According to Google, Purify was James real name, while his cousin was Robert Dickey; they both went by Purify.....I like this version of Shake a Tail Feather
just for a little bit of info.... a version of this was on the Casino Classics label 'B' side with Reparata & The Delrons with 'Panic' and Gerri Granger was on 'A' side with 'I Go To Pieces (Everytime...)
This is a post for anyone who knew these two men personally. In regard to the photo, which one is james( or bobby)? I am doing a history page for them and want to know for sure before I write their names under the photo. Please help me!
I have been looking for this version for ever. Thanks for the post. I'm with you Paul51, I am happy to help if I have the answer to a question. Some people are just morons.
ah come on, don't you think he van just search with google for "Shake a Tail Feather" and then see for himself.. Instead of letting us do the work.
see wikipedia:
"Shake A Tailfeather" is a song originally recorded in 1963 by the Chicago-based group The Five Du-Tones. A 1967 version by James & Bobby Purify reached #25 on the charts.
tiius, if it was such a bother for you, why even comment.? On other channels / videos, if I see a question that I now the answer to, I always respond, help that person out. Guess I'm just different than you.

I like all three versions, myself. Unusual, because its rare that I like all cover versions of the same song.

My 2nd favorite by them. "Let Love Come between Us," which I own, is my favorite.

Ike & Tina Turner as well as the Blues Brothers also covered this classic song.
James & Bobby Purify hit #25 with this song in 1967. Their biggest hit was I'm Your Puppet,
It peaked at #6 in 1966
