The ancient's monologues in FS1 are recounting the rise and fall of the Ancients' civilization, and that they conquered everything in their path once they discovered how to use subspace travel to reach distant galaxies, and were then systematically eliminated by the Shivans. They apparently believe the genocide was because of their own relentless imperialism...that viewpoint being entirely accurate is difficult to say.
I haven't seen this cutscene in forever. Every time I try to view it, it freezes up and won't play. All the others play fine though. I think I need a new disk or something maybe?
Another beautiful and atmospheric monologue with mournful and all too fitting music as the Ancients were scattered throughout the galaxy and the destruction of what was once a mighty empire destroyed by the Shivans.
