I'm pretty sure that there's more to that information. R. Kelly was listed as a producer because he demo'd it first but Joe didn't know that it was recorded. There's a second song on that Joe album that was originally created by R. Kelly also. Joe did an interview that's on Youtube and he mentioned how he recorded the song and how R. Kelly was involved.

@seand67 I partly agree with you. Joe is not with Jive any more though, he signed with Universal in 2010. I wouldn't say his career didn't take off. Some artist will never be as big as others, but that doesn't mean they're not just as good, a lot of promotion politics as you said. Joe is not just a nobody, he's world wide, he didn't win but he was nominated for 7 Grammys. That speaks volumes.

Both versions written and produced by?.....R Kelly, there's your answer. Joe is an accomplished artist in his own right though. Why else would Kellz be writing and producing for him?

@RecordStr8 Right, but Joe's career NEVER took off because he's on the same record label as R.Kelly. Jive Records will always promote Kelly first and foremost. Joe should've left and signed with Sony, Arista, Def Jam, etc.

@seand67 I partly agree with you. Joe is not with Jive any more though, he signed with Universal in 2010. I wouldn't say his career didn't take off. Some artist will never be as big as others, but that doesn't mean they're not just as good, a lot of promotion politics as you said. Joe is not just a nobody, he's world wide, he didn't win but he was nominated for 7 Grammys. That speaks volumes.

@RecordStr8 I'm not saying Joe's career was a failure, BUT being on the same label with Jive's 'cash cow' doesn't help matters. I guess Joe isn't thuggish or raunchy enough for Jive to promote....;~)

RK sounds like its coming more from the heart, guess it would since he wrote it. I fell in love with Joe's version from the video. Seem like he was throwing some bonafide d*ck all day long in that video, especially those pushups in the intro, he was getting ready to handle his business. Joe's vocals sound better, It takes a talent to perform a hit song, even with someone else directing it. Joe put this one on the map. I love em both and either one could park his shoes under my bed anytime!

Wow!!! I have never heard R's version and I love both these guys, and this is one of my favorite Joe songs but I have to say that vocally R. Kelly takes it, but Joe's version sounds better musically and overall. But I love R's vocals on this more than I like Joe's. Thanks for posting this.

I don't know what every1z arguing about. No one can match Joe's smooth style, and nobody can do Kelz. Both styles are sick. Why does someone always have to be better? :S

I like BOTH versions of the song, but since I have to choose one............ It has to be Joe's. That is only because R. Kelly laid the track first, found the flaws he saw in the song, then fixed them so he could produce a better song for Joe. That shows me how much of a professional R. Kelly really is.

Joe's version ''sounds better'' only because R. Kelly recorded a demo and gave Joe a cleaner production. Listen to the instrumental of both versions. Joe's voice lacks UMPH and does not give the song life.

I think joe's version is smoother, but kelly's feeling at the end is good. But ya'll seem to 4get, joe's my boy, but kelly's voice is even better now,2010. He's gotten better, with sign of a victory, i believe (the obama song), i need a angel he did for ruben studdard. Elsewhere on untitled album, hitting notes now he could when he first came out! r kelly has gotten better with time, rare with artists these days! He's the best,cause of versitilty, he can sing any style,write 4 any one!

I love to sing & this Is one of my favorite songs, I'm 23 & the only version I would always hear on the radio was this version by joe, I remember because I was like In middle school at the time. I never even knew that R.Kelly had a version until I listened to it a few minutes ago. R.kelly sounded alright...but I know music & passion when I hear it. I gotta give it to Joe.

Kells killed it, Joe didn't hit the notes Kells did @ the end and throughout the song. You left out how R.kelly Finished the song. To me thats the best part. He went all out on the ad libs. There's no way Joe did better Kells wrote the song. The only group to cover a song better than the original was "Intro Ribbon In the Sky" in my opinion o course

But when it comes to me watching out for which artist can steal my chick 1st..... I gotta say Kelly!!lol They both have talent and I hope one day they can meet when the both of them are on equal standings and do a duet. That would be awesome!!!!!

And all you people who want to place R kelly's career over joes, know that R kelly only started one year before joe in the music industry. It's not like he has that much over him. Im sorry to say i hated this song for a long time after i heard joes version. I am from chicago and i heard the loveland album and i fell in love with this song instantly. Rkelly is by far Better than joe. Joe's voice irritates me, i felt if he was gonna re-do it he could have at least changed it and made it his own. he sung the song exactly the way Rkelly did he just changed them name from Robert to joe. Whenever i hear joes version i get pissed off and turn. Rkelly All The Way!!

right THYCANIE joe was helping a friend get on (case)..no comparison & actually he would've been worlds more popular but kells for years was callin around tellin radio stations etc. to hold joe stuff back or else he wouldn sponsor them..joe finally got restitution & justice for it & has his own production lbel 563 entertainment..ah just felt it should've been found out sooner..who knows what he could have accomplished had that been the case..smh..

Like someone said before... R. Kelly wrote this song, so either way he wins.. But Joe does sound better on this track. I'm a fan of both of them. Joe gotta shady deal from Jive, but with that said, there wasn't anyone better in R&B from 92-03 than R. Kelly

kelz gets credit for writing it, but his demo was suposed to be raw, whereas joe's was the one that was supposed to be played on radio. joe wins, but giv credit to kelly....
