  • hey, proof that they are still better than jusin bieber, and that we all need to get duck's ass haircuts

  • The choreography leaves much to be desire. :P

But I still love Jan & Dean. :)

  • It's kind of cornball but they did have talent. Their collaborations with Brian Wilson has them at their best - my opinion and what's that worth? Do they deserve to be in the Hall of Fame? I think so. Dead Man's Curve is enough to put them in.

  • Sorry, but this tune aint gettin it! I am glad they didn't stop experimenting with their sound. The future was much more promising for these talented guys.

  • @1qaz2wsx3edc5753 Well everybody has to start somewhere--didn't the Beach Boys have a similar act at Disneyland at one time? It was pretty corny too I bet. But clean, and very popular.

  • I remember the Sammy Salvo version

  • I think this is on American Bandstand (ABC) September, 1961, but the set looks kind of elaborate for Bandstand. Anybody know for sure?

  • Awesome! Never heard this one by them before. I love it!!!

  • White guys can't dance...

  • @lehnrik .... What a totally ignorant statement. So maybe Jan and Dean aren't the worlds greatest dancers. So what? They had many hits and brought joy to millions around the world. You're from Sweden!! You putting down YOUR OWN???

  • @likecrazydaddy It looks like this was early on in thier career so of course they inproved . Still they showed real talent and wrote and sang great songs that were hits. They also were collage students while writting and recording so I call that INSPIRTING. . Any way lots of mega stars start out with not the most greatest song or routine BUT thier matrial and routines inprove and they SHINE. Well, they SHINED and gave me and millions great memories. Rock on Dean. RIP Jan, you are missed.

  • I love Jan & Dean, but........in this case, it misses the mark; the Creshendos version is much better (This is too slow for my tastes)

  • Crescendos-Oh julie. but this is a bit uptempo. fun cover ***** five stars

  • i totally agree!

  • you don't many live performances here by Jan and Dean

  • Love it... I was named after the first release of this song by The Crescendos in 1957. I mention it on my myspace comedy site and its often played when I've done radio interviews because of that. ;-) Love hearing Jan and Dean sing it.

xox, Funny Bunny love and laughter,

    Julie McCullough

  • And I love the Funny Bunny! She rocks da howse! - S.P.

  • Cover of the original by the Cresendos.

  • whoo boy, we really are showing our age here when we remember them! hahha,,but the Cresendos were good, no doubt about it. We use to call it "boys room" singing because thats the only place our voices sounded good!

  • Jan and Dean, doing a song the "old" way, before TV producers allowed rock and rollers to do their thing their way. I love the expressions on the girls' faces::: WTF !! "who are these guys?" Live audio reproduction was primitive so songs had to be lip-synced and the old, huge cameras couldn't be moved around very fast, nor did they have auto-focus, so performers had to stay in a small area and not move much, hence the stilted look.

  • Haha so true about the girls faces!!

  • Jan & Dean belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

They created so much and had a great sound to every song they did.

Jan & Dean were a part of the early surf sound that was made even more famous by the Beach Boys.

They had classics in the 1950's and '60's.

    They had many hits.

Jan & Dean will be even more loved as the years go by.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • I like their dance..it fits the piano bar tune...very innocent.

  • vive ces deux gigolos!!

  • These guys were innovative and did help create the surf sound and I really liked their music.I must say though I'm glad I never saw them trying to entertain. They are just plain terrible. It's hillarious. I'm quite sure in their later years they cringed when seeing themselves like this. Or maybe they just had a few laughs...all the way to the bank.

  • haha they got way better in the mid 60's

  • Ill bet that the wax in their ears is white!!

  • those chicks are hot! lol!

  • Love these very early songs by J&D!!

  • A couple of ol' song-and-dance men!

  • Knowing the impact that these two had on music as a whole back in the late 50's and early 60's. Can anyone imagine what success Jan and Dean would have had if Jan hadn't been critically injured. You think the Beach Boys had success? The Beach Boys owe all of their success to the REAL creators of the beach wave music. Jan and Dean and the Beach Boys are irreplaceable!

  • very true, but brian wilson is a genius when it came to hamrone and musical creations..

  • I have to agree Jonny. I love both groups. Jan and Dean belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. If they are not nominated and enshrined, I truly believe that the RR Hall of Fame is nothing more than a Sham!

  • @pitts40 I agree. I think Jan Berry would be a well-established record producer & arranger today if it hadn't been for his accident.

  • @galoon Actualy he would have been a Dr. He was pre med, 2ed year at the time horrable accident. But super super talented he was MAYBE there would have been a chance that music would have won out over being a Dr but I think he really had his mind set on medicine......but the aciddent did happen so we can only guse.

  • Terrific!

  • Someone should clean theseold clips up. This one like a few other early Jan and Dean ones needs the contrast turned up.

  • Oh my gosh how sweet! Thanks for posting this!

  • Wow, what a rare clip. Thank you very much!
