Blacks Diesel Performance built the black truck as a daily driver and Bruce (owner of the red truck) owns a machine shop that makes parts for common rails (that we use on all the trucks we build). Everybody is always bitching about Mopar transmissions like they're some horrible shit. I've never had a bad experience with any mopar transmission I've ever dealt with, auto, manual, truck, car, 2wd, 4wd. If either of the top comments have had bad experiences with Mopar transmissions it's because they were either very, very poorly maintained or the transmission hadn't been built to match a modified motor.
@mj20042 I drove a bone stock 2002 ram 2500 with 250'000 kms for work, it was a company vehicle. No transmission problems at all. Then when I left the company an went to work with another guy he said his 96 ram 5.9 has had the transmission rebuilt 3 times in one year. He was running a 6 inch lift and 37's...
@mj20042 I know guys that abuse 727 TorqueFlite transmissions in derbies, and i plan on doing the same. the problem with the newer ones im told is there is a screw on the inside that has to be loosened 1/4 of a turn, and that takes away the problem. My 96 1500 sport has the same trans and as far as i know its all stock with no rebuilds, and 185,000 on the clock. I know the old styles are bulletproof! and the old and new (like my ram's) are exactly the same looking, minus the computer controls.
what would be unexpected is if this was two ford vehicles that made it across without that shitty 6.0 PSD blowing apart on the way down the track... or if it was two chevy trucks and they made it down the track without demolishing a tie rod on that shitty IFS they use on heavy duty trucks...

The tranny they put behind those cummins diesels simply cant handle the torque, but it doesnt stop there, my dad has also had to replace a tranny on his 1500 98 ram. Trust me, i like mopar just as much as the next guy but all manufacturers have their Achilles heal. In my experience, chevys have bad starters, fords have bad everything, and dodges have bad tranny's. Ive always preferred dodge, but they do have a flaw.

@JU5TBL4ZE haha firstly he didnt put it in at all, the truck was under warranty and got replaced at the dealership. secondly, how does what i drive have any thing to do with what i am knowledgable about? Did you think that maybe i drive a subaru and a ram? i wouldnt be the first person on the planet to have multiple vehicles would i? Knowledge of one subject doesnt displace knowledge of another subject... but nice try being cunning.

@codynieman You are obviously not knowledgable about mopars because what you said about their transmissions is absolute bullshit. If it was under warranty they would replace it, but not four times... @JU5TBL4ZE uh no thanks i think i'll stay, what i said was in no way false. The tranny they put behind those cummins diesels simply cant handle the torque, but it doesnt stop there, my dad has also had to replace a tranny on his 1500 98 ram. Trust me, i like mopar just as much as the next guy but all manufacturers have their Achilles heal. In my experience, chevys have bad starters, fords have bad everything, and dodges have bad tranny's. Ive always preferred dodge, but they do have a flaw.

@codynieman my dad replaced the tranny is in 94 chevy so that make chevy transmissions junk? Absolutely false, but you are right every manufacturer has it's flaws. The whole point is the company learns from their complaints therefore enhancing their flaw.
