  • great song ... my Virginia played and sang it al lthe time ...great version ,,that is Anita

  • this chick is so hip. wonderful rendition. magnificient song from a jazz survivor.

  • What a wonderful sense of syncopated rhythm ....amazing

  • Is there a bad performance of Miss Anita? True lady from beginning to end. I love her :)

  • @Crabsdonthum wonderful performance from one of the great singers.

  • I saw her live at Ronnie Scott's in London in the mid 1980s--yes, she had a "just right" feel for small jazz clubs. I see that in this video--but, I see the trio in this number doing the heavy lifting --ear opening piano by Georges Arvantias--thank you CalmOSullivanRed for the tag--I'll check out more. Thanks emmadetten for the up.

  • Just Stunning!!!!!!

  • Anita was our most unique jazz girl singer.

  • wow, emma!where did you get this video?this entire anita concert should be put out on video to really do it justice and for all her fans to have as their own.

    bill in milwaukee.

  • fantastic!

  • Her skin looked horrible.

    Drugs?

  • @MrZekervan She was a heavily addicted heroin addict, who claims she kicked the habit by lying on the beach in Hawaii; because during period of "shakes" she felt warm in the sun/sand, and during times of "perspiring" she could dunk herself in the ocean to cool off; sun also damaged her skin since she was fair skinned and freckled.

  • Always so fashionable and chic, beautifully coiffed, always at home on stage. A true jazz singer; that was and is a rare breed. As an individual she was totally undisciplined and couldn't handle daily life. On stage she glowed. A brilliant and inventive artist who knew her own mind.

  • Love this very much. I loved the album too, but alas very hard to find. A rare gem and one to watch out for.....Thanks

  • @Timbear45

I was wondering what the album was called.

    Thanks

  • @paTsOday The album is called "Anita O'Day In Berlin" (MPS 2120750-1) My LP is on the Viking / BASF label, but I believe it is now many years out of print.

  • @Timbear45 Mine is BASF label 1973 titled Anita O'day-recorded live at the Berlin Jazz Festival

  • Eine der grössten Jazz-Sängerin aller Zeiten !

  • This is great.

  • Thanks for posting. Just great!

  • Gee, I wonder if Amy Whinehouse ever listened to Anita?!

  • i agree julio i agree!!!

  • Oooohhh Anitaaa!!! I love you!!!!

  • Thank you for posting this. It's the kind of performance that makes me want to run down the street screaming 'you MUST listen to this!'.

  • amazing

  • Anita , die Grosse !

    Klasse !!

  • could you please post the whole show ??

Ohm and I'd love to get a copy on DVD... could you sell it to me ?

  • wow

    than you

  • Wow! Thanks so much for this.I really would put in the box/tags, though, that this is the GREAT French pianist Georges Arvanitas and his longsatnding trio (Jacky Sampson, b Charles Saudrais, d) that backed so many Americans through the years.I can imagine people who search Arvanitas would be so pleased to see this!

In fact, may I please ask you to seriously consider uploading every piece from this historic concert ? Hope you don't mind me asking (and I do notice you have a marvellous "channel").

  • I'll put up some more soon

  • @ColmOSullivanRed truly a great song by a great, legendary jazz singer. I wish she could have had more peace in her life, and I wish she was still with us.
