Thanks. It's not too hard to get Gnome to look like OSX, it has a similar look by default, I think. By the same token, KDE 4 is similar to Vista, esp. the way the new Kicker works. I like KDE, I just haven't got it as smooth as I have Gnome.
I started off on Ubuntu. After the 8.10 upgrade went badly for me and I had to re-install, I decided to expand my horizons. Mint is close enough to, and a bit more polished than Ubuntu, IMO.

yeah i tried kde, but i just hate it , i find gnome or xfce more easy to use and does not hog your system like kde
