I hope you can help me with my profire 610. I installed the necessary driver, but when I go to it it tells me that no device was found on my computer. Its not working at all with the driver nor the recording program. My computer doesnt have any firewire inports, so I got a firewire to usb converter, if that makes a difference.
this product sucks.ive gotit new.first i dident use the microphone line in 1 and when ive startet to use it got broken.time to time ghets stoked and i need to switch off and on and today is fucked up forever this hardwear is not recognize enymore.slere wont fix this for me why???thanks absolute musik solution uk

I've had it for a year and a half and it's worked a whopping five times in the hundreds of instances I've attempted to engage it in the production process... what a waste of money! I'll never buy M-Audio ever again... they have next-to-zero customer support, too... go figure... my next headache with this POS is to figure out how to sell it and not be out hundreds of dollars...
@kidakaria my problem was the driver i am running win7 64bit they finally updated the driver a few months ago and it work very good on sp1. but now i am running sp2 and this shit keeps crashing and i am not wait 1 or 2 years for a new driver
If you go to M-Audio forum you will see that there are some problems with the driver for windows machines. I gues this problems were reported more than 1 year ago and still no solution... maybe a hardware problem??? check the M.-audio forum for more detail's and to see if there are already a solution.
It's incase you want to integrate midi-capable external device, such as a keyboard-less rack mount synth or sequencer with your computer. You use it to send the midi notes from your DAW into your synth. It is also used for the syncing of midi devices and DAWs by sending a Midi Clock or Midi Timecode, allowing them to run integrated on the same tempo and time signature.

@Omrie69 this item will work great with Abelton Live 7 and offers multiple inputs, outputs, and expandability. There are smaller interfaces that will be more portable if you wish to perform with this in your live show.
Interfaces like the Profire are made in a very large variety with different options. You should answer a few questions so you can determine what will be the best fit.
1. How many things will be recorded at the same time?
2. Will the device need to be portable?
3. Based on how I am expanding my work space, will I need more inputs or outputs later?
4. Would I like to use usb or firewire?
Questions like these will save you time and money to get what you need.
@MOTORMOUTH2009 i do not recommend mixing with headphones only....u shud always use studio speakers to mix and then try ur final mixes on headphones earphones and car speakers. n pissing off ur neighbors shudnt b much of a problem because mixing really shudnt b done on high volume

I have this soundcard its pretty good, what it will do is give you a fuller, higher quality sound then a builtin soundcard, it has two mic preamps which you need if you want to amplify the signal coming from a mic into your computer, you can have multiple ins and outs which is good for instrument recording and necesary for Djing

i need help, i cannot hear any sound from my studio spearkes but when i opne pro tools i do hear everything i record any mp3, also everytime i plug in the headphone i still can hear music from the speakers and not from the headphones
bought this interface because i was on a budget and seeing how digidesign limits pro tools users, i went to m-audio. the last thing i wanted was to supply digi with ANY more money for their horrible interfaces. HOWEVER, my 610's 1st pre-amp went out on me right after my warranty. at this point i'm trying to save the pennies and go for a logic pro/apogee combo next time. the only benefit of this 610 for me is midi capability and 96k mixing at home. thats IT.

Damn man, nice set up! I love Ableton Live, and I can't imagine how good it could be to work with a APC (even the 20 lol)!
Do you know how good are the pre amps of the 610?
I know that they are from the Octane, but I never heard them...
I heard the DMP3, which I liked, so the pre amps of the 610 are comparable with the DMP3?
I want to use a tube mic (like CAD Trion 8000) with a clear pre amp (of Profire 610 for example).
