  • Aren't planes not allowed to fly over mid/downtown since 9/11? I'm probably remembering something wrong. Whatever.

  • @ariwcharles They weren't for a while. The ban was lifted in 05-06-ish.

  • UN headquarters at 0:23

  • I am from Moscow and I wanna go in this place, its a Second Moscow

  • @RuoNui ha ha - You wish. NYC doesn't look like Moscow, doesn't resemble Moscow in any way, it is nothing like Moscow. If You wanted to just troll around joke's on You :) ) lol

  • Amazing. La Guardia is one of my favorite approaches!

  • Whenever we were landing or taking off, the pilot always told us to shut off all electronic devices - so unfortunately I couldn't film the landing or take off like I really wanted to

  • awesome!

  • And the twin towers???...

  • Great view of a place I NEVER want to visit! Looks like HELL to me!

  • It's beautiful but i prefer rio de janeiro in Brazil.

  • The landing at ohare beats this. The chicago skyline is awesome from the sky.

  • i live in ATL now and they try to compare it to NYC, but it will never compare EVER !!!

  • as a child i used to feel sooo proud of being from NYC, when I used to fly in and see the whole city....

  • every time i land at la gaurdia i see a home depot..

  • Watch LGA ground tracks at passur daht com while listening to LGA radio at liveatc daht nett. This is a good way to learn the nuts and bolts of local traffic conditions. Sorry for the dumb links. Youtube forbids real links.

  • Replying to Berzerker204... Traffic from the south or southwest headed to LGA when Expressway 31 is in effect are funneled in line over NJ, then come over Staten Island, Brooklyn and make the turns for rwy31. All the while, the controllers have wide discretion on how they fine tune things like ground track, spacing and so on. Something unexpected, maybe a sudden wind shift, caused them to have your flight go well north of the city just to turn around and go south for a rwy31 expressway approach

  • WHAT AIRLINE?

  • Generally speaking, only traffic from the north get to fly this approach into LGA. That is, flying southerly high above the city, while descending into a left turn and easing into the expressway pattern used when runway 31 is in use. This video shows the approach nicely with good clarity and no shaking.

  • @distar97 I've flown in from Atlanta using this approach, it all depends on which runway is in use.

  • Hey look Shea stadium was empty... surprise!

  • can't wait visiting New York

  • i saw my building at 1:15

probably i was home that day and annoyed that some airplane was making noise while i was trying to watch tv.

    awesome. thanks!

  • Average Landing for Airbus...AWESOME CAMERA WORK THOUGH!

  • It's funny how small Central Park looked in this video...! The park is huge from ground level!

  • This view it's amazing great video thank for share, i got my video landing to Miami Airport.

  • I Love this landing, really smooth and great views!! I wanna be back in NYC

  • check out the landing form cockpit view in vid response

  • Thank for this video now I need to take flight before the end of the 2011..

  • NY looks like a lego city from the airplane.

  • Thumbs up for Shea Stadium at 4:00 !

  • i dont clap when the bus driver pulls up at a stop, i didnt do it when we went to nj on a plane either. or spain etc.

  • What is the difference between a landing and an "Amazing" landing?

  • @artemus21 the view was probably awesome! thats how it's amazing Lol

  • This is an awesome video.

  • I love N.Y! this is the best entry to the big apple...

  • Best Airports in New York/Newark Area

    1.JFK

    2.Newark Liberty

    3.LaGuardia

  • @Speed7743 They're the only major airports in that area so.....Teterboro & Stewart are really the only others near.

  • its a new city tour ... not landing lol

  • i love this and when people clap for the plane landing. the pilot got you home safe and sound people! you havta clap when you land!

  • This has gotta be the most spectacular visual approach to any US city. It's amazing, other than landing in Los Angeles at night, I can't see any other arrival being this awesome.

  • @phillyslasher You're absolutely correct although I like flying into LaGuardia when they go up the Hudson and the skyline of Manhattan is on the right. It's especially awesome on a real clear day when one can view virtually all of NYC, the Sound the ocean on out to Long Island and see the mass of skyscrapers. That's why I love flying into LaGuardia.

  • Nice vid

  • added to my favorites..thank.s

  • New York fucking City! ;P

  • awesome video!!! ;)

  • Beautiful video, T4P !!!

  • Now you know how the 9/11 victims were looking at in the planes.

  • wow..how smooth

  • this is for DaGR8Twon. ur a punk u aint got any respect for the staff that get u to the airport safe. thats why people clap because they landed the plane safe. scum bag

  • Chicago looks much better day or night

  • Brilliant, simply!!

  • If the plane was coming in from Atlanta, would we see the same view as they did? Or would we see another view? And if so, what are we likely to see?

  • @jsrf Yes you would see the same thing, just will not bank over midtown

  • awsome vid !!!

  • Airbus A320/19?

  • @TheMPSScissors Looks like a 319. USairways or United. leaning tord US

  • @contrails15

Yes I say U.S aswell thanks

  • darn good video!

  • 4:20 Thumbs up for the 7 train!

  • I fly in and out of LGA a lot, always love when this approach is used

  • @KOwithapillow It's called the ExpressWay Visual on runway 31. Very unique Approach

  • ppl clap on the plane when it lands because it means thank god we made it safe nothing happen nothing went wrong thank go for jesus we made it safely thats y ppl clap

  • This video made me want to play Sim-City for some reason.

  • Sounds and looks like an airbus. Thanks for posting.

  • Nice vid but what's so amazing? Perfectly normal landing.

  • @sjtom57 it's the view of NYC that's amazing, not the actual landing, thought that was obvious

  • @sjtom57 I'd actually go further and say that was an excellent landing

  • seeing new york from above gives you goose bumps.

  • Of course, you are not supposed to be running any electronic devices during the descent, right? : )

  • amazing view from the air. Glad you had your video camera and used it. Thanks!

  • Without a doubt one of the world's most exciting approaches. I have often thought on this approach that the pilot might as well just stab the left wingtip into the ground and pivot around it!

  • this flight path is possible post 9/11?

  • really cool. i flew this same approach a few years back coming from boston. and as a bonus there was a Mets game in progress when we flew past

  • seat#??

  • Landing at LGA is disturbingly similar to what it must be like to land on an aircraft carrier. Me no likey!

  • anyone see flushing mall?

  • Amazing shot of the city.

  • Expressway visual runway 31

  • Very Nice Vid:)

  • Seeing one landing into LaGuardia as it flew over me under 100 feet as I am driving westbound on the Grand Central Parkway reminds me of Hong Kong old Kai Tak Airport... :-)

  • THERE'S MY HOUSE!! @1:00-1:40

  • I dislike it even more WHEN PEOPLE can't spell.

  • where was this flight coming from?

  • i hate wen ppl clap on the plane wen it lands

  • @DaGR8Twon Lol i know right... i think they do it when the landing was exceptionally good like this one, but still it's really annoying

  • @DaGR8Twon why?

  • @DaGR8Twon They clap cause the pilot got them there. But getting them there is their job? :L

  • @DaGR8Twon meany i love that i am a pilot almost in a few years

  • @DaGR8Twon

why? because there just happy they got there safe and to give the pilot appreciation that he or she landed them safely. what if something wnt wrong, then what? u die helo!!!!!!!!

  • @DaGR8Twon I hate it when people can't spell. People clap because the pilots do a great job.

  • @DaGR8Twon haha it makes me laugh :)

  • @DaGR8Twon i didnt hear anyone clap?

  • @DaGR8Twon lol its in new york duh!

  • @DaGR8Twon if you had the same skill and the same training hours as the pilot that lands your plane without killing you then ppl would clap at you too. dont be jealous.

  • @DaGR8Twon You hate when people happily show cheer and thanks? You hate positivity? I can understand thinking the clapping is pointless from your perspective or that landing a plane isn't thrilling, but hating people being happy? You should rethink your priorities.

  • @DaGR8Twon take it you go on planes alot and are suffering from diminishing returns. else you need to give an explanation for your random hate.

  • @DaGR8Twon They're happy they didn't crash i guess....lol

  • @DaGR8Twon "i hate wen ppl clap on the plane wen it lands"

I hate when people clap for anything.

  • @AltRage I hate when people hate

  • @DaGR8Twon I only find it funny. Especially when ppl clap b4 the plane is fully stopped. I have no fear of flying, I actually love it, but I feel ironic when ppl who r pissing n their pants clap b4 the plane is fully stopped because I think: "hey guys, it ain't over till it's over. y r u clapping?"

  • "welcome to New York" goooooosebumps. I wanna hear this asap in real life :)

  • A wonderful video, thank you. Over 25 years ago I lived in Flushing, Queens, and many times I would see planes on that same approach when I would be driving on the Van Wyck Expressway. It's nice for once "seeing" that same approach from the air.

  • @raycal515 AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! DUDE THAT WAS AWESOME! THNX FOR SHARING!

  • @raycal515 The name Flushing in all likelihood comes from the Dutch name Vlissingen.

  • @raycal515 I, too, used to live in Flushing for more than 1 year (Nov 2008 - Dec 2009) and everyday I took no.7 subway train to Manhattan (took me right to Time Square @ 42 St/Broadway). And then I would either walk or take subway no.1 to Columbus circle.I love the area and it was very good memory to live that city. I hope to visit there again soon. Great city to live and visit. Tx 4 sharing!

  • remarkable

  • Looking something explode at the begining of this video haha

  • thats my base baby!!

  • cool how you can still see the skyline from that far way!

  • Ahhh, good ol Shea Stadium! I've been on flights that have made similar approaches to LGA but that turn over Manhattan was definitely sweet!

  • @capazopenguin It's safe to turn on electronic devices that are not emitting radio signals, such as a camera. Cabin crews tell the passengers to turn off electronic devices so when there's an emergency, passengers can focus to their safety first.

  • @capazopenguin go sue them. moron -_-

  • @capazopenguin did you also know that alot of people dont care about that ?

  • 私も早く"Welcome to New York"って言われたい(*´艸`)

  • What type of plane were you in? 767?

  • @CASHMONEY0712 this is definately not a 767, probably an a320 or an a319

  • @Bangorpilot yeah i thought i saw winglets but it is probably a320

  • Amazing Flusing park and shea staduim 3:55

  • I have flown into La Guardia hundreds of times, but have never flown that pattern. Unusual approach coming in southbound over Manhattan. Nice piece of camera work.

  • Love landing at upfront LaGuardia...the plane takes you on a courtesy flight over Manhattan for a superlative view

  • Great. Where were the skyskeapers?

  • where was your flight from?

  • NIKKO

  • GTA

  • looks so quiet and peaceful from the sky...but from ground level its sooooo much going on...<3 NY =)

  • isn't it illegal to fly through Manhattan?

  • @rocker78able

    at a certain altitude yes.

  • this was the "Expressway Visual approach" into runway 31 @LaGuardia..loving it!!

  • iam FLYING TO NEW YORK CITY THIS SUMMER FIRST TIME, WHEN THE LADY SAID WELCOME TO NY CITY I FEEL SO MUCH EXITEMENT!

  • awesome video!! :)

  • Great clear video. Thank you for posting! You should fly more so you can post more :P

  • Great clear video. Thank you for posting!

  • Amazing

  • The skyline looks so empty without the towers:'( first time I saw it without the towers I cried a little:'( no joke! Just feels like a part is always missing with them gone:'(

  • airline?

  • Great views. Great camera work. Thanks for posting.

  • looks like u got the best seat on the plane, amazing views, new york city looks tiny!!

  • Fucking cool as can be man....love it

  • I don't recall the walk from the globe to Shea being that long...lol

  • excellent! and nice views of the old Shea Stadium..

    good video!

  • I thought directly over manhattan was a no-fly zone....

man I wonder if this happens every day?

Great video by the way.5 Stars....

  • Nice steady camera work. Feels & looks like we're on the plane with you!

  • 1-You did an excellent job of recording.

2-The captan did a great jobs of landing smoothly. I fly frequently from NY-Fl and I've had some very tough landing. Thats a tough angle to land in when he made that final turn. I looked like he wasnt going to make it.

  • Good good good. Well done. I really enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing.

  • beautiful

  • wow, great city and interesting video, thnks.

  • This is amazing. Thanks for sharing :)

  • Right over Manhatten...neat!

  • too bad our weather wasn't so great on my first trip to New York which was about 3 weeks ago. Our landing at LaGuardia was pretty scary from high winds and the view wasn't great either . Oh well... hopefully next time :)

  • @elcorazondelamor

and we've had a very unusually weird winter too here in NY..my landings into NY (JFK or LaGuardia) are usually great with excellent views of this city. Hopefully next time you fly in, you'll get a good view and landing..cheers!

  • It is an A321

  • Nice... if the pilot announces an approach to Runway 31 and you are seated on the left side of the plane... your eyes will soon have candy! Remember - the runway they land on cooresponds to the direction of the wind - a NW wind or something close would make that the active runway.

  • it looks like a a321 , big jumbos like 747s,767s,a330s,a340s dont land here, this is like for small jets , theirs barley any jets that cross any oceans alot of the airlines in LGA are national based airlines , only airlines i know go across oceans are the ones that head down towards the caribeen , but all the other airplanes all those jumbos you see that come from japan, austrilla, south america, europe, india , the middle east , all those planes that take more than 5 hours to get to nyc go to JFK.

  • Omg!!! Almos imagine my 1st view live of the Chrysler Building!!!

Almost had a stroke watching this!!! LOL

  • That was also a beautiful slip-in on the bank to final.

  • is this PIA?

  • Wow, an approach to New York doesn't get any better than this.

  • you were flying my old home in Queens.

  • haha i could see my house in 3:30

  • the plane lands at 5:00 min

  • I haven't been on a plane in a few years. They always announced "Turn off all electronic equipment" during take offs and landings. Has that changed?

  • i think i'm gonna rebook my flight, from jfk to la guardia ^^

  • Put in Flying into LaGuardia, or LGA Approach over the Hudson to view best approach on clear day for skyline views of Manhattan, NYC. That will give viewers best view into a NY airport with the hook over The Bronx or Westchester suburbs for 22 runway. Last min can be harrowing for travelers if not familiar with the way in just feet over the water. Just think of 8.2 million ppl in our largest, most exiting city.

  • Answer to Deino-Yes, the UN Complex is evident at 0:20, the white sided, thin building that resembles a domino on the East River. Central Park was not featured in video because vid started south of the Park, but can see in distance at 2:00 very slightly in front of Hudson River. It's a runway 31 approach over Flushing Bay from a northern city like Boston, Buffalo or Canada. Not 4 approach, that would bring you over rooftops of Queens. 22 is best on a clear day. Fly up Hudson and city on right!

  • was it spirit airlines?

  • what airline was this and what kind of airbus was it?

  • wheres central park?

  • i think it was runway 4

  • what runway did u land on?

  • @MyPilot747

By the looks of the video, I am 99.7% sure the aircraft came in from the north, turned around and flew the expressway visual 31
