolute kit.

  • or a stage custom maybe?

  • actually you are both wrong. Its a mapex of some sort, you can see by the badges and the lugs lol

  • Hot Beat ... HOT Dude !!

  • This is funk, Red Hot Chili Peppers isn't funk anymore.

If you want to hear the most famous funk drum break listen do James Brown's Funky Drummer.

You can tell this guy gets his influences from James Brown.

  • WE WANT THE FUNK!

  • awesome video man!!

What drum kit do you use?

  • positive

  • i loooove yur fills

  • same :D

  • holy fuck this just reminded me that i have to play a fukin funk solo tomorrow for school oops should probs give that a start lol

  • man your good nice arms xx

  • Drum solo. Not funk song. Jesus.

  • DAMN!! thats hot

  • wqow shit ur ripped

  • RE CABEZAAA

  • Whats your time?????

  • Sorry dude........total whiteboy. REAL FUNK is keeping the bass drum on the 1 and 3. You can play additional notes, but the bass needs to hit on 1 and 3. Odd times is not funky, only white people think so. Funk is supposed to make the body move,...you cant dance to sporadic beats.

  • haha listen to some tower of power ...

david garibaldi doesnt stay to this 1 and 3 bassdrum thing, too

  • what is odd in this video?

  • agreed!

  • nice dude i like the linear aspects of this a lot

  • Really loved your work man...it lollops along at times but has a wonderful groove thang....I loved it !!

  • wicked beats man =)

  • for the first couple of minutes or so, i was like ok, ok, dudes nasty, then around 3:50, u went beast mode, i like it a lot, ur style is awesome. good job man!

  • That part from 1:39 ish to a about 2:10 is sick! It sounds out of beat, but I assure every other spectator, it's so in beat it's funk genius!

    Well done, mate :)

  • Funky!

    Nice work.

  • work on your timing

  • yo i think u should understand that it is in time and off beats can be "in time" too learn rythmes before u acuse someone of something they have not done wrong

  • You understand "syncopation" right? Think about that then question his timing.

  • funk don't believe in timing

  • i gotta agree. Everyones trying to show off how much they know about drumming by yelling at you about this, but your right, he does need to work on his timing. Theres a difference between syncopation and sloppiness, so you other guys need to get your head out your ass, step back, and just look at the basics. Compare his beats to more solid drummers, and youll notice right away. Great drumming either way though.

  • Reminds me of Steve Gadd

  • The drumming is cool but I got bigger guns.

  • xD who cares about this?

  • man ur prolly the best funk drummer i seen on youtube, not including famous drummers, but ur awsome man.

i bet u got those guns for all the practice u needed for that haha!

i also like the way how u have that drum n bass style fills. good on ya keep it up.

  • nice guns =]

  • Sounds like the amen break to me. I love it.

  • i like it

  • Hey..Really enjoyed that...Great to listen to and a great feel...Keep drumming...!!

  • Awesome!

  • nice!

  • that was impressive as the snare drum goes. you have a little touch of jazz and it kicks ass
